  1. No need to worry, it's a game so feel free to play (or not play) whenever you like! Fingers are no longer the punishment for missing a round - now it's your pets and, for repeat offenders, your house.
  2. You've got until 3pm on Saturday (today!) to get your predictions in. Go on, have a go! @allardyces tash, @JIMBO, @thommo, @NottsCountyKev, @AmericanPie, @KingWilliams, @OoooooTommy, @Nocturnal-Magpie, @George L
  3. I think it's next week. Apparently LW is expecting one or two players to come and go. A bit more competition at the back would be handy, a CB with the physical presence of Mark Ellis and the football brain of Mike Edwards would be ideal! And a defensive CM for when we're really under pressure as we're very lacking there. Otherwise I think we're good to go. The departures will probably be loan moves, such as Mahovo to Long Eaton.
  4. You're thinking of Salzburg, who were already a top-flight club when the fizzy drinks company turned up, changed the name and colours and attempted to delete its history. In Leipzig they took over an amateur club's league position and drove a coach and horses through league rules in a country where a company cannot "own" a club outright. Shame on the authorities for letting it happen. I'd rather Bayern won the next 50 Bundesliga titles than Red Bull's marketing gimmick get near to it once. This looks like another Salzburg in the making. A huge shame for that club's loyal supporters.
  5. Coventry City 1-1 Sunderland Millwall 2-0 Stoke City Exeter City 2-1 Reading Lincoln City 0-1 Blackpool Bradford City 2-1 Crewe Alexandra Walsall 2-2 Grimsby Town Boreham Wood 2-0 Oldham Athletic (joker) Ebbsfleet United 2-1 Kidderminster Harriers
  6. Awful news. League position is almost irrelevant to them now, they've got one more chance to pay before the lights go out. I hope a buyer emerges from somewhere. Ron Martin is willing to sell the club for a pound, the sticking point is that he owns the stadium and training ground as well and wants a lot of money for them.
  7. You probably know what to do by now - predict the following fixtures by 3pm on Saturday and nominate one joker. Good luck! Coventry City v Sunderland Millwall v Stoke City Exeter City v Reading Lincoln City v Blackpool Bradford City v Crewe Alexandra Walsall v Grimsby Town Boreham Wood v Oldham Athletic Ebbsfleet United v Kidderminster Harriers
  8. The idea behind threatening docking points in cases like this is to prevent it happening in the first place. In a lot of cases where players aren't paid on time, it's not because of a lack of money - it's because the owner doesn't give a stuff any more.
  9. @Joshua, it means that the punishment will only apply if it happens again by the given date. Presumably they are paying their players now, otherwise they wouldn't have started the season. Morecambe is another club with bad owners unfortunately.
  10. Microsoft Excel decides who is higher up. The player who was further down the week before generally appears on top. That's slightly odd, but who are we to argue? What went down can also come up. Unless you're Chesterfield.
  11. You'd better get studying, because the jaws of the Vanarama Prediction League Conference 2 are open wide!
  12. Long before my time, but I love a good team photo! Barry Watling is either a midget or is not standing on the bench like the others. Wonder what the story behind that was.
  13. The results: Queens Park Rangers 0-1 Ipswich Town Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Preston North End Cambridge United 2-0 Bristol Rovers Carlisle United 0-2 Exeter City Grimsby Town 1-1 Mansfield Town Sutton United 0-3 AFC Wimbledon Rochdale 2-0 Eastleigh Wealdstone 3-2 AFC Fylde --- This round's winner is @william1984, but several of you were also within touching distance of double figures this week! @william1984 - 12 @Joshua - 9 @allardyces tash, @nottsnutter, @super_ram - 8 @4everapie, @gtownjohnno, @Megan_Elizax - 7 @ARLukomski, @JIMBO, @liampie, @magpiejue, @upthepies - 6 @CliftonMagpie, @KingWilliams, @NottsCountyKev - 5 @Chris, @DangerousSausage, @DonnyNotts, @Fan of Big Tone, @OoooooTommy, @TheSkipper - 4 @Dan, @thommo - 3 @AmericanPie - 2 @cheeky~k8 - nul points --- In this week's table, @Joshua returns to the top, while @william1984 makes a huge leap up the table: Joshua - 26 magpiejue - 23 nottsnutter - 22 ARLukomski - 22 cheeky~k8 - 22 allardyces tash - 20 4everapie - 20 liampie - 20 TheSkipper - 19 super_ram - 18 gtownjohnno - 18 Megan_Elizax - 18 DonnyNotts - 18 Fan of Big Tone - 18 william1984 - 17 JIMBO - 17 thommo - 17 upthepies - 16 NottsCountyKev - 16 DangerousSausage - 16 CliftonMagpie - 15 AmericanPie - 15 KingWilliams - 14 OoooooTommy - 14 jimbob - 13 Dan - 13 KB1862 - 12 Chris - 12 Nocturnal-Magpie - 10 George L - 6 --- The next round is coming up on Saturday, so expect the prediction league fairy to post them on Wednesday. Cheers and see you all then!
  14. I do as well. I've always mixed him up with Gavin McCann, who definitely didn't play for us (and who I thought was Doncaster's manager).
  15. Here's your reminder: kick-off is Saturday at 3pm. Be there, or be somewhere else! @Joshua, @DonnyNotts, @jimbob, @KB1862, @JIMBO, @NottsCountyKev, @Nocturnal-Magpie, @OoooooTommy, @George L
  16. Gary Jones (the striker) is from Doncaster and played for Rovers as a youngster. And as Chris says there's Johnny Bostock, who will score the winner tomorrow after getting dog's abuse for 90 minutes. Fun fact: Donny used to have a fanzine called Keegan Was Crap Really.
