  1. Started by Chris,

Well here we go, another home tie and one of very few during this festive period. Not much for our fans to be 'merry about', however if you like the fact we've made some additional signings (loan) this is about as good as it gets right now. I have to say, I'm going to miss going to away games - they really are something! Brentford, very overrated in my opinion. They're a good side but without the investment, they'd be a regular side and I still recall what some of their fans said about us not many moons ago! Now look at them! Uwe Rosler's been making waves in the media, it seems a weekly basis he tells some sort of story regarding his past! Notts have a little bit of m…

  2. Started by PTID1862,

Ok, so this evenings 19.45 kick off sees the Magpies away at the massive Bradford City. The league table suggests a home win is the most likely outcome, with Bradford currently occupying 6th spot and looking to pull away from the chasing pack. On the flip side Notts are languishing at the bottom of the pile 7 points off 20th spot. Can Notts get anything from the game? well recent performances have vastly improved and it is going to happen somewhere, so why not? Significant results I can remember between the two: Play off Misery - losing out to the massive at the old Wembley Stadium. That opening day 5 - 0 hammering. I personally cannot see anything ot…

  3. Where do I begin? I really don't know. So, 17th take on 24th in League One. No disregard to the Shrews but this is a game that would annoy me to lose, they're a beatable side and even in our current situation we should be able to take the game to them. I don't see them being an 'easy' touch, more a side lacking the quality they've usually been used to surviving with in this league. That said, if our players don't turn up they have more than enough players able to punish us. 1-0 win for Notts. Thoughts?

  4. Started by Chris,

Some fans might believe this is dooms day, as Notts are expected to lose. I personally see it as a good chance to try some players who miss out, we need to find a balance between 'reliable' and 'consistent' - of course this means some players will have off days but I firmly believe the majority of our fans accept this. Wolves are likely to win! however, you never say never! This type of thing should inspire and push our players, the desire to do well and cause an upset. Supposedly someone from Wolves told PoN that they're taking 3k, I'm surprised. Good for the club if true! 3-1 Wolves is my prediction.

  5. Started by Pies4u,

Just a thought - don't we play Oldham tonight? It all seems a bit quiet. Hopefully, the chat room will be busy.

  6. Started by Chris,

Hartlepool are currently an in-form team within League Two, we seem desperately destined to hang around the mix and quite possible to fall into the division ourselves. This is now Shaun Derry's responsibility, no one can yet say how he will do and it's only opinions which divide us right now. He seems to have a grasp on what he would like to do, speak passionate and seems to know where we are falling short. Can we judge him after Saturday? I don't think so. They are a very capable side, one I said last year I could see winning us. This year, I expect the game to be a little closer but they have depth in their squad which could punish an unwary defense and even rock us. …

  7. This game see's two sets of fans traveling to the ground, something I don't think people should even joke about. As if Notts lost Meadow Lane or couldn't play their, well it would quite saddening. Coventry are shooting up the league, they're playing pretty good stuff and for a side who's notably had to adapt. I say good on them! Franck Moussa - A player I would have Sheehan or Liddle man mark. Notts could do with the win, I feel very optimistic about it and I think it will be a tight game. If Notts can throw themselves into blocking chances or quickly cut them out, I think there's no reason why we couldn't start a little run of wins which would be great for confidence …

  8. So what our thoughts on this match? How do you think the players will perform, will they be downcast because of the manager leaving or will they perform because the possibility that a new manager will be watching from the stands? What team would you put out? It will be interesting to see Steve Hodge's approach to the game. I think we will win but I hope that doesn't tempt the board to give Hodge a chance, I want to see a "proper" manager come in this time. What will the attendance be, will a few more come down because CK has gone? So over to you guys, what are your thoughts?

  9. It was mentioned on the radio these next two home games are 'winnable'. I asked on a certain place what people expected from the next four games after we played Crewe/Wolves. I said 7/8 points but i would be happy 5-6, realistic now I'd take 4. Preston are a side which play quick and direct football, to stop this and counter-act their tactics will be relying on our defense to stand proud and tall. We need to push onto them, making sure they're pushed back in the process. No games unwinnable, it's how you setup and even average sides can be made the most of. However, I feel last Tuesday was 'winnable' and a game our focus should have been much higher, I know it deserved t…

  10. This would have been an interesting encounter for a different reason, had they have not sacked Martin Allen. Gillingham are currently being managed by interim experienced manager Peter Taylor. The media are reporting he's keen to keep the role, so he will no doubt be trying to oversee their shortfalls a little more than perhaps someone thrown into the position - making this a game we must take seriously, as there are no easy 3 points. Gillingham are currently 19th, they've lost their last 2 games but managed to beat MK Don's 3-2 at home on the 5th of October. This is a game Notts need to show their determination, the defense need to be stronger and more organized. We've…

  11. Good luck Pies, you're gonna need it. Swindon murdered us 4-0 at our gaff today, I was very impressed with em, but we made em look like Barcelona, we were that bad!!!!

