On Monday the 15th September 1986, 1,500 supporters packed into the Astoria Ballroom while more fans were locked outside gathered to hear about the financial difficulties the club had found themselves in. The clubs future was threatened with the financial crisis, as then Chairman Jack Dunnett was the only financial support and the club desperately needed to clear debts of over £1.8 Million. It was a direct result of the fans, players and board members support that the Lifeline scheme came

The past couple of days for myself haven't been like any others, it's actually been awhile since I felt this type of excitement. I had been asking the Italian Magpies quite a few times when or if they planned to come over, very much wanted to meet them, and I can now say I have had that pleasure. What an absolute honour for us, to be included and able to share the day is just beyond anything I can write or say. Very surreal! It felt like the whole two days were more than just a gathering,

The survival of any football league team ultimately falls down to it's fans. If the clubs are fortunate to be in a position where they can spend money, usually at our level or the one above, again it's down to the support. As you fall further down the footballing pyramid it's often uncommon to see cash being spent on players, minus the few exceptions. Most clubs make use of wheeling and dealing, free transfers and of course their own youth system. At Notts County we ourselves realize that

I eagerly looked forward to the fans forum, I felt it was the perfect chance for things finally to come into perspective and focus to the concerning matter of 'support'. Usually I would have missed this, I wouldn't want to sit alone through an event like this and I was very grateful for Jurgenpie allowing me to tag along with him. I feel as always it's proven to me how naive I am, as my eyes widen further to what was a pretty disappointing night for me. I enjoyed the company but the night

Notts County have confirmed the appointment of Chris Kiwomya as permanent first-team manager. The 43-year old, whose career progression has been impressive since joining the Magpies as development squad manager only last year, has signed a three-year deal at Meadow Lane. Ray Trew's decision to appoint Chris Kiwomya is explained on the official website: Link What are everyone's opinions on the Notts board's decision? Is it a good, shrewd move by Ray Trew, putting fa

Pride of Nottingham reflects on the upcoming games that Notts County have to the remainder of the season. On paper the ties could prove to be a difficult task of collecting points, which includes a trip to the current top of the league, Doncaster Rovers and 2nd place Brentford. The only exception is Colchester United, although nobody can rule this one to be an easy game as football isn't so predictable and neither are they. Notts County will be required to step up if they want to finish a

My highlight prior to any home games is to buy a programme, I read these with my son and my grandfather used to collect them. Over the years we've seen so many different changes, for myself the thing I most look forward to his reading Mr Trews notes. There's many other interesting pieces within #themag but none more so than the 'Chairman's Notes'. It's a privilege for us at Pride of Nottingham to be able to carry the notes to the fans who may or not have read them, it makes interesting re

Firstly, Pride of Nottingham would like to extend our own thoughts regarding the loss of Notts Fan Joy Sharpe, our thoughts are with her family. It's such a sad sorrow to learn about this, I personally will always remember Joy as a fun, smiling individual. The match report will follow a little later, in the meantime you can read Mr Trews notes below from yesterday edition of #themag. Thank you for taking the time to visit our site, please do re-visit us and take a moment to reflect on Joy

After a draw against Tranmere Rovers, Notts county return to Meadow Lane where they beat Bury FC 4-1 live on sky sports. Mr Trews notes found in the Carlisle United edition of #themag touches upon the armed forces who were present for charity at Meadow Lane and promoting the good work of Prostate Cancer UK. As always the notes are a highlight with the award winning programme and we're very proud to feature this on our website. Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for

On the back of two consecutive draws with identical score lines, we move onto Bury FC after playing Crewe and Walsall. In recent times we've seen our side play strongly for 45 minutes but often disappointing first halve appearances. The game against Bury was virtually the same, as we allowed them to play direct football and limited our own movements, following up with a wonderful second. In the Bury edition of Mr Trew notes he reflects on our recent performances and caretaker manager Chri

After a series of away games we finally managed to watch an home game at Meadow Lane, one I had been personally looking forward to watching. Mr Trews notes come at a time where the fans will genuinely appreciate having a clear insight into the daily life of the football club. After the dismissal of Keith Curle and other matters, Mr Trews notes reflect on a very important matter with regards to the attendances. Please take the time to read the notes as they give a little more reflection to

Notts County today have confirmed the signing of John Cofie on loan from Manchester United. John spent time earlier in the season with Sheffield United where he scored 2 goals in 16 appearances. He's a young striker at the age of 20, hopefully adding some hunger to our squad. Notts agreed terms on Thursday with United and he travelled to Meadow Lane on Friday morning to complete his move. He is the first signing under caretaker manager Chris Kiwomya, who has signed in a fairly decent pros

Keith Curle has today been relieved of his duties as Notts County manager with immediate effect. Notts were disappointing against Hartlepool with the performance not reaching the standard of a team who sat nearly 30 points above then bottom of the league Hartlepool. Notts now look forward in their search for a new manager to replace Curle, and with a few big names jobless at present, speculation will be flooding the media for the next week or two. Being a Notts fan it is not unusual to ex

Various rumours often circulate around the footballing world, at Meadow Lane it's no different for Notts County especially in recent years (I dare not say why). Recent reports have seen us linked with an ex premiership striker who was originally assumed to be Craig Beattie, who failed to impress Keith Curle. It was stated in local media that he wanted to bring in players who could make an impact straight away and concerns regarding Craig’s fitness were raised therefore the experienced str

On a night very much filled with optimism ahead of League One clash against Oldham Athletic, things again have turned to the weather which doesn't seem to be holding back Notts County or the great efforts shown by many involved within the club. The outcome I feel will be the turning point which leads me to mention Mr Trews comments from the #themag. In last nights edition were given more insight to some of our fans concerns as Mr Trew openly mentions talks about undersoil heating, also cl

#themag is something I personally always enjoy and look forward to on Match Days. If I cannot make it, I will do my best to make sure it's not missed and so I usually walk down to Meadow Lane so I can obtain my copy to read with my son Jake. A feature that really stands out for me, is the personal notes from our Chairman Ray Trew. It brings an insightful view on recent on-going and his own thoughts ahead of games. His notes ahead of yesterdays match against Sheffield United is one I very

The Shrewsbury game seems to be a distant memory now. For myself it's hard to believe we haven't played since the 1st of January 2013. The weather forecast doesn't seem to help our lack of events surrounding Notts County. Apart from the signing of Andre Boucaud it has been very quiet, not much seems to be happening at all and I'm starting wonder if we will make any other signings. It's not a complaint, I'm just hopeful that we may add bulk to our squad. More importantly I cannot wait to s

It was early on handing out flyers ahead of the Brentford game on Saturday that I originally heard the rumours surrounding Lee Hughes. I had approached a supporter, who at first seemed interested until he noticed the artwork in the centre of the flyer. He responded by asking if I had heard the 'news' giving no indication as to what he meant. He added 'He's leaving anyway, good riddance if you ask me', I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Not long after, I overheard a group of fa

After Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford, the boo’s that immediately followed from around the ground after the final whistle were noticeably loud. Having seemingly copied the same script from when they last played Rotherham; Notts dominated with slick passing football, and definitely deserved their first goal. However, it was unsurprising that Notts capitulated again after only 30 minutes and parked the bus only for it to be driven away by a committed Brentford, worthy winners of all 3 po
