SD has said Jimmy is our new number 9 for next season. About time too. We've needed a quality forward to lead the line and JS looks the business. Good luck Jimmy. SHAUN Derry revealed Notts County faced competition for Jimmy Spencer's signature but says the forward made the right choice by staying at Meadow Lane. The Notts boss this week tied the forward to a new two-year deal making him the first of six out of contract players to commit his future to the club. Spencer (pictured) was superb for the Magpies as they avoided relegation to League Two, scoring five goals after he was signed on a free transfer after his release by Huddersfield in January. According to Derry, …

I took Grandson George to watch this match yesterday. It ended 0-0 and to be honest I wasn't overly impressed at the football on offer. Without being derogatory to the ladies it made me appreciate watching the men's team. Anyone else go? Am I being harsh?

Matt Derbyshire has been released by that lot across the river. He'd score goals in League One. His wages might be an issue though. Ismael Miller. He went on loan at Yeovil and did well. Fell out with the manager and was sent back to that lot across the river. He will get offers from Championship clubs I guess, but he'd do very well for us. Again wages may be the stumbling block..... Stephen Pearson. He was released by Bristol City yesterday. He missed 6 months due to an ankle injury, but is fit now. 31 years old, played for Celtic and Derby. He has a terrific attitude. He'd be an asset at any club. I think we could have a genuine shot at getting him if we wanted…

Where are you sitting next season? I will be returning to the Kop, both myself and Jake miss the stand. I learned to appreciate the Family Stand, I wasn't very keen at first. Very quiet and awkward to sing/chant but by time the season was over I had people joining in and I think the results went along with that. However, it's got to be the Kop. What about you?

If Notts had gone for a more experienced manager when they sacked Kiwomya, there were three other managers who were available at the time if memory serves me well, Nigel Clough, Steve Cotterill and John Gregory. Clough went to Sheff Utd., and they just missed out on the play offs finishing 7th after being down the bottom with Notts, Steve Cotterill went to Bristol City who ended up finishing a very creditable 12th and I think John Ward was available and he went to Crawley who were also near the bottom and he steered them to safety and a finishing position of 14th. So had one of these managers been appointed would we have had an easier time at the end of the season…

Notts County are delighted to announce that striker Jimmy Spencer has signed a new two-year deal with the club. Spencer, who moved to Meadow Lane from Huddersfield Town in February of this year, initially signed on a short-term deal that ran until the end of the season. He proved a revelation up front for Notts in the final weeks of the season, forming a productive partnership with Ronan Murray. The 22-year-old scored five goals on the way to helping the club avoid relegation from Sky Bet League 1 and was one of the key performers in Shaun Derry’s reinvigorated side. Spencer will now head off on his summer break before returning to join up with his team mates a…

Alot of rumour on the net and after reading JCR's interview in the red rag, I would be surpirsed if any of the players offered contracts stay with us. Seems to me that alot of the players have gotten a little carried away with the great escape and believe we have been promoted! Wrong. We scrapped through by the skin of our teeth from relegation to the lowest league in league football. Players should really remember that even though some showed great form in the last couple of months, the season runs for most of the year, and our club sat rooted to the bottom for most of it!!! Rumours of £4000 per week for Sheenan from Sheff Utd, I say good luck to him because no Nott…

Following on from the discussion of Greg Dyke's proposals on a B Team league (aka League 3), a petition has been set up against the idea. I've included relevant links below: Petition http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/the-football-association-say-no-to-b-teams Campaign Website http://www.againstleague3.co.uk/

Hey there! I'm a new member from Italy. I support Juventus, and as many of Juve fans I'm grateful to Notts County for giving us our wonderful colours! :-) Just about our colours, I would like to ask you something about a Notts County football shirt: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BNWT-NOTTS-COUNTY-FC-XL-FOOTBALL-SHIRT-SOCCER-JERSEY-TOP-NOTTINGHAM-ENGLAND-/281319718687 I want to buy it, but I can't understand neither if it is a training or playing kit, nor the corresponding season of employment. Could someone help me? Thank you very much! Andrea

Yes, the FA are actually considering introducing premier league B teams into the Football League.: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27289819 I can't think of anything worse than watching Notts play in an empty stadium against another club's reserve team! It's a stupid idea. If they want B teams in a league, make a B team league. Don't destroy proper football just to please the big clubs and give some fanboy who couldn't even point to Manchester on a map but owns a replica shirt so thinks he's a real fan the chance to say he's actually been to see a game, albeit against Tranmere Rovers. No thank you! In fact would it even be helpful to the big clubs? They want…

No real surprises imo. TEN players are leaving Notts County after not being offered new contracts, the Post understands. Manager Shaun Derry is busy putting together his retained list of those player he wishes to keep and those who will not feature in his plans in League One next season. And the club will today announce where the axe has fallen, in terms of those players not offered new terms at Meadow Lane after their deals ran out. While the likes of skipper Alan Sheehan, Gary Liddle, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Jimmy Spencer and Ronan Murray have all been busy negotiating terms with the Magpies hierarchy, other senior members of the squad will leave for pastures new. Among …

Contract decisions will be made from tomorrow onwards and the first week from the end of the old season is crucial to our club. This week will see some players departing as expected and others staying when we expected them to go. Should be an interesting week.

I guess most of you would have missed the interview with Alan Sheehan after the Oldham match. Colin asked him about his future and if he would be playing for Notts next season, he said that anyone would want to play for Derry but the club need to pay him and others better money if he was to stay, he said that he had taken a pay cut to stay at Notts but then they brought in new players who our now on loan for stupid money (a clear reference to Haynes) he said the players who wanted to play for the club and had helped keep them up were not rewarded enough. That was the gist of the conversation and it didn't sound like he would be here next season, if you've got magpie pla…

I missed the arse end of the season, so my ratings may be a tad off, but here we go.... (I've only included players that have played a significant part in our season) Bart - 7.5 - He's saved us so many times this season. He's not without his moments however, but is definitely a solid keeper at this level, and maybe even above. IN Freeman - 5 - At times looked very good, at times looked rubbish. A little bit inconsistent for me, but no doubt a decent option at this level. Undecided (Not our player, fee, wage demands, possibly better options) Dumbuya - 5 - He's improved recently, he was quite decent from memory at the start of the season, but with such a poor side, hi…

Nottingham post's article; Notts County's Jack Grealish nominated for League One award JACK Grealish has been given the perfect boost ahead of Notts County's do-or-die clash at Oldham Athletic, having been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award for April. The on-loan Aston Villa winger will today be working hard on the training ground as the Magpies prepare to face the Latics in their last game of the season on Saturday, knowing a draw will ensure their survival in the division. And the 18-year-old will no doubt have an extra spring in his step, after having his performances recognised. Grealish did not add to his tally of five goals…
