I would start Notts with this formation on Saturday against Crewe. I'd ideally have 4 defenders and I would make sure to instruct them to get tighter, man up to the opposition and make sure they tried to force them into the centre of the park. (rather than into the flanks) We seem to allow them to pass through easily when we do. I'd have Liddle and Boucaud in midfield, with Judge playing an advanced role in which he can offer support to them when required. I'd get our left & right back(s) to go advanced when possible to provide crosses or support our attack but I wouldn't want them to always be up there. Jeff Hughes behind our Striker (playing in a forward/wing r…

Looking at the forecast for the next few days and heavy snow is expected Friday, I can't see the game being on even if it doesn't snow temperatures aren't expected to reach much above freezing so the pitch will be unplayable. Poor Ray must be tearing his hair out, Sheffield Utd would have attracted a big crowd for a Saturday, cash flow must be getting to be a bit of a problem with all these postponements. Lets hope we get to see some football soon.

Fabian Spiess is another of our own youth team products coming through the ranks here at Notts County. Born in Germany he was spotted and signed our youth system. Spiess made his professional debut on the final day of the 2011.12 season, replacing former stopper Stuart Nelson between the sticks. He came on as a substitute when no.1 Bart Bialkowski was injured during a game against Leyton Orient. The young keeper made a number fine saves despite being beat twice during the game. He followed up with an impressive first start debut and kept a clean sheet as we beat struggling Portsmouth. Young Fabian Spiess than again started against Hartlepool United where he ag…

Liam Mitchell is one of our own youth team products coming through the ranks here at Notts County. A local lad who as played for Notts during our cup clash again Rotherham United. I personally rate him, although I will openly admit to thinking Fabian is a much better prospect. None the less it is nice to see us having two reliable youngsters in our ranks. I personally hope to see him gain more league experience at some point as I think this would benefit his devolopement. He has a bright future where ever this may be. It would be nice for a youth team player to break into the first team and cement a starting position and in many ways it's easier for a keeper. Wil…

There's players out there who can do a job in this league and even higher, I'm sure in a situation where someone could argue against this I might have many who don't agree but I feel with our wage budget being near to it's capacity. We should be looking to unearth gems and give our own players who are progressing through the ranks more chances. I respect Yeovil a lot. Paddy Madden is a perfect example, shined in their game yesterday! He's someone I know very little about but I often see his name being mentioned, I keep tuned on Yeovil down to a board I post on which is theirs and the fans are very welcoming. (much to be respected) On loan he scored 9 in 15 games. He s…

Notts are still to make a big signing that fans hoped would be on its way after the departure of Lee Hughes. Anymore rumours? Apparently Beatie is back in Scotland training now. On the plus side, Judgey is still here!

I was surprised to see photos of Lee Hughes at last nights match. However a great thing to see him still supporting the club, and of course the fans will really love this. There are many of us who are sad to see him leave but it is fantastic to see that he must have enjoyed his stay at the club.....a true magpie legend! Plus nice to see a few pics of Joe and the kids:

Curle seeking home comforts Keith Curle was left ruing several missed chances against MK Dons after another home defeat for Notts County. Early goals from Darren Potter and Daniel Powell set Milton Keynes on the way to victory before a second-half penalty from Jamal Campbell-Ryce gave County hope of a comeback, but the game finished 2-1. "The players are disappointed as we have lost at home again and we don't like to lose and we need to get that resolve we have away from home," said Curle after his side's sixth league loss of the season at Meadow Lane. "We gave ourselves a mountain to climb. They probably only had three shots in the first half and scored from …

New deal for Magpies skipper Notts County captain Neal Bishop has had his contract extended by a further year. Bishop had a clause in his existing deal triggering a 12-month extension if he started more than 20 matches for the club this season. The 31-year-old midfielder has actually started all 24 of the Magpies' League One games this campaign. Manager Keith Curle was happy to confirm that Bishop will now be at Meadow Lane until at least the summer of 2014. "It's great he's going to be here for another year," Curle told the Nottingham Post. "He has led by example this season and is generally considered to be playing his best football since he's been at Notts…

