I'll keep a closer eye on this thread now - Britain may be a democracy of sorts, but PON isn't and I reserve the right to bring down the jackboot of justice and close the thread if mud starts flying.

i am pleased labour won, and won easily. i don't have much faith in the other parties but the tories had to go. everything that we can be passionate about the tories would have ruined further. i was worried the nhs would fall under them. we have the chance as a nation to try to give a few years of rebuilding and hopefully we can get back on track. politics needs to wake up from this.

the tory party need to pull themselves out of their crisis and try to do right by the people.

tho the tories always seem very focused on their friends and the super rich, than the average worker like me.

My take is that after the honeymoon period that a new government always has this government will progressively become divided with the various factions of the Labour Party, wanting to influence policy.

I think this government will become increasingly unpopular just as the Tories did as uncontrolled immigration & illegal immigration will increase substantially under Labour, putting the NHS, housing & our schools under increasing strain.

Despite who voted for whom, we need to try to get behind making Great Britian a better place to live. This was never going to happen under the Tories, life has been getting worse and worse. The only people who seem to be proud are those coming over to live here. I don't mean this in any disrespectful way, but whilst we have families who are struggling to afford their next meal, elderly people choosing not to use electric or gas due to the price - that is very shameful of the government.

There were people complaining about having free hotel stays, no worries over food and seeming very ungrateful.

I hope under the Labour Party they can get a grip and re-balance things. The UK will have poor families, but the Tories certainly made it worse. Have we ever seen such a demand for food banks?

I don't think this has changed a great deal for the outlook of the country. The same underlying issues will remain and worsen. These issues are affecting most Western nations and there is no answer for it beyond the current infinite loop.

My fear is that there is an impending backlash as populations become more and more dissatisfied and disenfranchised with the way their countries are heading. We can start to see the shoots take root already; a lot of France voting far-right to get far-left, large percentage of Reform voters in UK to get limited representation in MPs.

If there is no sensible strategy to divert from the current path, we will end up with the looney bins on the extremes (right and left), an ever more divided population base. Bleak outlook.

Whilst seemingly not agreeing with @Robbieon his views on North Sea Oil ( the oil is sold on global markets, the UK don't have any rights to "first call"

A Cumbrian coal mine undermining (pun intended) ruining the Lake District. No it's not OK

Yes @Fan of Big Tone you can close this

A cartoon to finish off this thread, in a lighter hearted mood