  12. Started by Chris,

Walsall took them to pens, 2-2 and obviously Wolves won but we played well against Walsall - Yet Wolves will be a totally different game and one I have to say I am not overly fussed about. I think Notts can continue to perform well, it will be interesting. I can see more watching it via sky, although I hope a good following goes and supports Notts. Wolves are 3rd in the league, I am a little surprised by this as I expected them to do a Sheffield United and struggle (not a this season Sheffield United tho).. Notts will have to be wary defensively and despite it being it being the JPT, the game will yet again showcase the club to it's fans. It's vital they put in a Tranm…

  13. The big day! I feel I will be saying this for sometime, although Saturday will the big promotion £10 adults and £1 for children. It's a shame the offer couldn't included away fans, it might have the away end full but I guess it makes sure we at least bring in some normal finance. Yet I do hope fans come down, even if it's a case of taking up the offer and meeting up old friends. It's a great deal! Notts will have to put aside the disappointment of last Saturday against Carlisle, they need to be stronger at the back and on the break. I honestly feel we would have won if these two areas had been spot on, it certainly wasn't a lack of effort on goal for me because Gilles…

  16. It's an interesting fixture, a side which beat Sheffield United (1-0) rather convincingly I have been told by a good source up north are a little concerned by our visit. The way some of their fans have communicated with me, you'd have though they was in our position and us in theirs! Carlisle is an untest ground for me, I'm excited about making the journey. Notts - MUST show the same conviction and passion in this performance, as the one they did against Tranmere. I think away will be a different one to master, as I strongly feel the crowd helped on Saturday (among other contributing factors). I wouldn't mind a slower game, aslong as the passions there. The skill and tr…

  17. Started by Chris,

The troops have been rallied, we've had a positive messaged shared by our Chairman - Regardless of individual views or the fact that CK appears to have the backing. It might not be what everyone would like, although we have to make the best of our current situation and the only way forward is by thinking clearly. I certainly don't think much will change if things don't start to pick up, there becomes a point where actions will and must be taken. So really, until this point let's support the team we love. Tranmere have some quality in their side, although they have been inconsistent themselves. The thing which worries me is the fact that they can score freely, they can …

  18. Started by Chris,

Leyton Orient have had a very good start to the season, ex Notts manager Russell Slade (currently Orient boss) will no doubt be eager to do well on Tuesday to continue his teams streak. It's a game myself and quite a few others don't expect anything from, however you have to think on the bright side otherwise it would be pointless even going, so with that said you never know. We might break their start but how many more games can we lose? 1 point in 6 is the opposite to our opposition. If Notts are to get anything out of the game, I firmly believe we will have to be calm and slow in building but at all costs we will have to hold possession. We can't just whip the ball …

Surprised to see no comments about the defeat to MK Dons on here. What does everyone think? Is it time to change manager or have we been down that road before? My view is that it is still too early to sack the manager, we can turn it round it is only 6 games into the season and we can't go on sacking managers every 6 months, CK has made new signings and it all takes time to gel, lets give him a bit longer and get behind the team, manager and owners and get through this together. What's others views?

  20. Started by weymouthPIE,

Another week is about to begin so time to move on from Saturday and look ahead to the next match. Not exacly the biggest of games, and our JPT record suggests we probably will get beaten but I think this game has taken on some importance given recent results. I would hope Kiwomya uses this match as an oppurtunity to trial Liddle in midfield with Deano and Manny Smith as the two CBs. And TWO up front! Would also be good to see the likes of Melvin, Coombes, Thompson, Nangle and Waite given a chance in this game. We will likely be relying on these youngsters at some stage this season so game time will be crucial. Saying that, this is a game I'd love for us to win…

  21. Hopefully we will see a more relaxed game, though it would be nice for the same principles applied at Anfield. I don't agree that there's now expectations, least not in the same context that some media sources have been mentioning at least. The ability to score and create chances are there, we just need to make it happy and to make sure that we attack games. It's easy when you think about it, the only way to take pressure off, is to attack well. I'm not going to say we'll walk Rotherham over, they've been doing okay and anyone who attended last season's cup game will tell you they know how to punish us. The difference this year is the fact we have Bart available to …

Capital One Cup - Liverpool vs Notts County Live from Anfield at 7:45pm (On Sky, Local Radio and Magpie Player) Match Summary After the last game against Stevenage things appear to have deflated further, although the special thing about cup games is the upsets and you can never write off underdogs. This will be Notts County's chance to show us fans that they're trying and we should expect a certain length in transition for the players to gel but last Saturday was very disappointing. All we can really ask from the players is to go into the game and believe, if we try... I will be happy, just need to see that spirit and early signs we saw from the friendlies and hopefully …

  23. Finally!!! I'm glad to say it but we will see the one and only 'Gary Liddle' return to the mix. I hope to see the defense come together now and even if Manny retains his place, I see no reason why Gary wouldn't make the return the centre of the park. We've missed him and although I have read some comments about his actions at Sheffield United, it's still a case for me that he's done enough to warrant fans to stand by him. We certainly need his calm head! Now I see this one as being a game where Stevenage will try to disappoint us, although I feel we have the quality to see this being a game where we notch up our first 3 points and come away from Meadow Lane with smiles…

  24. Fingers crossed we can go back to full strength after this clash. Walsall will be wanting to no doubt keep their winning record, it's for Notts to go into the game and realize that we can get points out of such games. I'm not saying Walsall are easy, although they're in the group of teams we should be looking at defeating. I still think Liddle is out and I mentioned this previously, it might be worth throwing Labadie into our defense, which would allow Sheehan to be left back and Tempest to play a role in the midfield. We could see Tempest dropped, although I honestly feel it's harsh to say he was poor. He only struggled at times and did well to be fair, his balls into …

  25. First game of the season and only tomorrow!! What do you think the attendance will be? Someone asked me on Facebook, I'm not sure about away games but 2.5 would be nice. Notts have said we've sold over 800 tickets, so hopefully more will pay on the day. I just hope this business about them being slow to get fans in isn't true, we don't need this at the start of the season! I think it will be a good game, I can firmly see Notts winning and I really hope we do. It would be great to get the season off with a good run and build this optimism. Despite what that football magazine said, I am also confident that my league prediction can come true, I have full faith in Notts a…
