On Tuesday 25th July Notts County travel the short distance up the A38 to play Alfreton Town in a pre season friendly. How many links between the clubs can we find, players, managers, coaches etc. Here’s one to start us off, Shaun Harrod started his career with Notts in 2002 and was a player with us until 2005, he later joined Alfreton in 2014 making 16 appearances scoring 7 goal, he returned to Notts in 2014 making 12 appearances and scored 2 goals. Over to you how many more can we find.

I saw a picture of the above game where Notts player Gordon was hugging the Chesterfield player Gordon at the end of the game, I think it was @Dan’s picture. Are the two Gordon’s related does anyone know?

The 1st round draw is made tomorrow......odds on we will play away at Chesterfield!!!... who else would be a better option????

Here is my player shortlist for Notts man of the match. Abbott, Gordon, Robertson, Jatta, Platt, Palmer, & Austin. Abbott had a good game on the right flank for Notts. Got the assist for providing the cross for Jatta Gordon also provided several crosses from the left flank. Robertson was his steady self in the middle of the field. He got forward when he could. Jatta, led the line well once again, he's dangerous with his head, & nearly got clear of the Chesterfield defence on a few occasions. Notts may have Lost the Match by the odd goal but there were still some good performances for Notts. Here is my shortlist for man of the match. Crowley, not at his absolute best, but he was behind most of what Notts were creating. Jatta, never stopped running, with better luck may have put one of those chances away in the first half. Platt, his usual self at the back. Calm & assured & secure. Gordon. I think he was ok & got forward in his role as wing back. Robertson, did is usual job in the centre of midfield, steady. Bedeau, he was good at the back once again, & got forward a few times. Austin, did his usual steady job…
