  1. I've read some comments which have concerned me about how some of our fans view Yeovil, they've earned their right to play in this league and I do not feel for a second that they're punching above their weight. They are a very good side on their day, I fully expect them to turn it around and progress back towards mid table. Adjusting back to League One isn't easy, Bristol City, Coventry, Barnsley and so many others have struggled to adapt. It's an hard league! The problem Yeovil are having is scoring, they made a mistake by selling Paddy Madden. Jordy Hiwula isn't a bad player, he's on loan from Manchester City and can be a tricky player - Liam Davis, Joel Grant, Kevin …

  2. Here we go again folks, a very important game which in my opinion we should be making sure we secure our place in to the 2nd round. It would be nice to get that home game against Yeovil! Accrington's form at home seems to be questionable and no doubt we seem to be better on the road right now. However having them lineup against us here at Meadow Lane, I am expecting them to be no push overs. I do feel we can secure victory, which I have a feeling will end 2-0. Yet it won't be an easy 2-0, it will be a solid performance where our lads do us proud. I think Noble and Thompson will get us the goals. It's the first round replay, let us know your thoughts. Discuss folks! Oo…

  3. So, the record is gone and a possible monkey is off of the back. Defeat at home to Walsall could, should, and hopefully will be followed up with a win over the milk advert lot synonymous with "Eeeeen Ruschhhhh". Connections? Well, they were the only team to win at fortress meadow lane during the munto season, a game which cost Hans Backe his job but led to David Kevan which in turn led to Steve Cotterill, so not all bad that year. Players - could be a tricky one this, but i will start with Leam Richardson, a fullback we signed on loan around the Dearden / Scott years, and who popped up at the Crown Ground later in his career. Over to you...

So, with last season's home win against Coventry being one of the high points of 13/14 (which was also the first Meet the Fans video). Will this game be one in which Coventry get their own back? Will they be trying to prove something after their premature exit from the FA Cup? Will we miss the 3 players who are away on international duty? Fingers crossed we keep up our unbeaten run (Which is currently on one game unbeaten!) Who is going to make the trip to the Ricoh Arena?

  7. Started by pie_in_shanghai,

Onwards and upwards. Whilst a bit of gloom surrounded meadow lane on Sunday evening, and not all of it was post-bonfire-related, things could be worse... Fans of the Sky Blues have been through the proverbial in recent seasons, and - despite being "sent to Coventry" having positive connotations since their return to the Ricoh - their FA Cup exit at home to Worcester must rank as a new recent low. Was that their "Havant a clue" moment? So - links between us two clubs, think there's a few, so I'll start with a trio; - Brian Kilcline - Leon Best - Dele Adebola. Over to you...

  8. Started by shepshedpie,

The young 'Pies went out of the FA Youth Cup at the first round away at London Road 2-0. Due to injury and illness Notts were without four second year scholars so the team had a young and lightweight look to it with four first year scholars in the team and two players brought in from the under-16 team. The usual team captain, Jordan Richards was strangely replaced by a youngster from the under-16 team - named Jordan Richards! Colby Bishop took on the role of captain for this game. Posh took the lead after only five minutes and looked like they might score a few more as they dominated the first half. Since Paul Hart joined Notts have favoured a diamond for…

So, it's the first round of the F.A Cup and for once we're the home team! I have no idea whatsoever about Stanley, I really don't know much about them but I do expect a good game. One which I would be disappointed in seeing us lose, we need a solid performance and our fans to really impact the game. If we play like we can, I see no reason why we couldn't score a couple. No disrespect to our opposition but any League Two team should be ours for the taking. That said I am sure we all remember what happened when we met Rotherham at Meadow Lane a few seasons back, well before they gain promotion. I bet you do @BradtheMiller Score predictions? Thoughts?

It's a hard question to ask, however that doesn't put me off. No doubt the players tried, it just wasn't there and some will no doubt stand out for this reason because they kept at it. Please add a comment below (no poll today). Tell PoN who you think deserved to be named as the Man of the Match.

The youth team won on Saturday morning, beating Bradford City 3-2 in dreadful rainy and windy conditions. A close game was always in prospect with Bradford sitting in third place in the league with Notts in sixth. Notts took the lead after only fifteen minutes with a fantastic shot from the edge of the area by Ben Browne which crashed against the underside of the bar before going into the net giving the visiting 'keeper no chance. Notts were ahead for only five minutes when a loose ball in the Notts penalty area was hammered home by a Bradford forward to make the score 1-1. After 40 minutes Notts got themselves back in the lead when a new player from Wolve…

  15. Started by Chris,

Last year they pretty much humiliated us and I hope we can repay that to them this year, I am surprised by how they have started. I really rate the way they play and although @sadlad told me awhile back they miss having Brandy and other strikers, I do think they have some decent options there. That said I can see us scoring a few provided we play like we have been in recent weeks. Harrad must be fancying his chances here, hopefully Noble can get something or put in another fine performance. It's going to be a cracking game, as Walsall are not a side to just sit back. 3-1 to Notts, I actually see them scoring first! Thoughts?

So, proudly onwards following the late win at Scunthorpe. Having been on the end of costly late goals at Preston and Bristol City (h) this season, it was sweet and pleasing to see the characters reversed on Saturday. Walsall always invokes memories of Fellows' Park and David Kelly to me - notoriously 1988ish when Barnwell's team choked around easter and lost in the playoffs to the Kelly inspired Saddlers. Spoilt my pre-teen years, that did - and he then turned up at Forest! Anyway - players to link the two clubs should be plentiful. I will start with 2 players, a striker we bought for £225k and ended up using him as a RB - and a RB / CB that is best remembered…

  21. Round two... Ding, ding! This one will not be the same as the last time we played them, the new manager effect will need to be factored in and again they have some very talented players. I do believe our form should see us through this game though, we just need to sort the defence out. If we can avoid the shaky start, I can see us getting a couple against them. 0-2 Notts win. Thoughts? Will you be going? Let us know.. #discuss

  22. so, after a breathtaking and very satisfying win at oakwell, attention turns to our next fixture. avoiding the obvious expletive pun, we're up against the team that gave Ian "Beefy" Botham his break in football. surprisingly bottom of the league and have recently relieved their title-winning manager of his duties. i'll open the links with a hattrick of easy starters - jonathan forte, ian baraclough and karl hawley. over to you...

  24. Barnsley aren't doing how I thought, although with their financial problems I suspect that plays a lot on the situation they really can't be written off. They've got some players I would love to see at Notts and with it being at their ground, I see them wanting to turn things around. A lot will depend on which Notts County turns up. If the side we have seen the past few games, then I honestly believe we will win. If we turn up and stutter, I think it will be a totally different game and I am not expecting another high scoring game. I'll say 0-1 Notts. Goal by Harrad. Thoughts?

  25. I genuinely do not know what to expect from Crawley, the players they have are unpredictable at times but they're a good side with this league. McLeod can't be written off, he's a striker who can cause trouble and gain that "bit" of luck which poachers seem to have the habit of finding. If Crawley win, they move up to same amount points on their tally as we do, of course if we draw we move to 18pts and they move to 15pts. However, if we win we move up to 20pts and that might be good enough (depending on results) to get inside the play-offs. Now, I am not getting carried away! It's just a thought, we are only 3 places away from 6th so it's hardly unrealistic. Now if thi…
