Notts have played 3 friendly matches and the Notts squad is getting the match practice they need. Stuart Maynard will be mulling over who should be in his first eleven. Notts have signed seven new players in key positions & we may see more, so it is going to be a challenge for Stuart to name his first eleven without too much of a delay. Settled sides are usually the successful sides. I'm going to put myself in Stuart's shoes & name my Notts eleven after what we have seen so far. Do PON members have their preferred eleven or you may think that it is too early to tell?

The news that Kyle Cameron had been loaned out to St Johnstone of the Scottish Premier League came as a bit of a shock to me. Of course, Kyle will have to fight for a place, & prove himself worthy of a place in the St Johnstone team. But what an opportunity for Kyle to be part of a team that will be mixing with the big boys such as Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen & Dundee United. Celtic & Rangers will be mixing with the big boys of Europe too, so on paper it looks to be a dream move for Kyle and I wish him well. Kyle moving on loan to a higher standard of football does raise a question from me. If Kyle wasn't deemed good enough to fight for …

So it's been decided that the New Notts Fan Zone is being called the Nest. How Boring they must be something better or exciting more in tune with the Magpies. Going on the Old Internet I've come up with A Conventicle, A Gulp, A Mischief A Tidings or Tribe of Magpies. Any of those have to be better than The Nest. My Favourite one is A Tribe of Magpies. A Fan Zone called the Tribe of Magpies gives the impression of Fan togetherness and the Support of the Players and Club. The Nest Give me a Break. So my fellow PON Members what's your Favourite and Why?

Notts has been successful in retaining key players for a while now. There was a sense of disappointment when Ruben Rodrigues left on a free transfer to join Oxford. However, this was offset by the permanent signings of Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley. For the most part, the club has recruited players to heighten the anticipation ahead of the new campaign. The departures of Kyle Cameron, potentially Macaulay Langstaff, and to some extent, Tiernan Brooks, do leave one wondering who might be next. The crucial aspect, in my opinion, is to ensure that the excitement generated by new arrivals outweighs the disappointment of the departures. Regardless of your feelings about…

Now Macca has gone to Millwall Notts will need a new penalty taker. We have had two very successful penalty takers in the last few years. Ruben Rodriguez was our very successful penalty taker in our National League promotion season. When he left to go to Oxford, Macaulay took over the mantle and although he didn't have many penalties to take last season he never missed one. Now Notts will choose a new player to take on the responsibility, but who will he be? My choice would be between Cedwyn Scott or Jodi Jones, but which choice of the Notts players would be your choice?

I would be quite upset unless the transfer fee was truly justified. An upfront payment of £700,000 is far too low. Even if potential add-ons could increase it to around £2,000,000, it would depend on how likely Notts would be to receive that money. In my opinion, £2,000,000 is a low price for a striker who can score goals when given the opportunity. If he does leave, I hope Cedwyn Scott gets more playing time as a striker. He seems to be the best option, and we also have Alassana Jatta. Selling our top striker doesn’t lessen the blow, but I do hope that Scott gets more time in the striker’s position. I would also hope that Notts reinvests some of the money from …

i am hoping the next signing addresses the keeper situation we have, sam slocombe is injury prone and tiernan brooks is untested but i would like to see that change. i just feel we need a stronger option to force competition between the keepers. i would like another cb, along with a wingback and a central midfielder that is not like what we have. that would be 4 more signings, 27 players in the squad. giving us option to play the youngsters in the right environment. rawlinson and randall may end up being released, which would open the door. i am hoping we avoid having a squad around 24 players in size and go further a large one with depth. thoughts? gk …

I’ve just watched a video of fans celebrating the England goal in the nest, it seems the latest fad is to chuck your beer up in the air. I’d have thought the price they pay for it they wouldn’t want to throw it away or is the beer that bad? I’m glad I wasn’t there, I don’t fancy getting a beer shampoo.
