Greenland has been in the news over the last week or two with Donald Trump expressing an interest in the USA buying the Island that is a self governing territory of Denmark. There are 56,000 people live on Greenland, a very inhospitable place to live. We know why Trump wants to buy it. The Island is a treasure trove of minerals & raw material. It will probably have very large Oil & Gas reserves too.. Greenland should just remain as it is, because if the USA gets control of the Island the lives of the population would never be the same As far as buying the Island, that should be a no no, but I think the cost would be even too much for the US. …

  3. It seems Elon Musk is determined to have his say on British Politics, why he’s even interested I’ve no idea. His latest meddling made me laugh, Nigel Farage came on the BBC and said having Musk supporting Reform made them “cool” a few hours later Musk says Farage should be replaced as Reform leader. It seems Musk doesn’t like people to disagree with him and has ditched Farage because he disagreed with Musk’s view of Tommy Robinson. Well I don’t like Nigel Farage at all but I do agree with him about Tommy Robinson.

With energy price hikes due in October & with Pensioners going to lose their fuel allowance, unless they are on benefits, I thought this article was pertinent to the whole price rise debacle.

I agree with Jeremy Corbyn on this one. If things couldn't get worse, they get much worser.

This is a thread to discuss new announcements in the first Labour budget for over fourteen years. What do this Government have in store for us Pensioners & working people? Let's begin with the Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle, making it very clear to the House, that he's not a happy chappie about important elements of the budget being leaked to the press before the budget speech, which could be a very serious breach of the ministerial code, that in the past has led to resignations. Can the Chancellor survive?

Seeming as I'm the rabid dog politician on here, seems the good ship Tory Brexit really is on the rocks with ministers quitting right left and centre so far today! When Davis went this morning most main stream media forgot to mention his whole team went with him! Now with that fool Johnson leaving by the back door the current state of play for the Tories is not great. We have a leader propped up by the DUP votes, who, if it carries on the way it has so far today, will neutralise the majority of the DUP in the space of 72 hours? Can't see how this car crash can be repaired now from a Tory side of things. Unless they go full on Victorian and bring in an idiot…

I find it all really depressing watching the pictures on the news, I’ve had to stop watching it, it makes me terribly sad to see those people fighting, throwing things at police, some of them just children, what’s happening to this country? A lot of blame must go to right wing politicians, newspapers like the daily Mail and social media for demonising immigrants but it won’t be the politicians or newspaper editors who go to prison it’ll be their foot soldiers the knuckle dragging morons who are devoid of any intelligence and are whipped up into a frenzy by the likes of Farage, Lee Anderson and the Daily Mail. God help us all.

Have PON members noticed that the quality of fresh fruit and veg, particularly from supermarkets, has gone down hill lately? We've finish up buying the more expensive baking potatoes because ordinary sized potatoes have green & dark parts to them, which have to be cut off. Bananas aren't good either, nor the fresh broccoli & cauliflower for example. Had some fresh oranges delivered yesterday & all of them were greenish and some damaged. Had to reject them. The fruit & veg seems to go off very quickly especially the bananas. There must be a reason for this, either the weather or the suppliers, but as prices keep going up, the consum…

  14. A bitter blow for campaigners. Ivanhoe Line revival effectively cancelled as Government cuts all funding. Leicestershire’s Ivanhoe Line revival has effectively been cancelled after the funding for the project was cut. The plan's seeming demise has been labelled as a “bitter blow” by campaigners who were aiming to restore passenger services on the route. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/local-news/ivanhoe-line-revival-effectively-cancelled-9446208

Charlie Slater and Mark Stallard when they heard news of the election.

  16. The General election is over. The results have been declared. Labour have a super majority in the H of C with 412 MPs with just 33. 7% of the popular vote from a turnout of just 60%. So Labour win with just 1 in 5 potential voters voting for them. My question is, is it time for reform of the FPTP political system because it is not representative of all those people who vote for different parties? I believe it is time to consider having a change from 'First Past The Post' electoral system to having a Proportional Representative system where.your vote for a political party really counts. All the small parties support PR, but of course the two largest parties …

Whatever your feelings about politics, no matter how disenfranchised you think you are from Westminster, it is vitally important you vote today to maintain a stable democratic government. Think of the countries and people that don’t have the right to vote, think of your fathers or grandfathers who fought in wars and think of the people who died defending your right to vote and to keep this country free from dictatorship. No matter who you vote for it’s vitally important you use it because very vote counts, we are very lucky in this country. I’m not telling you who to vote for but PLEASE USE YOUR VOTE.
