Not sure I liked the guy. Particularly the video of his halftime team talk at Wembley which seemed to be playing to the cameras. (Salford obviously thought they would walk the game to have that set up at such a vutal moment)

Even so, 8th and 4th is a decent effort? Or with their cash have they under performed?

Southampton have been thrown out of the Championship play-offs for spying on Middlesbrough ahead of the first leg of their semi-final tie.

The club have also received a four-point deduction in the Championship in 2026-27 season.

Middlesbrough, beaten by Southampton in the semi-final, have been reinstated and will now play Hull City for a play in the Premier League.

The final will remain on Saturday at Wembley with the kick-off time to be confirmed.

Southampton had admitted to "multiple breaches of EFL regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other clubs' training", the EFL said.

The club have also received a reprimand in respect of all the charges.

South Shields failed to get promoted from the National League North despite leading the table for large parts of the season & finishing 2nd on 95 points, 8 points ahead of 3rd placed Kidderminster, who they lost at home to in the playoff final.

Looks like South Shields are potentially going to get plenty of investment to rise up the league system.

I enjoyed the Championship play-off first legs despite the complete lack of goals.

None of those teams look like they could handle the Prem, but looked decent - except for Hull, who are really forgetable. I really fancy Millwall in that one. And it will be nice to see Maca come on and bid to be a Premiership player (if only for a moment)

Now it's Stevenage v Stockport and Kyle Wootton playing centee-back. He looks really good.

We all remember the epic tussle between Wrexham & Notts for automatic promotion in season 2022/23.

We were both far ahead of all the other teams in the League that year. Both scored over 100 goals & earned over 100 points each.

Well it is all happening again between two very good sides, Rochdale and York City. Both are on course to earn over 100 points & score more than 100 goals each again.

The way York City are going they could easily surpass the goal tally that Notts managed to achieve being 117 goals. York are already on 91 with 12 matches still to play.

Former Notts Head Coach Stuart Maynard, the HC of York City, is having a brilliant season guiding York to possible promotion. But just like Notts, Rochdale or York may have to settle for a playoff place rather than automatic promotion.

I think it's time that two teams got automatically promoted from the National League. The lottery of the playoffs could turn out to be very cruel for one of those teams.

So yesterday York won their completely ridiculous promotion race with Rochdale in completely ridiculous style with a 105th-minute equaliser after falling behind deep in stoppage time. The clips are insane, but it must have been heart-stopping for all those who were there!

Congratulations to York, League Two will be more interesting and attractive with them in it. It's a lovely city to visit and a new ground. And comiserations to Rochdale - hopefully they can pick themselves up and drag themselves through the play-offs like we did a few years ago. It's high time the NL had a third promotion spot, as finishing second in a 24-team division and coming away empty-handed can be cruel.
