I think Brexit will go down as the biggest farce in British political history.  It was sheer stupidity to ask the general public to vote on an issue as complicated as this.  The campaign from both sid

Very easy to blame brexit, truth is while ever different countries have different rules, health services , benefit systems and such like, a United europe could never work. With freedom of movement people were always going to flock to a select few places where they would be better off. If a united Europe had the same rules etc right across the board I could see it working, but every countries leader looks after their own interests,  it really doesn't matter what Joe public think.

@DonnyNotts "Very easy to blame brexit".. well, if you are referring to the previous post of "Happy Toast" then the causes shown, are a consequence of Brexit. The EU was more of setting the frameworks, of which the UK had some major inputs. "Health services, Benefit systems" still remained the preserve of each individual countries own governments. What we are seeing now, is the UK being harmed by being outside of both the Single Market and the Customs Union. UK has assumed 3rd Country status and for what benefit? So far, there have been zero real tangible benefits of Brexit.

We will have to disagree,  for all the reasons stated above i think a united europe could never work. Will what we have be better?, perhaps not time will tell, I actually voted to stay in because I think Johnson is useless,  but I was in the few so have to accept it. Not that I thought Europe was the answer, because I don't think it is, we are an overpopulated little island with no infrastructure to cope with the way we were heading, but in fairness we are still on that road.

Good to have some discussion with @DonnyNotts. The notion of a "united Europe" is only really put out by the Alt-Right influencers. People have trouble naming a single EU law / directive that they disagree with, in 40+ years of being in the EU. "overpopulated little island"... external immigration into the UK from outside the EU has gone completely unchecked for years. Boris, is now offering UK sanctuary for 3 million HK nationals, where are they going to settle in the UK... driving up house prices even further. A proposal of a trade deal with India, sounds good but the Indian government will want visa free travel arrangements in return. How high is the population of India!!!!

Everything is a trade off. I don't accept the EU referendum result as people didn't understand what they were voting for...and it has made all of our lives poorer, economically and culturally

I accept the result because it was vote in a democracy,  I have no choice, I voted and was in a minority.  If in the future there is another vote I would very possibly vote to rejoin the European Union,  but I am not sure there will be much of it left as we knew it
