I've seen a lot of talk on Twitter about the scrapping of FA Cup replays and that sides from non league have missed out on important revenue. Guiseley, Kettering (even though they won in extra time), Weston-super-Mare, Maidenhead, Southend and Forest Green all missed out on replays due to the scrapping of them. That brings me to the bigger question. What, in modern day football, needs to be changed or what would you change to bring back our game. FA Cup replays, independent regulator, distribution of money to other leagues, salaries etc? What's your opinions?

One has to query the "inputs" especially where you see where they have placed Morecambe! Notts will have lost a few points on financial transparency though. The owners are maybe the best in my lifetime and the building of the club off the field is second to none.

i have been watching a lot of pundit videos on football, along with vlogs and articles. our recent game against tranmere rovers was a very enjoyable game. not just because of how notts played but also how tranmere did, the game was very lively and i thought the atmosphere made it even greater. but i found myself asking are we being too critical at times? does it effect the fun of watching games back? dan crowley missed a sitter, after david mcgoldrick hit the post from his shot. it bounced around and somehow perfectly found its way to matt palmer. who put in an excellent pass for crowley who really should have scored but placed the ball wide of the goal pos…

This is not a poll but just a discussion on who PON members think is their player that has excelled the most in the first 14 games. Notts have had a great start to the season & in their first 14 games they stand in third place in the table, scoring 22 & conceding just 12 goals. We have seen some excellent performances by all the Notts players, especially the new ones that arrived over summer. We can't forget the contributions from players who are out with injuries, such as Jones, Edwards & Grant, who helped Notts make a great start, & hopefully they will return in January. The Notts defensive unit of Bedeau, Platt & Macari have bee…

The Following Question has been Raised and I'd like to Know, Which Is It ? To My Fellow PON Members. Over the past Few weeks the Magpies Match Reports on the B.B.C. Website have changed. The Boys in the Black & White Stripes Used to be Called Notts County. However in Match Reports they are Now Simply Referred to as Notts. And it seems that some Magpies Fans are Up in Arms about it. Asking why our Team are Now just Written as Notts and Not Notts County? So Where Do You Stand On The Issue? Dose It Bother You If You're Called A Notts Fan? Do You Call Yourself A Notts Fan? Or should the Magpies be called by their Full Title Notts County? And You…

I'm sure I'm Not the only Notts County Fan having Cause For Concern, regarding the form of Cedwyn Scott. He came to the Lane not long after the arrival of his Gateshead Team Mate Macaulay Langstaff and along with Macca a Bag Full of Goals. The Strange thing was the then Notts Head Coach Luke Williams swapped the Players positions around and for a time didn't even play them along side each other in Matches, but when they did play together Scott still played a Striker's Role. in fact during the Season in the National League I believe Scotts Strike Rate was even better per games played than Langstaff's (please advise me if I'm wrong). The two Most Stand Out Memories (f…

Good news for Notts, Rod McDonald & Lucas Ness are coming back to match fitness & in Rod McDonald's case, he is available for selection. Up till now, Stuart Maynard has had a settled back line for the first ten games, Lewis Macari, Jacob Bedeau, & Matty Platt have done superbly, with Rob Cundy filling in off the bench Stuart McDonald has impressed Stuart when playing for Notts in two EFL trophy games & Lucas Ness impressed playing his first 45 minutes of the season in the 2nd of those games. There has been talk of McDonald replacing Macari in the first 11. Question. Do PON members think Stuart should make a change to the back three for the …

Nice article on Notts County FA Cup hero, Jimmy Logan, by Chris Evans for the BBC. Jimmy Logan: How Notts County's FA Cup final hat-trick hero finally got a headstone WWW.BBC.CO.UK Two years after scoring a hat-trick in the 1894 FA Cup final, Jimmy Logan was buried in...

Stuart Maynard has certainly transformed the Notts County fortunes this season so far. Just one defeat in eleven matches since the start of the season. In what ways do PON members believe Notts have improved under Stuart & do you think that he can improve the team even further?

There's been lots of talk about Stuart Maynard using Inverted Wingbacks this season, but what does the term actually mean? "The main difference between an inverted wingback & a standard wingback is that an inverted wingback drifts inside to create space & support the attack, while a standard wingback provides width to the attack": Inverted wingback "Drifts inside from the flank or a central position to support the attack. They can switch between attacking, defending, & supporting duties depending on the team's mentality". Standard wingback "Usually the widest player on the field, their role is to stretch the pitch & provide wid…

We had a very good player on our hands when we signed Johnnie Jackson. I thought it was a brilliant signing, and I believe his time with us could have been better had he managed to settle in Nottingham. However, I overheard comments he made about Notts, Nottingham, and other matters during a meeting at my former workplace. The media reported that he couldn't settle with his family in Nottingham, but the truth is he saw signing for us as a step back in his career. He believed he was bigger than Notts County and had already made efforts to leave, but we would only allow him to go out on loan at first. Professional players sometimes come with attitudes, and wh…

This Annoys Me About Notts (I know it shouldn't but it Just Does) Why is it when the Magpies play away from home, and there's No Colour Clash (shirt wise as it was yesterday) why is it that Notts Don't play in their Traditional Black & White Stripes? After all they are the Colours Notts are known for, you'd think the Club would want to play in them, whenever they can. And Yes I Know there are Different Sponsors on the Orange and Blue/Purple Shirts, but there must be away around this, even if the Away Kit just consisted of a simple White shirt with Black Shorts' it's Not The Stripes I know, but it's still the Clubs Black & White Colouring associated with the …

Notts have made a good start & in their first 10 league matches they have won 5 & lost only 2. Unfortunately, Notts have played 3 of the top teams but have lost two of them & drawn 1. That is just 1 point from those three matches. Four of their wins came against teams currently in the bottom 6. Last season, Notts had a poor record against the top 7 sides only gaining 19 points from a possible 60. This season Notts know that they will need to take more points from these top of the league tussles to either get into the playoffs or better still get automatic promotion. Notts will be meeting Doncaster & Walsall soon who are in the top 7 pre…

Hi all, back in 2010 I purchased 1 of 100 commemorative bottles of whisky celebrating 100 years at Meadow Lane. It's in the loft for the grandchildren. Has anyone else got one, there were 100. Has anyone opened it? Is it a decent dram? I've done a search online and there's no record out there.
