Today marks exactly 10 years since the Belgian left back signed for Borussia. A great club servant, who has been captain of the club for longer than anyone else, even Berti Vogts. Agreed to be the penalty taker until he missed one, which he did last year after 17 goals in a row. Not many 'foreign' players are such good servants in this day and age.

  5. I'll start with Borussia. Bundesliga: Currently 4th - in the "Champions League" play-off spot. Settle for that of even 5th or 6th at the end of the season. However, the commitments of the German Cup (away to Kickers Offenbach in the 1/8th final) and the Europa League (Sevilla in the 1/16th final) may prove too much for the club's squad. Gladbach have a lot less money than the other current top 5 clubs, as well as some lower down, e.g. Dortmund and Hoffenheim. Good management and good coaching can only take you so far these days. The defence got very creaky without Martin Stranzl towards Christmas. That said, a great first half, home crowds averaging 50 000, still …

Gladbach finished top of their group in the Europa League and despite being seeded in the draw have got Sevilla in the next round (4th in La Liga and the reigning holders of the Europa League. Villareal finished second in our group and get RB Salzburg... Work that one out? I'm not optimistic...

Tonight's 2-0 win in Cyprus makes it 18 games without defeat in league, cup and Europa league since the start of the season, beating 17 at the start of 70-71. I'm getting carried away, I was even disappointed with a draw against FC Bayern a couple of weeks ago. The triple is still on!

Athletico madrid in the final of the champions league that for some people is a shock I got to say I'm not shocked I've been watching then in the La liga and they really have been proving them self holding their nerve they have the player and the management to do well this just proves money dose not make a team where is barca in the final Chelsea man city. I know teams have bad days and some time loose to teams they are not meant to on paper and people will see athletico as one of those teams that have got lucky. But i believe their league position helps and are top of their league for a reason not just lucky i think in the final they will give real madrid a fight and u n…

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27306106 French team Clermont have appointed a female coach to help the team survive in Ligue 2. What are you thoughts on women managers? Would you accept one at Notts? If they know the game and can prove themselves to be good managers, I wouldn't see why not. I wouldn't agree with trying to get female coaches to match that of the population, as there just aren't that many women who would be up for the job.

  18. You might have seen Gladbach's 1-0 win at Schalke yesterday on TV. What has come to light today in the statistics is that they only committed 1 foul in the whole 90 minutes. The previous Bundesliga record low was 6 apparently. Does anyone know of any team that committed no fouls at all?

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Cracking tie. Both are going for the title in Spain. Both play good football. Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Chance for Madrid to exact revenge for the beating Dortmund gave them in the semis last year. PSG vs Chelsea Should be fascinating. Mourinho will play the PSG are favourites mind game. Man Utd vs Bayern Munich Moyes said Man Utd are capable of beating any sidein the competition. He just got drawn against the Champions, time to put his money where his mouth is.
