  1. I don't really think it's relevant as I doubt Football Radar is financing the club anyway. I looked them up before the takeover and they always struck me as being far too small to prop up a club like Notts, let alone the others they're investing in. The brothers have been putting around 1.7 million into the club every season, effectively running Notts as a Football League club throughout the Bananarama League years. I suspect the money is actually coming from their father. But either way, being back in the Proper League and the rise in attendances will really boost the club's finances.
  2. I think they never set a rate for below the Conference because they never envisaged us dropping that low @Piethagoram. With the council involved, turfing us out would be politically toxic in those circumstances (unless we'd actually gone into liquidation or something). Either way, Bradford's experiences show that we're very lucky indeed!
  3. This sounds very good, his pedigree is obvious and there's very little risk for us. Even if he just wants to put himself in the shop window until January, we'll benefit from that. Even if he doesn't see himself staying until after January (and he didn't rule it out), he's got plenty of motivation to impress if he wants to play in a higher league again. The awkward bit is that he hasn't played a competitive match in a year, whereas we need someone who can come in and help us out right now. To be fair though, any free agent you bring in at this stage is going to be rusty. Hopefully he's fit and ready to go!
  4. That's a big chunk out of their playing budget right there. I don't think that kind of sum is unusual for clubs that rent their grounds either. It makes you realise how well off we are. If I remember rightly (this is going back to the Trust days so don't quote me), the rent we pay to the Haydn Green estate depends on the league we're in and is about 10,000 for L2. The estate would only make a profit on it if we reach the Premier League (or maybe the Championship), otherwise it simply covers what the estate pays to the council. It's an unusual arrangement but it works well for us and keeps asset strippers away.
  5. It's a bit disappointing to be honest, but with a less than exciting draw and our intense home schedule of late many saw it as an opportunity to have a weekend off.

Thanks for playing!
  7. Not the ideal draw, but we are at home and have a realistic chance of progressing. And if nothing else, it'll be interesting to see how we get on against L1 opposition (if we have any players left by then).
  8. I've just seen them, it certainly looks like a tight game that could have gone either way. Some superb attacking play, but none of our players looked good for Crawley's goals. Story of the season so far! The boys deserve massive credit for digging deep and getting the result after such a difficult week. What happens after you win an FA Cup tie then? Have we won the cup now?
  9. So he wasn't impressed with the performance?
  10. I liked him too, but the NL was probably about his level. Maybe Banbury are ambitious?
  11. We kick off tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm - who else is up for it? @allardyces tash, @AmericanPie, @Canadian, @Chris, @CliftonMagpie, @Dan, @DonnyNotts, @George L, @JIMBO, @jimbob, @Joshua, @KB1862, @KingWilliams, @liampie, @Nocturnal-Magpie, @NottsCountyKev, @OoooooTommy, @TheSkipper, @thommo, @upthepies
  12. No idea, but it might involve some Christmas shopping ahead of my next visit to the UK. I miss bonfire night, maybe I'll find something in my garden I can burn
  13. Confirmed now then. It's a huge blow as he makes the whole team tick. Hope he has a speedy recovery, he's been so reliable for us and really didn't deserve this It's good to hear that the club is looking at free agents, but realistically anyone who is still without a club in November will be seriously ring rusty and probably not ready to come in straight away. It looks like an improvised midfield against Crawley then, but hopefully Bostock will be back after that to soften the blow a bit. I echo @Chris's thoughts about the squad, we had four players competing for two spots in the team, and two are now ruled out for the season (including one who had a spotless injury record). That's just hugely unlucky and anyone would struggle in that situation. Time for the team to step up and show what they can really do!
  14. Rotherham United 2-0 Queens Park Rangers West Bromwich Albion 2-1 Hull City Alfreton Town 2-1 Worthing Doncaster Rovers 0-2 Accrington Stanley Eastleigh 3-1 Boreham Wood Exeter City 0-2 Wigan Athletic (joker) Newport County 2-1 Oldham Athletic Port Vale 1-1 Burton Albion
  15. That sounds like very bad news @Fozzy. In that case, the lack of news is probably due to uncertainty about the outcome of his operation. Hope he has a speedy recovery. Hoopefully Bostock will be back for the Crewe game at least. Apparently Crowley has also played in that position in the past. Of course we've got Jimbo, but he rarely plays for 90 minutes nowadays.