  17. Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Ipswich Town Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Preston North End Cambridge United 1-2 Bristol Rovers Carlisle United 0-0 Exeter City Grimsby Town 1-1 Mansfield Town Sutton United 1-1 AFC Wimbledon Rochdale 0-2 Eastleigh (joker) Wealdstone 1-2 AFC Fylde
  18. It's a bit different to both. Unlike the FA Cup, you can't just apply to take part - only Bundesliga 1 and 2 and the top four of the third division have an automatic right to take part. The other participants have to qualify by winning the cup competitions of their regional FA, so you can get pretty big clubs like 1860 Munich and Dynamo Dresden traipsing around village clubs to earn the right to play in the following season's German Cup. But if you do, the seeded draw means you play a team from Bundesliga 1 or 2 at home, so it's a big payday and the Bundesliga clubs take it seriously too.
  19. The results: Barnsley 1-3 Peterborough United Northampton Town 2-2 Lincoln City Shrewsbury Town 2-1 Burton Albion Colchester United 0-2 AFC Wimbledon Crewe Alexandra 4-2 Newport County Stockport County 1-1 Bradford City Eastleigh 3-3 Barnet Woking 3-2 Rochdale --- In a bold move into the 20th century, I calculated this week's scores using a fancy Excel spreadsheet, thereby bringing Bill Gates a big step closer to world domination. I did a spot check and it actually works. If any errors have crept in, blame Bill Gates (and let me know about it). Anyway, this round's winner with eight points is @jimbob! @jimbob - 8 @allardyces tash, @Fan of Big Tone, @gtownjohnno, @magpiejue - 7 @DangerousSausage, @TheSkipper - 6 @Dan, @Megan_Elizax, @Nocturnal-Magpie, @nottsnutter, @thommo - 4 @4everapie, @ARLukomski, @cheeky~k8, @Chris, @JIMBO, @KB1862, @KingWilliams, @liampie, @william1984 - 3 @AmericanPie, @CliftonMagpie, @DonnyNotts, @NottsCountyKev, @super_ram, @upthepies - 2 @Joshua, @OoooooTommy - 1 --- @cheeky~k8 still leads the way, but is there any stopping the @Fan of Big Tone juggernaut? Elsewhere, I have been upgraded to mid-table mediocrity. cheeky~k8 - 22 magpiejue - 17 Joshua - 17 ARLukomski - 16 TheSkipper - 15 Fan of Big Tone - 14 nottsnutter - 14 thommo - 14 liampie - 14 DonnyNotts - 14 jimbob - 13 4everapie - 13 AmericanPie - 13 allardyces tash - 12 DangerousSausage - 12 KB1862 - 12 gtownjohnno - 11 Megan_Elizax - 11 JIMBO - 11 NottsCountyKev - 11 Dan - 10 Nocturnal-Magpie - 10 CliftonMagpie - 10 super_ram - 10 upthepies - 10 OoooooTommy - 10 KingWilliams - 9 Chris - 8 George L - 6 william1984 - 5 --- Was that not enough for you? The goods news is that the next round is on Saturday, and the fixtures are already online! See you there!
  20. It feels like the season only started yesterday, yet we're already onto round four. These ones kick off at 3pm on Saturday - good luck and remember your jokers! Queens Park Rangers v Ipswich Town Sheffield Wednesday v Preston North End Cambridge United v Bristol Rovers Carlisle United v Exeter City Grimsby Town v Mansfield Town Sutton United v AFC Wimbledon Rochdale v Eastleigh Wealdstone v AFC Fylde
  21. No, it was the Super Cup, which is contested between the Bundesliga winners and the German Cup winners. So it's basically like the Charity Shield. Personally I think he'll be fine, he'll get a luxury service at Bayern and will definitely score his goals. The difficulty there tends to be that expectations are so high that nothing less than winning a league and cup double plus the Champions League will do. Managers there have been given their marching orders for "only" winning the Bundesliga. I spoke too soon - fourth division Homburg beat Darmstadt 3-0 on Monday night!
  22. I didn't take part as my laptop screen was occupied with iFollow. Hopefully next time though!
  23. Apparently more than 2,000 away tickets have already been sold so it'll be a belting atmosphere. I'd expect Doncaster to be a bit more ambitious than Morecambe were. They've had a bad start but got a draw against Mansfield, so that's a sign of life. Wanted: an early Notts goal to calm the nerves, then we'll be swinging.
  24. In the UK I think they stream all league matches that fall outside of the Saturday 3pm blackout. Maybe this includes Friday and Sunday games as well? It never even occurred to me to use the browser on my TV, I'll try it out next time. Thanks! It's still a lot less user-friendly than Chromecast though
  25. Since we'd shipped 9 goals in our previous 3 games, it was understandable that the focus was on defence. So a clean sheet is a plus. All the same, it feels like two points dropped. We spent the first half playing at walking pace and looked reluctant to take men on, it was reminiscent of Ardleyball. If we'd been a little more positive then, I think we'd have swung it in our favour. We looked a lot brighter at the start of the second half, but the substitutions stopped our momentum and we never regained it. That's a pity as Morecambe were there for the taking. They were well organised off the ball, but very poor on it and the greatest threat to our goal came from unforced errors by Baldwin and Cameron. I think the promotion celebrations must have killed a few of Baldwin's brain cells as his decision making was awful. Despite some of the justified criticism of a few players, they haven't become bad players overnight. They're still getting to grips with a new division and a few changes in the team. The calls to replace half the team I keep seeing on certain social media platforms are ridiculous.
