  1. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham, we're glad to have you as a new member of the fan site!
  2. This should be a runaway poll in favour of Macaulay Langstaff as the Signing of the Season. His goals and teamwork have been outstanding and he’s been a true hitman up front. He’s brought so much to the team and it’s been a pleasure to watch him play.
  3. I’m casting my vote based on the quality of the member’s posts. I appreciate someone who enjoys sharing their thoughts and contributing to the PON arena with insightful and thought-provoking content.
  4. Notts County has a long-standing tradition of nurturing and developing talented football players. Some notable examples include Wes Morgan, David McGoldrick, and Jermaine Pennant, all of whom got their start at Notts. Mark Draper and Tommy Johnson are also players who honed their skills at the club. In recent years, we've seen a new generation of promising young players emerge, such as Dongda He, Jack Bearne, Kion Etete, and Kole Lambert. It's unfortunate that some of these talented players were allowed to leave the club before reaching their full potential.
  5. Over the years, Notts County has been home to some truly great players, such as Phil Turner, Mark Stallard, and Ben Davies. Jim O’Brien is another player who deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as these legends. However, when it comes to pure talent and class on the field, I believe that Lee Hughes stands out as one of the best strikers Notts has ever had. He remains one of my all-time favorite players.
  6. While Boreham Wood may have had a relatively average performance throughout the season and have relied on luck at times, they have consistently shown that they are a force to be reckoned with during the playoffs. Despite this, I believe that we shouldn’t be overly concerned about facing them.
  7. What about Don Masson? Could it be him?
  8. Jim is a truly classy player. Despite his comments about being referred to as ‘experienced’, he remains one of the most motivational players Notts has. He deserves nothing but respect for his contributions to the team.
  9. I like Ryan Reynolds’ sentiment and to wish Notts County all the best. It would be a shame if we missed out on promotion. Preparing for the playoffs is crucial to settle the squad and give it their all. Let’s hope for the best!
  10. Hello @Dry Nelson Ray, Welcome! It's a pleasure to have you here. I am looking forward to seeing your interactions with us.
  11. With his focus intact, he has the potential for a bright career. It's my sincere hope that Notts County will provide him with more chances to play in the next season, as I don't believe we need to depend on the loan market for a goalkeeper. It's important that we cultivate young talent and give them the necessary support to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
  12. I must say, I was impressed by his performance at Notts. It's hard to believe how much time has passed since we last played in the Football League. However, when you reflect on it, it's clear that we have been out of it for quite a while. Despite that, he still managed to demonstrate some exceptional skills that stood out to me during the matches he played back in League One.
  13. Wow, what a free kick from John Bostock! I was initially expecting Jim O'Brien to take it, but I'm glad Bostock found the back of the net. O'Brien was fantastic going forward, and his ability to win the ball back was invaluable. His presence in the first half was crucial. Unfortunately, Ruben Rodrigues didn't contribute much, although he did well to win the free kick. The fact that he lost a tooth is a testament to how rough Wrexham were at times. Defensively, Notts were lacking when it mattered most, but in such a high-stakes game, it's understandable. I don't blame anyone, I just wish we could have come out on top.
  14. Notts needed to step up their pass accuracy in the first half. I thought Jim O'Brien did well to win the ball back at times and dart forward. Ruben Rodrigues offered little defensively; when it mattered, Notts were clumsy. Good goal by John Bostock!
  15. It's concerning to hear about the leaked documents that reveal Roman Abramovich's covert funding of Vitesse Arnhem and bankrolling the club while he owned Chelsea. Even though representatives for Chelsea and Abramovich denied any formal link between the two clubs, the documents suggest otherwise. UEFA rules prevent two clubs under common ownership from playing in the same competition, and it seems like Chelsea may have wanted to avoid any problems related to the two clubs' links. The use of offshore tax havens to structure loans is also worrying.
  16. It's a sad story of how dreams can turn into nightmares. Malaga football club's owner, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani, had grand plans to turn the club into a money-means-nothing superpower, but financial fair play rules and failed investments, including a proposed 400 million euro marina in Marbella, left the club with unmanageable debts. Al-Thani was removed as club president in 2020 due to alleged misappropriation of funds, and the club has struggled on the field ever since. It's a cautionary tale of the dangers of chasing unrealistic dreams without proper financial planning.
  17. "When two tribes go to war. A point is all that you can score (Score them all, score them all)" - this Frankie Goes to Hollywood quote perfectly encapsulates the high-stakes clash between Wrexham and Notts County. I know that this match is going to be an absolute must-win if we are to keep our title hopes alive. Wrexham is a strong opponent, and we're expecting a farce contest. It's going to be a classic game that both teams will look back on, regardless of the final result. We need to put our best foot forward and leave everything on the pitch. We're not just playing for the promotion, but also for the pride and glory of our beloved club. It's going to be a nerve-wracking experience, but we have full faith in our players to deliver the goods. Ultimately, a point may be all that we can score, but we'll be pushing for all three. Let's hope that this game lives up to its hype and gives us something to cheer about. Come on you Pies!
  18. 100% Sam Slocombe is needed, with all due respect to Mair, Notts needs to stick with the experience if he's able to play without issues.
  19. It didn't take long for those negative minds in the fan base to suggest he needed to be dropped because he wasn't performing "well". However, he appeared fatigued and drained, which could explain his subpar performances. While he did look better against Scunthorpe, I suspect his role and duties may have been adjusted to keep him in the side. There is nothing wrong with suggesting a player needs to be rested, but what I am referring to are those who believe he has become a poor player. These individuals are borderline idiots.
  20. I thought the entire squad played well, given what they were up against. You can only beat the team in front of you, and Notts did it in style. I think Jim silenced his critics with his performance, even though Scunthorpe were poor, he showed his class and helped drive Notts forward. 4-0 flattered Scunthorpe United, as Notts could have easily scored several more goals. Their keeper, who they brought in on loan a few hours before the game, was very weak. His kicking was hilarious!
  21. Considering the coldness and television presence, both teams made it a good game. Dagenham caused a lot of issues early on, but defensively they did not cope as much with Notts. I think we lead the game quite luckily, as we did not seem clinical enough on goal. Their equaliser, I feel was well deserved and it was superbly taken. In the second half, Notts upped the ante and got their rewards when the winner went in.
  22. Ardley might send them out looking to sneak a win, but other than being hard to break down I don't think they will throw the kitchen sink at us. Notts needs to play to the time we have and just do neat passes. We'll draw them out and create chances, they just need tucking away. I have a feeling Solihull could get hammered.
  23. Looking stronger, Cal! It will be good to have him back in the side and starting regularly.
  24. It's got a whole lot scarier since I've first posted in this, now I know people effected and lost due to it.