Notts County are lining up a move for St Johnstone striker Craig Beattie Sky Sports understands Notts County are lining up a move for St Johnstone striker Craig Beattie. Notts County are in the market for striking reinforcements after allowing Lee Hughes to leave Meadow Lane for Port Vale. Magpies boss Keith Curle has held a long-term interest in former Celtic and West Brom striker Beattie and tried to sign him in the summer. Curle is now ready to rekindle his interest in Beattie as he looks to fill the void left by Hughes' departure. Beattie is well down the pecking order at St Johnstone and he has only made four appearances all season so he could be tempted…

Richard Butcher tragically passed away, can't believe its been that long. Went to see us play at Bournemouth near the end of the 2008/09 season, he came over and said hello to all the early arriving notts fans, he was a great guy. Never forget the winning goal he scored against Aldershot that season, the first game after Jimmy Sirrels death, I wasent there but you could tell how much it meant to the club with the roar of the crowd. Gone far too soon but never forgotten, Rest In Peace Butch

Ray Trew: Notts County fans accused of lack of support Notts County chairman Ray Trew has said that he is not prepared to invest more money in the club because of falling attendances and a lack of support. Trew posted on a fans' messageboard to say he also cannot spend more to back their League One promotion push because of salary restrictions. Trew, who said he has invested £12m since taking over in 2010, added: "I am not prepared to increase that sum. "And the only way I will inject further monies is in the form of loans." He added on Notts County Mad: "If I am being totally honest I am not motivated to even do that currently because I am not being supported…

Source What do you think Joe? I've loosely been following you guys and from what I hear he's been a solid loanee. Rumours floating around that Luton will not extend his loan and are forcing your hands into making the signing. Will he add the quality you need in the end to mount a challenge for a championship place?

I've just found time to watch all Hughsey's goals on Magpieplayer and what a pleasure it was, it made me realise how good he is and how much we are going to miss him. I think he is my favourite player after.............well Tony Hateley of course. If and when Notts sign a replacement for him they are going to have a hard job because the fans will naturally compare them to Hughesy.

I'm also hoping we don't let a few names go, but we will have to see!! Also, who are on all of your wishlists for NCFC for January 2013?

Colin Lee interested in Plymouth Argyle manager job By Brent Pilnick BBC South West Sport Former Wolves and Walsall boss Colin Lee says he would be interested in the vacant Plymouth Argyle manager's job. Lee, 56, is currently first team coach at Notts County and has strong links to Devon having previously played for and managed Torquay United. "If Plymouth Argyle want to talk to me they will have to go through Notts County as I am contracted to them," Lee told BBC South West Sport. "I'm not going to lie, it would be something I would be interested in." Devon-born Lee has experience of keeping sides in trouble up in their division, having taken over at Walsall …

Announced on Notts official website today: Striker Chris Iwelumo has returned to Watford at the end of his short-term deal which saw him join the club on the last day of the Loan window. Defenders Tom Williams and Carl Regan have been released Both Damion and Jordan Stewart have been offered new deals Talks with Luton Town regarding Midfielder Andre Boucaud are on-going. Only thing that surprises me is the release of Carl Regan, he wasent as bad as others made out i didnt think. I know there are better players out there but better players wont be happy to sit on the bench waiting for Kelly to be injured or suspended. Think we need another RB as cover for Kelly, a …

Alan Judge has been a key talking point recently regarding leaving Notts to move on to Championship sides which have shown clear interest in our attacking minded midfielder. Judgey told magpie player that he would like to stay at Notts and that he is still waiting to renew his contract here. However unofficial sources have claimed that there has been interest in Alan from many teams, some Premier League. This has left much room for speculation as a player of his quality, with an expiring contract would make a great transfer for a Championship side. Its without a doubt that Notts would miss Judgey if he moved on, but what are other fans thoughts on the matter? - Ben B…

Keith Curle as mentioned since our FA cup exit, that he will addressing our weaknesses but this means it may be a case of, one player in, one player out. Would you like to see Notts sign? Position; Attacker/Forward.... Jose Baxter Would be a good prospect if we could prize him away from Oldham, yet this would require a fee so it's not realistic but I can dream. Position; Attacker/Winger..... Stephen Elliott I personally highly rate him, his form may of taken a dip but he's always a player that can provide given the chance. I have City friends who say he's been unsettled awhile, who also rate him. Position; Defender.... Luke Shaw Highly rated young defender, who we …
