  1. It's been such a fun time, but I don't think we can top that Doyle clip!
  2. Best Signing: Jones Highest Goal Scorer: Langstaff Most Improved Player of the Season: This one is tricky as they were all so good last season. I reckon Scott could give the manager a real selection headache up top. Most Starts in the Season: Palmer Best partnership between two players: Palmer and Bostock
  3. This reminds me a bit of Munto, when our takeover was sanctioned without the authorities actually knowing who was behind it. Have they learned nothing? As for a punishment, that's a tough one. Conway and Lee are no longer on the board there, and any points deduction wouldn't affect them. If the club hasn't gained an unfair sporting advantage, the punishment should be aimed squarely at the directors - they shouldn't be allowed to be involved in English football again.
  4. Was going to get the away shirt, but I left it a week and it was already gone! This was probably because the home shirts aren't on sale yet so there's more demand for the away shirt, but it's still disappointing. Hopefully they'll be in stock in November, otherwise I'll go without.
  5. That Champions League final is a really good shout. Our playoff campaign was amazing for us, but we were playing against National League players who are prone to freezing and making mistakes when it counts. In Istanbul you had some of the best players in the world at the top of their game, playing in possibly the biggest game of their career. They had absolutely outclassed Liverpool in the first half. That made the rest of it even crazier. I also bring you Sheffield Wednesday's recovery from 4-0 down to reach the playoff final last season!
  6. Hello, how often do you get to get your hands on an actual trophy that Notts have won? Get yourselves down there!
  7. I wasn't there on Saturday, but I've heard it before and I totally agree. As well as being counterproductive, it's kind of ridiculous early in pre-season when players are trying to get match fit. I have a bad feeling it won't be the last you hear of it if we don't start well. Here's a reality check: Stoke City finished 58 league places above us last season. We might have made it a bit too easy for them, but not everyone is going to shine in a game like that. The newbies and youngsters in particular need time to bed in. We'd all like to see the team in or around the top seven next season, but there is no guarantee that will happen. We might have to make tactical adjustments, there may well be the odd player who struggles in League Two. Maybe we'll be in for a shock and start badly. If that happens, people need to get behind the team and show their support, because these players and this head coach deserve it, and they will deliver if we give them the chance!
  8. Thanks for all the responses, this is a good read! And a bad one at the same time... My completely worthless thoughts: Our entire game is based around being on the front foot and in control. So it's maybe not a surprise we got a kicking, especially when you consider our experimential back line. Speaking of experimental back lines, it's a shame we couldn't use this game as a dress rehearsal, but it's too early in pre season for that. Shame really. There's no way we'll play like that in the league. It's disappointing we gave them so many gifts at the back, we wouldn't have got away with that in the NL either. But here's the reality check: we've just been promoted back to the Football League, Stoke are gunning for the Premier League. However frustrating and disappointing it feels, LW will have learned a lot more yesterday than he wound have if we'd spent the day whipping a Northern Premier League team 7-0.
  9. I would drink Carling, but I usually find it cheaper and more pleasant to drink my own wee instead.
  10. This is astonishing. I don't understand how anyone can expect us to shift more, this is surely beyond all expectations. For context, in our last season in League One, our average crowd was 5300. That's the whole crowd, including away fans. The two previous seasons we had 5500. We were relieved when the gates for midweek matches had a 4 in front of them. Now we could be heading for our best attendances in 30 years.
  11. I missed this. That's probably because I don't pay much attention to obscure non-League clubs in Derbyshire. No need, Scunny have already helped them out ????
  12. This is sensible. Programmes have been getting bigger and more expensive for years, but who needs a 60-page bible for the half time break? A cheaper programme with about half the pages is the way to go. It'll probably be a stay of execution anyway. With so much information and so many opinions available instantly online, the match programme has probably had its day. I've experienced combined match programmes for two games in Germany. It's all fun and games till you buy the same one twice ????
  13. I like them both. I like the modern take on the stripes on the home shirt, but the sponsor is a bit overpowering and I really dislike the back of the shirt. I understand they need to leave space for the number, but surely we could then just have stripes on the front, or something a bit more elegant than a giant white area with chopped off bits of stripes round the edges. Surely they could have come up with something better than that. The away shirt is a bit plain, but it's in a decent colour for one and I think I'll be having one! On a related note, I wish we could have a bolder, simplified version of the badge with just the magpies and the football for the shirt. They're just too small with our current badge.
  14. It won't match the freak season we've just experienced, but I expect Chesterfield to challenge at least. It would be good to see Oldham sort themselves out, and I fancy Boreham Wood to make a more serious challenge. I could also see Hartlepool in and around the playoffs, their manager has won the NL before. After that I really don't know - maybe someone like Altrincham?
  15. Stockport and Gillingham are ambitious, and Bradford and Mansfield will be there or thereabouts too. Wrexham are absolutely nailed on for the top seven at least. There might be more promotion spots, but the league seems quite a bit more competitive than it was when we left it. I'm less sure about the teams coming down. The franchise have money but haven't made any eye-catching signings yet, and Accrington still have their long-serving manager who will hopefully steady the ship.
  16. Fitting. Wordle 745 5/6 ????⬛⬛⬛???? ⬛⬛???????????? ⬛????????⬛???? ⬛???????????????? ????????????????????
  17. I'd expect a different 11 in both halves to get as many players match fit as possible. It'll be interesting to see how the new signings do and where they play, but we won't be able to draw any conclusions from it. Wonder whether there'll be any trialists? I've been to Nuneaton's old place, a proper old-school rickety ground. Would have been fun to see Notts play there.
  18. Nailed it today! Wordle 744 2/6 ⬛????????⬛???? ????????????????????
  19. I'm not on Twitter as people only seem to use it to argue. But what a useless blowhard Elon Musk is. Imagine spending billions on a company before setting out to destroy it.
  20. Cracking pictures @Piethagoram! I went to Rüdesheim last year but only saw the monument from afar as I didn't fancy going on the shonky cable car. Where are you heading next? If you're heading up the Rhine, the area between Rüdesheim and Bonn is really picturesque with more castles than you can shake a stick at.
  21. I got it, but it was a head scratcher. Wordle 743 5/6 ⬛⬛????⬛⬛ ⬛????⬛????⬛ ⬛????⬛???????? ⬛???????????????? ????????????????????
  22. But you just did, so.....
  23. It's the close season @allardyces tash, people are looking for things to talk or get outraged about. I thought last season's shirts left a lot to desire, so I didn't buy one. But then the actual football starts and you move on. These people will too. I draw the line at white shorts though. We've worn them for three seasons since we switched to black and white. We got relegated twice, and the other season was our worst league finish to date. Nope.
  24. It just seems a bit unnecessary @allardyces tash, we play in black and white and sponsors with bright colours cheapen the look of the shirt. A red sponsor and a gold trim would just look a bit naff in my opinion. I've just seen a mock-up with the sponsor's text in white on a black rectangle, it's very visible yet it blends in with the shirt very well. I'm hoping it'll be something like that, with the red text restricted to the back of the shirt.
  25. Other clubs are already selling their new Puma kits, so i doubtit's all due to them. Perhaps we put our order in later due to uncertainty around the sponsor? I'd have liked something new, but I doubt the delivery times would have been any different.
