I read those and they are all so easy to disprove - for example a 1% increase in trade with out EU partners was significantly more in £ terms than with the other countries - 1% of £55 billion is greater than 2.8% of £5 billion (or whatever the figure is).

Small firms have been disproportionally hit compared to big companies by Brexit - far from not looking after smaller companies the single marker facilitated them, as they did not need to face export barriers to trade in the EU.  Now they either need a presence in the EU or struggle under the mountain of paperwork needed to get product abroad. The EU may be a protectionist negotiator but then so are most large countries or blocks - the US, India and China are no different.  Is it not better to be inside a large trading block, rather than small and outside?

I could go on, but I won't.  Brexit has happened, it has failed miserably, but we need to get on an accept we are all poorer for it and get on with it.  I mean poorer, not just in terms of economics, but world standing, culturally and happiness as a country - I have never known the country to be so hostile and miserable. I work for a large multinational and am regularly told how fortunate my colleagues feel not living in the UK or the US... both are seen as basket cases. We are closing our UK operations (my department is in the US and I work remotely), but that decision was based partly on it being more difficult to work with Europe and the UK being a small market.  Our focus is in Ireland and Germany.

I agree we need to move on, but Brexit will never work.  What is Brexit for a start - it is a collection of slogans; 'taking back control' (whatever that means), 'sovereignty' (whatever that means), but nothing of substance.  It is interpreted as different things to different people, so there is no 'one direction' to pull in order to make things work.  There was no plan, there is no plan and until one party has the courage to say 'this is what Brexit means, vote us in on that basis' we will forever flounder in the sea of international politics and economics.  It was built on lies and so is destined to fail.

@Ohh Tommy Johnson we'll just have to agree to disagree on Brexit.

My number one motivation to support Brexit was to regain back sovereignty & live by our laws, not foreign laws decided by 27 out of 28 Countries.

Brexit gave our government the opportunity to take full advantage of the freedom that Brexit gives us.

A global UK that looks to the rest of the World to freely trade with. The World economy & GDP is increasing, and we have to tap into that. whereas the EU economy and GDP is decreasing as a share of World GDP.

Whether successive Governments succeed or fail in taking advantage of Brexit will be down to those governments. Not Brexit.

On Brexit, I don't agree with you, but we do have something very important in common, we both love Notts.????

So, in 45 or so years, name the EU laws you didn't like?

Sovereignty, is meaningless in an international perspective. The UK has to respect international law, as registered at the United Nations amongst others. The UK has to respect the laws of other countries whose own laws are sovereign to them

Where is the evidence? In a world of global competition, the fact that UK has to say lower food standards, lower cost bases = lower wages, lower benefits, less trade with the EU = less tax revenue to support the needs of the NHS

Most of the trade deals, are just cosmetic rollovers of the existing EU trade deals

My business is down in London and I can see first hand how Sadiq Khan has done a reasonable job, given that Brexit has impacted his tax take..and dont get me on the closure of many London police stations by successive Tory govts ( and actually started by Boris)

Everything is a trade off and the UK has been extremely damaged by Brexit. 

I am sorry that  @Robbie takes a different view but I am so patriotic that I bang the drum to point out the lunacy and damage it's done to the UK

Finally , Brexit has damaged #Notts. Our Danish owners, benefited from the EU's freedom of movement...and now we cant find the next Ruben from the EU leagues, preventing #Notts from gaining a significant competitive advantage!

@Piethagoram I don't agree with your opinion, you don't agree with mine, so we disagree, ok we disagree, but this forum respects all opinions as I respect yours, so I would hope you respect mine too, even if you disagree.

Just remember millions of Labour voters voted for Brexit too and they are not 'Alt Right'

Looking at this thread there hasn't been much debate as I can see, just one way traffic, so it's healthy to have respectful debate on an important subject.

No matter how we both feel whether for or against Brexit, is it time to move on now and make the most of Brexit just as we did for 45 years of being tied to the EEC and EU?

PS, Incidentally, I voted in the first referendum in 1975 to stay in the EEC, but I never voted for a political union, nor did millions of other people
