Just a warning for those who park on the embankment, it’s the River Festival and the embankment is full of fairground rides and is shut from near the suspension bridge to Trent Bridge. 

Where do people park if not embankment (preferably for free as I’m a tight bugger).

Park at Forests ground as its either free or 3 pound. The one next to Meadow Lane is 6 I think but is a nightmare after the game.

Park near the Wickes, there is loads of room around there where you can park and the walk takes like 10 minutes if that.

I think there's a few areas you might need to be mindful are only allowed for residents.

Most fans tend to park in the shopping centres but don't do that, I have seen them ticketed and clamped before.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I’m actually thinking I might use my old codgers bus pass to get down there, I hardly ever use it and it will save the petrol, trouble is I have to catch two buses.

I'm hoping to get a spot on The Nav @Fan of Big Tone  would hate to have to catch 2 buses.

You may have to park further a way and walk it.

I park in the car park near to the away end and I don't mind paying the small fee, it gets busy mind.

i catch the bus from broadmarsh to the embankment stop, its easy enough.

free parking at Clifton Park and Ride....then just £2 return on tram, OK got to walk from the Midland station

Also it's only a £5 to park at the train station all day on a Saturday, I normally park there if I can't park elsewhere

There is plenty of free street parking in the roads off Holme Street, which is by the Jet petrol station opposite SCS in Lady Bay retail park.  It's less than 10 minutes walk to the ground, although it does fill up so you would need to get there reasonably early.  It also has the advantage of a quick getaway which most of the paid car parks don't have.   I got lucky with parking, I know someone who works at SCS and he registered my number plate as a staff car, so I can park in the retail park there and the two hour limit doesn't apply to me.  It saves me around  £125 per season if I had to use the £5 car parks.

I forgot about the riverside festival but the car parks are better and cheaper than some I’ve seen

Don't park anywhere the ground, it's a nightmare to leave after the game and you just sit in traffic for ages. If anyone offers me a lift, I refuse because of this madness.

This is would be easier than parking anywhere near the ground.

If you leave early enough there's no issues with traffic, you can also stay behind a little longer for it to clear.

I used to hate parking near Meadow Lane on match days, I have no idea what it is like now but when I regularly attended games the crowds was much higher than they are now and it was a blooming nightmare.

I went on the bus in the end and quite by chance met an old work colleague who was also going to the match so it was great to catch up.
