Hello, @Jake. It's great to be welcoming you! I look forward to seeing you around PON.
  2. Hello, @Scotty. Welcome to the community! You should enjoy PON a lot.
  3. I’d put myself forward to moderate, but I reckon it might be a commitment that my schedule wouldn’t permit. I do hope PON has success in finding folks to take on these roles, as they’re bound to make a significant impact.
  4. I sincerely doubt there’s any genuine interest. If there were, I’d expect more than just Swansea City showing interest in him. Numerous teams would likely enquire about Macaulay Langstaff, given his striking abilities. If teams like Peterborough, Lincoln City, Blackburn, and Plymouth Argyle were also mentioned, then I’d be more inclined to believe there’s substance to it. As it stands, it’s only Swansea City and a few casual remarks made when Luke Williams first took over.
  5. Virtue was unnoticeable with us, leaving no significant impact. To me, he seemed like a young player who needed to move down the football pyramid. Alternatively, he might have thought he was above our level. Although he did some positive things, his performances were not sufficient.
  6. I think this signing is a masterstroke by Notts County. Rod McDonald brings a wealth of experience and a winning mentality, which are pivotal for a successful campaign. Reuniting with players he has previously played with, like Jodi Jones and Cedwyn Scott, could create some exciting on-field dynamics. It's fantastic that he sees the potential in the squad and believes in the gaffer’s vision. What stands out most for me is his balanced approach to the game, focusing on both playing out from the back and strong defence. Here’s to hoping this translates into a memorable season for the fans and the club!
  7. Welcome to Meadow Lane, Rod McDonald. He seems to be an outstanding addition to the squad. Once the pre-season kicks off, it will be interesting to see which players make the starting line-up and who might be on the bench. It’s good to see that the defence is the primary focus early on!
  8. It’s always pleasant to discover something new. Hayley Turner is making Notts proud.
  9. It’s fantastic to see Macaulay Langstaff and Jodi Jones in the team of the year. It would be wonderful to see a few more players make it next season. Regardless of what happens, I just want all the players to excel for themselves.
  10. The video was enjoyable to watch. Stuart Maynard may need to win some people over, but that should happen with time. He won’t be concerned about that. The squad should manage itself, but under his guidance, we should anticipate a promising season ahead.
  11. The efforts put in by the ground staff have been nothing less than outstanding. The pitch looks so pristine, it almost seems too good to play on. I hope the team reciprocates their hard work by accumulating many points over the season when they do take to the field. It’s certainly worth forgoing any home friendlies just to maintain such a splendid surface.
  12. Welcome @Up the Maggies the, it’s lovely to have you join us on the site. PON is a fantastic community, which is further enriched by fans taking the time to respond. It’s wonderful to have you with us! The 1990s was mostly a good decade for us. “Up the Maggies” certainly has a nice ring to it.
  13. Happy Birthday, @Fan of Big Tone. It’s lovely to know you’ve enjoyed a whole week of festivities.
  14. Nick's comments about Crawley Town are genuinely heartfelt. It's clear he had a deep connection with the club and its fans. The way he describes the club's philosophy and ambition shows that he's thought a lot about this move and believes it's the right step for his career. I appreciate his honesty about the challenges ahead and his readiness to work hard.
  15. I’m beyond thrilled about this signing! Alex Bass is highly regarded in League Two and League One, and for good reason. His clean sheet record last season was phenomenal. We’ve had our defensive issues, but with Bass in goal, I believe we’ll see significant improvements. He’s also great on the ball, which fits perfectly with our playing style. It’s always reassuring when the board makes such smart moves. Looking forward to seeing how the team gels with him.
  16. The trial event should highlight what is effective and what isn’t. The Nest ought to be the premier destination for supporters, not the priciest or a place that constantly seeks ways to make fans spend unnecessarily. As I’ve mentioned, I trust the club will heed fan feedback and implement necessary adjustments. However, at present, I wouldn’t choose to visit it myself, which is regrettable as I was initially keen on the idea. My preference is to financially support the club before matches, but I’m considerate of the company I keep. Additionally, it doesn’t appear to be very family-friendly, which is disappointing.
  17. No, we must sign the right players, not just those with League Two experience. Quality surpasses league experience, and some players simply need time to adapt. Players of higher quality are more likely to progress with the club than those with only League Two experience. Often, players stay in a division due to their skill level, which is what Notts should focus on when assessing. Statistics can be misleading and shouldn’t be the sole factor.
  18. I’m worried that the cost is too high; booking a table for six shouldn’t be £10 per person, that’s unreasonable. Charging for standing room is also excessive. I hope they reconsider these charges to attract more customers. It’s about finding the right balance between making a profit and offering fair prices. The Nest could be filled with happy customers paying reasonable fees, rather than empty because people can’t afford continuous drink purchases. It looks great, but fans might opt for the Navi instead, where beer prices are similar and their friends aren’t charged just to join them.
  19. He was a fine player, even admired by our nearest rivals. His time at Arsenal proved his skill, and he was an excellent forward. Rest in Peace, Kevin Campbell.
  20. The team is in need of a new goalkeeper, one who brings experience but isn’t too advanced in age. An ideal candidate would be between 23-26 years old, which would provide Tiernan Brooks ample opportunity to emerge as the future first-choice keeper. Regarding strikers, there seems to be no pressing need. Junior Morias, despite limited game time, has shown promise when played. It would be advantageous to recruit a player in the mould of a young Jim O’Brien, someone who is both a leader and reliable. However, Notts’ preference for younger players might make this challenging. On the defence front, signing two additional centre backs could be unnecessary while Connell Rawlinson is still part of the team. He’s on the transfer list, but I’m hopeful he’ll have a chance to prove his worth, especially with Matt Platt and Jacob Bedeau as potential partners. Overall, the squad is looking strong. My main hope is that the club avoids signing more up-and-coming players who could encroach on the playing time of James Sanderson and Luther Munakandafa.
  21. The match wasn’t as bad as it seemed; Wimbledon just managed to snatch the win. It was odd that their fans thought the ref favoured us, given the number of fouls they committed. They could’ve had more players sent off, but they stayed strong. Our good moments didn’t turn into goals, and after they scored, it looked like they might get another.
  22. The strengths Sam Austin brings to Notts cannot be overstated, from his versatility on the pitch to his vocal appreciation for fan support. In times when both players and fans feel the strain of expectations and results, his words are a powerful reminder of the mutual support and resilience within our community. Let’s mirror Sam’s gratitude and push the team forward with positivity!
  23. Postponed matches can be annoying, but it appears Stuart Maynard has taken it in stride. The team’s performance could improve, but the extra training time for this weekend’s match against Wimbledon should have some benefits. A victory would ease some tension, as I believe the problem isn’t with the management but with individual players costing the team points.
  24. Notts will need to hope that we can involve Jodi Jones more, either with his assists or scoring a goal. Macaulay Langstaff will also be crucial when given any opportunities. A good team performance all around would be great. AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to take the points home and having defeated us earlier in the season, I’m sure they’ll come well prepared.
  25. There are still many points up for grabs, and despite our poor form, we haven’t slipped too far. Not as far as the club could have, which is a silver lining. Being just 4 points away from a turnaround and considering how tight the League Two table is, there’s a chance for things to improve under Stuart Maynard. Sadly, a lot of this hinges on whether Notts can keep most fans on board and steer clear of the looming cloud of doom. I believe the team still has the potential to secure victories, but the recurring issue of conceding goals is a concern. There seem to be more factors working against the club’s chances of reaching the playoffs than in favour. Regardless, we should be grateful to be back and feel more content than most teams that have just returned to the English Football League.
