Round six:

Clue - This lethal finisher began his career with a Midlands club and rapidly made a name for himself as a formidable goalscorer. He’s not the “Ray Trew” prolific type, but rather a true master of finding the back of the net.

Good luck!

I suspect that this is Frank Vincent, with his recent release.

Yes, he has retired. He had a very successful career, though not without its lows. His presence would divide opinions until you saw him play. Most of the clubs he had stints with would call him a lege

@CliftonMagpie, you’ve provided so much detail that my brain is doing the cha-cha! @super_ram, I am loving it. If you could see me right now, you’d wonder why my tash is doing the tango. ????

Tommy Johnson started his professional career at Notts and was highly successful in his early years, though less so as time went on. I also thought of him when reading the description.

I’m going to have to nick a stock question on here, did he ever play for Derby? (Sorry @super_ram????)

Well played @Fan of Big Tone, he was on my initial list of 3 players I thought it could be. Unfortunately, I tried to eliminate the wrong one first!

Sorry about that! Earlier, I thought I had sent this message but it appears it was left unsent on my screen. Now it’s finally here. I’ll wait for a few questions before revealing anything in great detail. I’m aiming for 3 to 4 rounds of accurate guesses!

Round 8:
Clue: He came from London, but he wandered far and wide. He played in many places, but he never stayed for long. Who is he?

Hello @Fan of Big Tone, the objective of this game is to discover the identity of a former Notts player or manager. Indeed, this individual did play for Notts.

Ah sorry @CliftonMagpie being late to the party I hadn’t realised I thought it was any player. Right that narrows it down, I’ll get my thinking cap on.

Good guess, London lad that has played for Torquay and Bournemouth. That covers some distance and he fits quite well but it could be anyone born in London that has played for Notts.

It would be quite sneaky if you had chosen Frank Vincent, @CliftonMagpie. I’m waiting for your reply to see if that’s correct. If it’s not, could you give us another club to guess?

Good guess @upthepieswhich has made me think of another current player, John Bostock. Born in Camberwell, played across Europe and also Toronto. Plus he never stays at a club for that long (well, not since his Spurs days).

It’s not Frank Vincent or John Bostock, although both are excellent guesses based on the limited information provided in the first clue.

The second clue: He is now a manager. The first four teams he played for have a very interesting pattern that was only broken after he signed from one London club to another.
