  5. Following the failure of Chesterfield's crowdfunded pitch covers to keep the game on, this one's been rearranged for 11 February, which is at least a Saturday. Let us be grateful for small mercies.
  6. I'm sure he did. Was Harry Redknapp's dog the tenant?

  9. I've had better ones to be honest. I came over for Christmas for the first time in a few years, so I had a bit of stress buying presents only for my suitcase to vanish. It took three weeks to get it back. I know it's only stuff, but it constantly bugs you in the back of your mind. On the plus side, it was an excuse to get my mid-90s Notts shirts out again
  10. I avoid banter pages like the plague @Chris, if it were limited to them it'd be easier to ignore. It's grating but I suppose it'll pass eventually.
  11. The results: Bristol City 4-2 Birmingham City Cardiff City 1-1 Wigan Athletic Cambridge United P-P Morecambe Fleetwood Town 1-2 Oxford United Ipswich Town 1-1 Plymouth Argyle Gillingham 2-0 Hartlepool United Rochdale 1-2 Colchester United Tranmere Rovers 1-1 Walsall --- Several of you got your jokers right, including our top scorer @DonnyNotts! @DonnyNotts - 11 @nottsnutter - 10 @jimbob - 8 @barnet11uk - 7 @Dan, @magpiejue, @super_ram, @4everapie, @DangerousSausage, @GrannyPie - 4 @ARLukomski - 3 @Dripsey3, @gtownjohnno - 2 @Megan_Elizax - 1 --- It remains maddeningly close. @barnet11uk moves level with @ARLukomski in joint second: Dripsey3 - 139 barnet1uk - 133 ARLukomski - 133 gtownjohnno - 123 Dan - 121 magpiejue -119 super_ram - 113 4everapie - 110 DangerousSausage - 109 GrannyPie - 108 DonnyNotts - 107 nottsnutter - 99 Megan_Elizax - 97 jimbob - 86 Chris - 72 KB1862 - 21 steve61 - 7 liampie - 6 --- So that's yer lot, the next round is on Saturday and will be posted in midweek. This thread will remain open for gloating / hilarious banter, otherwise, have a good week and I'll see you then!
  12. I never had anything against Wrexham at all. They've been in the Conference for 15 years now, so surely they've done their time. It's a proper club with a good and loyal fanbase and the Football League is better with them in it. I don't even mind their owners - they're not in it for sportswashing, or to get their faces in the local rag more often, or to make some quick cash by flogging the ground - they're doing it for fun. BUT I'm sick and tired of the antics of some of their fans online. Even posts about Meadow Lane, which are nothing to do with their club at all. are brigaded by arrogant, condescending Wrexham fans telling us how much bigger they are. It's just exhausting. I know the brief Munto phase brought the worst out of some Notts fans in 2009-10, but were they really THAT bad? Or should I just spend less time online?
  13. Better to be playing in the National League than warming the bench in League Two. He's more likely to get game time at League level once he's proven himself in the Bananarama League, and if he can do it by helping us out against our rivals, all the better
  14. Bristol City 1-0 Birmingham City Cardiff City 2-0 Wigan Athletic (joker) Cambridge United 1-2 Morecambe Fleetwood Town 1-1 Oxford United Ipswich Town 2-1 Plymouth Argyle Gillingham 0-2 Hartlepool United Rochdale 1-1 Colchester United Tranmere Rovers 1-1 Walsall
  15. Here we are again then - if you want to have a go, send in your prediction by 3pm on Saturday and remember your joker! Bristol City v Birmingham City Cardiff City v Wigan Athletic Cambridge United v Morecambe Fleetwood Town v Oxford United Ipswich Town v Plymouth Argyle Gillingham v Hartlepool United Rochdale v Colchester United Tranmere Rovers v Walsall
  16. We seem to be lacking a match thread for this (blame all the rearranged fixtures), so I've made one. Really disappointed with last night's result. We had lots of possession, but it was all too slow, ponderous and predictable. We also had some really dodgy moments passing it around the back (Baldwin played himself into trouble more than once), so the visitors' lead was no surprise. We looked a different side after the break, but quickly reverted to type after equalising. We didn't do enough to win against a hard-working but average team. Looks like we've firmly handed the initiative back to Wrexham, if not (yet) top spot.
  17. Agree with @Dripsey3, this fixture is always a banana skin. I can't say much about the game as we were already 2-0 up and cruising when I started watching the stream. There was an anxious moment when Slocombe dwelled on the ball a little too long, and a nice opportunistic goal from Nemane, but apart from that I haven't got much to say. Good job, onto the next one!
  18. We were originally playing Boreham Wood on Saturday, but since they've got a glamour tie in the FA Cup we're visiting Aldershot instead. So I decided to (oh ho!) call the shots on this one and edit it. Not a happy hunting ground for us, I remember Aldershot beating us to stay up one season. Hopefully we're made of sterner stuff this time, and it's crucial to get back to winning ways after needlessly dropping points at Oldham. A clear away win and a clean sheet would do us a world of good.
  19. Very frustrating that we're still handing out presents now that Christmas is done. I think Slocombe was mainly at fault for the first goal, he rushed out to clear the danger after Oldham attempted a fast break, but instead of putting it out of play he scudded a fast pass to Bajrami(?), who was being closed down rapidly and was dispossessed before he knew what was happening. The penalty looked a really clumsy challenge, but it was hard to tell whether Cameron brought down his opposite number, or whether the Oldham man went down and dragged him down with him. Very annoying as the cross was overhit and there was no genuine danger. We were lucky not to lose at the death though. But in spite of all our possession, we never really had the game under control and Oldham worked hard for their point. It definitely feels like two points lost given the fact that we were leading twice.
  20. I'll second that. Oldham are getting good crowds nowadays, and a loud and boisterous crowd could make this a different experience to most NL away days. All the same, we need to keep winning.
  21. Great result, and good to see us putting the match to bed early on. Is there any news about Langstaff? I take it this game came a little too soon for him. We've got plenty of goals elsewhere though - Scott is also on target for 20 goals for the season...
  22. According to the club, the injuries to Langstaff and Chicksen aren't serious and they'll be back in action sooner rather than later. A big relief. Thanks for nothing referee. As for the game, chances were few and far between in the first half despite dominating the possession, but the goal came just at the right time. Things opened up in the second half, and overall it was a comfortable win. Our next match is on Tuesday, with Wrexham playing their fixture on Wednesday. That gives us the chance to go seven points clear and pile the pressure on Wrexham.
  23. Crikey, I've heard of this one. He's certainly got the pedigree, hope he's still got what it takes. A bit more strength in depth during the run-in is a good idea, but I wouldn't want us to change a winning formula. It probably also doesn't do Ed Francis' chances of making the first 11 any good at all.
  24. Top of the league, and one more win till we're safe from relegation but seriously, we could quite easily have ended up like Scunny after going down. They've got it all on to stay up.