  16. Five thousand, thanks. It’s been a few years in the making, but this weekend Notts County finally play their 5,000th Football League match away to Gillingham. It will be our 888th fourth division match. We’ve spent the largest share of our Football League existence in the third division (1528 matches), with 1516 matches played in the second division (now the Championship) and 1068 in the top flight, albeit mostly before the war. We are the eighth club to reach the landmark, after Preston, Burnley, Wolves, Derby, Bolton, West Brom and Blackburn. Blackburn played their 5000th league game last month, and we could overtake them and West Brom in terms of League games if either win promotion to the Premier League. So how did things work out in our previous landmark games? Let’s have a trip back in time! 4000th game 10 January 1998: Rochdale 1-2 Notts County (Jones, Robinson); att. 2387 This was a sixth straight win on the way to winning the fourth division under Sam Allardyce, leaving us seven points clear at the top of the division. Shaun Derry started for Notts; he would leave the club a few weeks later. We were the first club to play 4000 league matches, with number 4000 originally scheduled to be played at home to Hull City and special match programmes printed. Unfortunately it was postponed, so we reached the landmark at Spotland instead. Key figures: Darren Ward, Ian Hendon, Gary Jones UK prime minister: Tony Blair (Lab) UK number one: Various Artists – Perfect Day 3000th game 25 March 1975: Notts County 2-2 Nottingham Forest (Scanlon, Richardson (OG)9; att. 20,303 We played our nearest and dearest in the second division for our 3000th. Notts, managed by Jimmy Sirrel, were comfortably in mid-table at the time and might have had a stab at promotion but for a leaky defence. The visitors were perched precariously above the relegation zone and had just appointed a new manager called Brian. We eventually finished 14th, just a couple of places and points higher than Forest. Key figures: David Needham, Bill Brindley, Ian Scanlon UK prime minister: Harold Wilson (Lab) UK number one: Bay City Rollers – Bye Bye Baby 2000th game 13 December 1952: Notts County 5-0 Blackburn Rovers (Ken McPherson (4), Edwards); att. 10,222 We celebrated our 2000th league game in style with this win in the second division. We started the game comfortably in mid-table while Blackburn were struggling, but over the course of the season Notts found wins hard to come by and eventually finished 19th, just three points clear of the relegation zone. In the early 1950s, the club’s envisaged march to the top flight had stalled, and Tommy Lawton had left the club the previous season. We had another five seasons in the second division, mostly fighting relegation, but by the end of the decade we had dropped into the fourth division for the first time. Key figures: Leon Leuty, Cecil McCormack, Tommy Deans UK prime minister: Winston Churchill (Con) UK number one: Al Martino – Here in my Heart (this was the very first UK number one!) 1000th game 25 February 1922: West Ham United 2-1 Notts County (Cook); att. 20,000 Notts started this Division Two match perched handily behind the promotion places, but following this defeat we won only one more match all season and finished in a disappointing 13th, at the time our lowest ever league position. Better times were to come though: we finished top the following season, heralding a three-year stint in the top flight. Our goalkeeper at this time was one Albert Iremonger. Key figures: Albert Iremonger, Billy Flint, Harold Hill UK prime minister: David Lloyd George (Lib) Thanks go to the brilliant Up The Maggies site; I wouldn’t have been able to work out our 1000th and 2000th games without it! 17. It would be an absolute hammer blow and we would have to revise our expectations downwards if true. I'm hoping it's just gossip and nothing more. I could imagine Cameron stepping into midfield, but that would leave us thin at the back. When is Bostock coming back?
  18. We don't usually include the FA Cup in the prediction league - however, to replace the postponed round 12, I've decided to include it this time. All the other rules are the same - kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday, remember your jokers and good luck! Rotherham United v Queens Park Rangers West Bromwich Albion v Hull City Alfreton Town v Worthing Doncaster Rovers v Accrington Stanley Eastleigh v Boreham Wood Exeter City v Wigan Athletic Newport County v Oldham Athletic Port Vale v Burton Albion
  19. There have been some interesting goings-on in the Bundesliga recently. Harry Kane has got off to a fantastic start at Bayern and is in double figures already. They played Darmstadt at the weekend and won 8-0 despite it being goalless at half time (Bayern had a man sent off in the fourth minute, but by the end of the first half Darmstadt had managed to get two of their players sent off). Darmstadt are mardy because Bayern's fifth may have been a handball. Elsewhere, Leverkusen have looked the real deal so far, while Union Berlin have lost ten competitive games in a row - luckily they won their first two.
  20. Harry Kewell was Crawley manager before he joined us. I think our then owner even paid money to them for the pleasure, despite Kewell's record there being somewhat less than glittering.
  21. Owning a Serie A club would be a huge undertaking, so I hope nothing like that happens. That said, they seem to largely leave the running of the club to other people. When they first took over, I wasn't sure where the money was coming from as Football Radar isn't such a big company. But apparently their dad's a billionaire. They're clearly not short of a bob or two.
  22. Oh dear, it seems that someone is losing interest. It's his job to make sure the sums add up, the fans already contribute plenty.
  23. If if weren't for a stoppage time Peterborough goal, she'd have landed full points for her joker too. It's just showboating at this point.

To put that into context, he got 243 points in the whole of last season! I might have to accidentally add a zero to my points total if I'm to catch up... So the next round will be on Saturday - keep your eyes out for the fixtures on Wednesday! Thanks for playing and take care
  25. That is so cool @Piethagoram! They are genuinely crackers. If you're reading, reveal yourselves ???? I went to the Netherlands for the first time this year, loved it. When I was there I found a magical black and white striped shell that I took home with me, which was the sole reason we won promotion.
