  2. Nottingham post's article; Shaun Derry wants Notts County to finish 'Great Escape' with a bang SHAUN Derry wants Notts County to finish their 'Great Escape' with a bang as he vowed not to play for the draw which will guarantee their survival. The Magpies boss is bracing his team for one of the club's biggest matches in their recent history when they travel to Oldham on Saturday. Notts need just a point at Boundary Park to retain their League One status, which could have led Derry to deploy defensive tactics for the showdown. But the Magpies chief says that's not in his nature and has made it clear that he wants to finish one of the unlikeliest escape a…

Well Done to Haydn Hollis who claimed the NCFCOSA's Young Player of the Season. Yesterday fans and members of the NCFCOSA attended the Young Player of the Season Award Evening. The inaugural award for the best under-21 player who has come through Notts’ academy as a scholar was scooped up by Hayden Hollis. Fellow nominees Greg Tempest, Curtis Thompson, Fabian Spiess, and Kyle Dixon also attended, along with other academy players, and youth team coaches Dan Leivers and Anny Ninje. Everyone present felt privileged to hear First Team coach/manager Shaun Derry lay out his plans for the integration of young players into the first team squad and give a frank and honest ap…

Nothing beats seeing a pub full of NCFC fans, however when it's the pub which a former legendary manager used to frequent and is honoured - Well the sense of pride and respect sort combined to make it all that more special. The walk just as impressive, as our fans took to walking all the way from the Cross Keys pub all the way to Meadow Lane! Personally I had been looking forward to it for awhile, I had collected sponsorship from day one and as some are aware I dislocated my left knee not long after. With my right knee being such a problem and with the left going, I was advised by medial staff (physio and a specialist) not to do the walk. However, anyone who knows me wi…

I don't want to be negative but I am a bit worried about Saturday. Both Crewe and Tranmere are at home we are not brilliant away. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that they both win and we lose in which case we would go down. I just hope that the players aren't thinking that the job is done and make that last push for a result at Oldham. It will be very nervy to say the least, please tell me I am being paranoid and it will all end happily.

Been to get 4 this morning. Nearly 2000 sold. Should be a sellout. I'm leaving straight from work at 11.00. Only just over 2 hours, so should be ok.

Mullins has been recalled by Birmingham, that's a blow for the Oldham match. I'd drop Liddle back to defence and bring Vela in to midfield.

  8. Poinstewsrdsts to keep in your mind, when reading. 1.I have been a steward for 28 years, and the longest serving steward. 2. We have always had to sign in for duty by 1pm.On Saturdays. Left home a bit later than usual on Saturday, so had to hurry, was out of breath, due to the recent respiratory failure, by the time I got to the stewards room. Got there at 5 to 1, only to be told that I was to late to sign in and to go home. I said it's only 5 to. Sorry to late. I asked If could watch the game. Yes but only if you buy a ticket. I didn't exit ground and went into Lawtons bar and had a couple of drinks, and stayed and watched game. I was fuming after being treated like th…

I often think that 'the house that Derek built' is a slight problem for us. don't get me wrong. I think Derek Pavis has been the best thing that happened to the club in my lifetime chairman wise. ( Sorry Ray, Dunnett and dont forget JAH and his jumpers) Put the bad issues with him taking money out of the club etc...against the stadium and team and finances during his tenure then even through rose tinted specs it looked good. Meadow Lane needed rebuilding, no doubt, but looking at Joes Photos and the comment about RU's new ground got me to thinking seriously about the Lane. Yes I love going there. It's history pure and simple. Would going to another ground be the same?…

Just found this on the ladies website: Ellen White is facing a spell on the side lines after picking up a cruciate ligament injury in Notts County's pre-season campaign. The England international suffered the injury in County’s last pre-season friendly against Durham Women, and scans later showed the Magpie’s worst fears as it was confirmed that the striker had injured her cruciate ligaments in her knee. Notts County manager Rick Passmoor said “It’s bad news for us, everyone is aware of Ellen’s ability, we’ve had a great pre-season and we were all ready to go. It’s a set back but it gives the opportunity for other players to step up into the role. Jess…

Looks like you can avoid the drop especially as your last home match is against away day strugglers Swindon Town. But ..... will your team be nervous, will your fans get on their backs or will you perhaps have an off day? We have more than matched (just) your recent revival and still have (mathematically) something to play for. Should be a lively encounter do you not think Joe? Best wishes to all, Mickeyr

Dougie Freedman confident Josh Vela will benefit from loan spell at Notts County JOSH Vela went headlong into a relegation scrap with Notts County yesterday with a glowing recommendation from his manager at Wanderers. Dougie Freedman has sent the combative young midfielder out to help his old Crystal Palace team-mate Shaun Derry, who is trying to lift the Magpies out of the bottom four in League One. And the Scot has no doubt that it is an arrangement that can suit both parties perfectly. “Whether they are at the bottom of the league or not isn’t my issue,â€ he said. “I have to think of the club and this is a chance to get Josh playing some proper league …

This fixture has been changed at very short notice from Saturday to Good Friday. This has caused a bit of a backlash from fans who have paid for train tickets, hotels etc. for the Saturday and now have to lose money, I must say it seems really unfair on the travelling fans. I can understand it from a football point of view because we are playing on Easter Monday and it will give more to time recover but the clubs should have sorted this a long time ago not now when people have made arrangement. What do others think? Has anyone on here had to change their plans?

  20. what are the downsides of supporting notts this season for you and what are the things we have to learn from? i think the downsides are very obvious, for me anyway. 1. dwindling crowds 2. very poor form 3. little sign of togetherness 4. hanging onto ck for so long 5. not managing to win games we should have done the things i feel the club should learn is to appreciate all support, making the most of the great support we do have. dont approve signings where theres a risk the player will be injured the majority of the time. make sure management and players work together! derry needs to keep up with his togetherness. judge players by how they perform, show desire and not …

After watching the Derry interview on M player and Ball has been sent back. Derry talked about his not getting on with his rehab very well as well. When questioned about attitude and commitment he changed the question to ability. Easily side stepped, but sent a big signal that Ball hasn't been playing Ball as he should during his recovery!!!
