Water lake discovered on Mars

Featured Replies

There's a lot more out there to be discovered but the fact they believe water is on Mars, this makes a significant finding for future research.

"It's probably not a very large lake," said Prof Roberto Orosei from the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics, who led the study.

Marsis wasn't able to determine how thick the layer of water might be, but the research team estimate that it is a minimum of one metre.

"This really qualifies this as a body of water. A lake, not some kind of meltwater filling some space between rock and ice, as happens in certain glaciers on Earth," Prof Orosei added.

Who cares about the size of the lake? It's interesting just to see that they suspect frozen water has been found.

Really fascinating discovery, I hope they continue probing to unearth more discoveries like this about the planet.

Fascinating break through, it might seem small but it's big progress. NASA will be exploring further.

Pretty cool discovery I agree, if they can find more it would look promising.

Could Mars be like what might happen to Earth but in reverse to the rising water?

This is pretty uber, I wonder if they will do a space mission in the near future to try and see more about Mars? Get a probe to see if the area does have frozen water.
