I would start Notts with this formation on Saturday against Crewe. I'd ideally have 4 defenders and I would make sure to instruct them to get tighter, man up to the opposition and make sure they tried to force them into the centre of the park. (rather than into the flanks) We seem to allow them to pass through easily when we do. I'd have Liddle and Boucaud in midfield, with Judge playing an advanced role in which he can offer support to them when required. I'd get our left & right back(s) to go advanced when possible to provide crosses or support our attack but I wouldn't want them to always be up there. Looking at the forecast for the next few days and heavy snow is expected Friday, I can't see the game being on even if it doesn't snow temperatures aren't expected to reach much above freezing so the pitch will be unplayable. Poor Ray must be tearing his hair out, Sheffield Utd would have attracted a big crowd for a Saturday, cash flow must be getting to be a bit of a problem with all these postponements. Fabian Spiess is another of our own youth team products coming through the ranks here at Notts County. Born in Germany he was spotted and signed our youth system. Spiess made his professional debut on the final day of the 2011.12 season, replacing former stopper Stuart Nelson between the sticks. Liam Mitchell is one of our own youth team products coming through the ranks here at Notts County. A local lad who as played for Notts during our cup clash again Rotherham United. I personally rate him, although I will openly admit to thinking Fabian is a much better prospect. None the less it is nice to see us having two reliable youngsters in our ranks. I personally hope to see him gain more league experience at some point as I think this would benefit his devolopement. He has a bright future where ever this may be. There's players out there who can do a job in this league and even higher, I'm sure in a situation where someone could argue against this I might have many who don't agree but I feel with our wage budget being near to it's capacity. I was surprised to see photos of Lee Hughes at last nights match. However a great thing to see him still supporting the club, and of course the fans will really love this. There are many of us who are sad to see him leave but it is fantastic to see that he must have enjoyed his stay at the club.....a true magpie legend! Plus nice to see a few pics of Joe and the kids:

New deal for Magpies skipper Notts County captain Neal Bishop has had his contract extended by a further year. Bishop had a clause in his existing deal triggering a 12-month extension if he started more than 20 matches for the club this season. Richard Butcher tragically passed away, can't believe its been that long. Went to see us play at Bournemouth near the end of the 2008/09 season, he came over and said hello to all the early arriving notts fans, he was a great guy. Never forget the winning goal he scored against Aldershot that season, the first game after Jimmy Sirrels death, I wasent there but you could tell how much it meant to the club with the roar of the crowd. I've just found time to watch all Hughsey's goals on Magpieplayer and what a pleasure it was, it made me realise how good he is and how much we are going to miss him. I think he is my favourite player after.............well Tony Hateley of course. If and when Notts sign a replacement for him they are going to have a hard job because the fans will naturally compare them to Hughesy.
