  3. @Fan of Big Tone yes, that was the one. At the time I was living in Eastleigh & traveled to work in Winchester. Most of the damage was caused overnight & people were told not to travel to work as lots of roads were blocked by fallen trees on that Friday morning. So it turned into a long weekend It was still bad driving to work the following Monday morning. Lots of trees down. Never saw anything like it before or since. Although the authorities didn't call it a Hurricane everyone was saying it was.
  4. @Fan of Big Tone They've named storm Amy from the remnants of Hurricane Humberto which has turned turtle & come back across the Atlantic. The Weather people always say we can't have a Hurricanes as far from the tropics as the UK is, but we can get ex hurricanes or extra tropical cyclones that hey now call named storms. I was working in the South in 1987 & experienced hurricane-force winds during the Great Storm of October 15/16, 1987 when the UK was hit by 115 mph winds taking down tens of thousands of trees.
  5. I do believe that set pieces are a very important part of football & it is very important that Clubs should work on the training ground to make them more effective as a way of scoring goals. However, Clubs should work to ensure that set pieces are much more less effective against their own defence. We have seen Notts fail to deal with set pieces especially corners which has proved very costly over the last few seasons. I can remember Wimbledon at their crazy gang best used to be very effective at set piece situations. I'm not surprised that it is being looked at as a tactic that is growing in popularity once again, as an effective way of winning football matches.
  6. I don't think anyone will be surprised when I say that I don't agree with him. What is an elite Club, a club with loads of available money from a very rich owner or a Club that has a rich history of success over the long history of Association Football in this Country? For me, Owners like those who have taken over clubs during the last 20 years are taking football in the wrong direction. Those owners that want their "Elite Clubs" protected at all costs, want "their own" interests protected at all costs. Football is going in the wrong direction & I do hope that there will be more football regulation out in place to curb the power of the self appointed "Elite Clubs" & bring back real fairness to the whole football pyramid again.
  7. Jack has made 19 appearances for Notts & when he's played for Notts he played steady without being spectacular. But he hasn't done a lot wrong either. To be honest I'm surprised that he has been sent on loan because if either Palmer or Robertson get injured Hinchy would be close to selection. I do hope he can get some game time at Altrincham, but I would have preferred he had gone to a league 2 club because his standard is higher than the National League in my opinion.

  14. The Club just need to do their talking on the field like they did against Barnsley. If they keep talking like that we know the Club will be on the right track.

  16. I will give credit where credit is due. It was a great team performance against Barnsley. The performance demonstrated that the squad as a whole is improving under the guidance of Head Coach Martin Paterson. Martin Paterson is going to have a selection headache but I believe that is a good thing. The positives from last night were some very good performances from players who haven't had a regular spot in the starting eleven, & from players who haven't featured at all. Will Jarvis came on in the 2nd half & basically changed the game in Notts favour with the help of Nick Tsaroulla. Jaden Luker & Tyrese Hall were also a revelation last night & both demonstrated that they are both worth an opportunity in the starting eleven, so did Keanan Bennetts. Harry Griffiths played between the sticks and didn't do anything wrong, & was only beaten by great finishing from the Barnsley striker. Lucas Ness played a full game in defence & slotted in next to Macari & Bedeau & all three played well as a unit which gives Martin more options. Academy player Harrison Iwunze came on for Jatta & looked very lively & was very unfortunate to have a goal disallowed. Martin Paterson was looking for commitment, hard work, & an ability to take an opportunity when given & all of those players looking to impress did so. No wonder Paterson was pleased at his post match presser.
  17. The one & only Lee Hughes who played for Oldham 2007/9 & scored 25 goals & Notts, 2009/13 & scored 59 goals. He scored 30 goals in our promotion season. He scored 347 goals in a career that included 782 appearances.
