After it being mentioned on the Derry thread I thought it would be a nice way to welcome in the new year with a quick recall of some of the managers we've had in recent memory. For me it goes back to Jimmy and obviously nobody has come close since, but we've had a few lame ducks! talking about 'having a few' Howard Kendall at the Lane. What a waste of money on his wages and his drinks bill that was! A good manager is normally judged by overall championship wins eg Warnock and big Sam, but as I mentioned in another post, Mick Walker was always the manager who could have done so much, but wasn't allowed to by Pavis. Mick is still a favourite of mine just because he …

In-form youth team striker Colby Bishop has earned a scholarship with Notts County Football Club after an impressive trial. Bishop has scored a remarkable nine goals in four appearances for the youth team. The goals have seen the young Magpies put together a run of four consecutive wins and climb to sixth in the North East Youth Alliance. Academy manager Mick Leonard was full of praise for the promising young striker and believes he can continue to improve as a full-time scholar. Click here to read the full article.

Who would you sell, loan out or release in January permitted you could do so? I might be on my own in this boat, I hope it does not sink like that other member Tony's ferry! I would not get rid of anyone just yet, I would try to loan out a few. Arquin, Labadie, Baucaud perhaps, I cannot think of anyone else. Arquin is a frustrating player, many clearly want him gone but Shaun seems hell bent on inspiring the players and getting the best out of them. I would like to see what he can do with Arquin, Labadie can go. He does not know how to tackle safely and he puts us in danger, thinking about it Two for One sounds good! Labadie and Fotheringham!

Here's a clip of the tackle that injured Gary Liddle. You make your own mind up but for me a definite red card and a penalty.

I have to say I don't really understand @Dan, I mean he was acting very strange at Colchester. I picked up my mobile and recorded him for a short while, I consider myself to be lucky because I really obtained an exclusive here. It's yours to watch, I'm not protecting anyone! >http://youtu.be/ygqp-VWtpOI

I didn't go to last Saturdays match but my next door neighbour did and he bought me a programme for the match, I have been reading it today and in Colin Slater's column he said that Tony Hateley was very ill and "fighting for his life". My thoughts are with Tony and I really hope he pulls through.

Guys n Gals Please make a post in support of this wonderful woman on LFC online, just honoured with the Helen Rollason Award. Such a shame that god cut her life short, she didn't see the justice she fought for. Love from PoN xx the thread is Anne Williams tribute.

Well I have contacted the club (Mrs T) to see if anybody would be interested in a lovely piece of embroidery. The lady who created the piece is a friend, and did mention that if the price was right she would consider selling. It quite rightly won "Best in Show" up here this year, the photo doesn't really do it justice, the detail and colours are amazing. Do you think this is something that would interest anybody else?

Delroy is one of the 6 men arrested in connection with the betting syndicate investigation. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10479667/Football-match-fixing-six-arrested-by-police-investigating-betting-syndicate-as-rigging-hits-British-game.html I hope this has nothing to do with any of ours. Whoever, a lifetime ban, should suffice. Denying the fans of an honest and open game is the biggest crime of them all.

Hi everyone, my name is Ludovick Martin, I'm about to start a new blog in french for the Québec Soccer federation wich is a part of the Canadian Soccer Association. Every month I want to do a feature on a club people don't know about, as the oldest pro football club, I decided to start with Notts County. First of all I'd like to know, is there any good website out there about the history of your club? I'm not too keen on relying on Wikipedia for information. Also Id like to ask you guys a couple of questions related to the failed takover from a couple of years ago, if anyone is interested I'll simply post the here you can answer directly on the forum. Than…

I can't make it to the match this Saturday so I have given mine and George my grandson's season tickets to our next door neighbour who has a grandson who wants to go to a football match. Now here is the rub, my next door neighbour is a lovely chap but is a Fword fan, he just happened to tell me that he was thinking of taking his grandson to Notts because he didn't know how he would be with a big crowd at the ground across the river. As I wasn't using my cards I thought I would offer them to him. He was delighted and thanked me but I wondered if I had done the wrong thing. On the one hand he is a Fword fan and might bring bad luck but on the other hand they say tha…

For a bit of fun as the title says who would be your dream partnership upfront at Notts?? The partnership has to be chosen from players who have played at Meadow Lane during you time supporting Notts. My choice after much deliberation would have to be Lee Hughes & Danny Allsopp

Mrs. T. has sent an email to the Notts County Mailing list. I won't copy and paste it as it is against their rules and I respect that but the gist of it is to say that a frenzy has been whipped up over people who haven't even applied for the job and about offers that haven't been made and rejections that haven't happened, she says the shortlists only exist in the minds of the media and the club are being judged on these things. She goes on to say that her mum who but a few weeks ago was fit and well is in a hospice with cancer and by the sounds of it the outlook is bleak and that people need to take stock and give her and the family a bit of support. I have to say…

The other night I was curious with regards to how many players we had out of contract, this basically came about after I read a Nottingham Post online article. Gary Liddle stated he focusing his 'playing' and Notts's futures more important than his own, I have to admit I felt this was another Alan Judge situation. At the end of the year the following players will be out of contract; Alan Sheehan Gary Liddle Manny Smith Joss Labadie* (Was supposedly offered a contract - No news since) Yoann Arquin* (Appears to have a rolling 1 year deal) Enoch Showunmi* (Reportedly set to expire) Bartosz BiaÅ‚kowski Dean Leacock Jamal Campbell-Ryce Andre Boucaud* (Signed one-and-a-half-y…

Where do we go from here? Losing week in week out, unable to buy a point at the moment, defeat against bad sides and good sides. All of this with improved performances. I think we've established what is wrong. We have a weak spine, bar Bart. So the question is, what is to be done from here? As far as I'm concerned, we have 2 options, 1. Try and get rid of any dead wood we can in January and bring in some players to try and secure a position outside the relegation zone. Pros: - We stay in League One - We get rid of underperforming players - We get better players in Cons: - We could end up going down anyway - Cost - Players available might not be good enough 2. K…

This is a great blog from Jim about his visit to watch Notts v Wolves. He mentions meeting two Juventus fans on the way to the match, possible the two gentlemen you met @NottsJoe? Any a really good write up and worth a read, he says a lot of very complimentary things about the Notts support. http://thefootballneutral.com/2013/11/17/the-football-neutral-match-eleven-notts-county-vs-wolverhampton-wanderers/

Not only do we have players unavailable through call ups and injuries, we can now add another suspension to the list. So for the next three to five games, I would make the starting 11: Bialkowski Freeman Liddle Smith Sheehan © Boucard Campbell- Ryce McGregor Tempest Murray Haber Subs: Speiss, Holt, Thompson, Waite, Coombes I hope I haven't made an error in picking somebody unfit. But if possible that would be it for me. They keep the shirt until injured, suspended, or perform too poorly. The ot…

Ok, so IMO the club captain needs to be all of these things, not just one or two: The managers ambassador and voice on the pitch. A model professional who others can look up to and aspire to be like. Have an excellent disciplinary record. Ability to lead, be that by example or by voice. Somebody who the fans can feel a connection with. Having said that, I think we change the captaincy as our current captain does not have anywhere near all of these. I would replace him with Alan Sheehan, who has a far better disciplinary record. Is our longest serving first team member, is able to lead by example, certainly somebody that the others could look up to, the onl…
