Quirky 60s & 70s TV Series
@Robbie Ok this is getting Silly, I reckon between us we're going to end up naming every TV program of the 60 & 70's.????. But as you insist here are a few more. Robin's Nest Never the Twain The Flashing Blade, the Adventures of Black Beauty, maybe I shouldn't say this but it was a big part of Saturday TV Jim'll Fix It. Folly Foot Farm, Worzel Gummidge then there were the sports programs BBC had Grandstand, while ITV had World of Sport. In 1979 David Attenborough's first Wildlife Blockbuster Life on Earth was shown. Speaking of Wildlife. Do you remember dear old Johnny Morris who made the animals talk on Animal Magic? Johnny also told us about Tales of the Riverbank. Then we had Desmond Morris who presented Zoo Time, he also wrote the best selling book The Naked Ape. Going back to Comedy Please Sir and it's not so successful spin off The Fen Street Gang. Then there was Minder, The Sweeney, Dixon of Dock Green. Z Cars Up Stairs Down Stairs where Gordon Jackson played Hudson the Butler. Gordon Jackson also had a starring role in the Professionals. Wendy Craig in Butterflies, Mother makes 3 and Mother Makes 5. The first in depth TV Series about World War II, All Our Yesterdays. Right that's it (for the moment) after all this typing I'm going for a lie down.

Stuart Maynard; Is He Winning Over His Doubters?
@Robbie Didzy as started this season well and as produced some fine performances plus goals. Yesterday Jatta produced a Super Sub performance. The only real worry about the guys up front, is the form of Cedwyn Scott, I'm not sure if he's fully over his injury of last season and he also suffered a knock, in a previous game. I also think SM is playing him out of position, he's given Ceds the number 9 shirt but is playing him deeper, not in the traditional number 9 position. Hopefully young Mister Bass has learned his lesson, boot the ball up field don't fanny about with it, in Dangerous Areas. I'm still concerned about every Notts player being brought back to defend corners, I think with all those bodies in the box players, tend to get in each others way. The Gillingham game as you say will be a Massive Test for the Magpies, but being on Home Turf should give the team an advantage.

Quirky 60s & 70s TV Series
Here are a few others @Robbie. Skippy the Bush Kangaroo who just by making tck tck tck noise could get his message across. What's that Skip? Sonny's fell down into a gully and broke his leg? Two American shows from the 60's Cannonball the story about two Truck Drivers then the Whirly Birds a series about Helicopter Pilots. Then there was the Flying Doctor which I believe was one of the first programs from Australia. Star Trek the Original Series. Captain Kirk, Spock and Doctor 'Bones' McCoy . Then there was Britain's own Doctor Who. Ruby Flipper didn't last very long after Pan's People disbanded. The Next best Girl Dance Group was Hot Gossip who featured on the Kenny Everret Show, but I think that was the 1980's. Yes I remember Flipper Lassie Champion the Wonder Horse, there was all a series about a Black Stallion called Fury, and Circus Boy starring Mickey Dolenze, who later found fame with the Monkees Pop Group. Casey Jones the Locomotive Driver of the Cannonball Express. Then there was the Sooty Show and Basil Boom Boom Brush and speaking of Basils Fawlty Towers. ( I think that started in the 1970's ?). All these TV Series and rewatching some of them now, you say to yourself Did I really watch this Rubbish? Yes you did because there was nothing else on just BBC 1 & 2 and ITV just Three Channels.

Stuart Maynard; Is He Winning Over His Doubters?
I'll be Honest I was very doubtful about Stuart Maynard's appointment ( but I never wanted him to fail) I didn't think he was capable of making the step up from the National League to League 2, one of the main worries I had was he was only a Part Time Manager and a full time BT Engineer. But Kudos to the Guy, he came in when Notts were due to face the front runners in League 2 and was trying to fill the shoes of one of the most Popular Notts Manager/Head Coaches in recent years, plus the Recruitment team Failed in bringing in any Top Class Defenders in the January Transfer Window. But despite all the Flack he received he stuck at his job and with him and his staff having a full preseason he's managing to Mold the Magpies Squad into a Team that's not worried about changing things around. There will of course be Bigger Challengers coming up for Notts and how SM's Team performs against teams ear marked for Promotion this Season, will give a Clear indication of how the Club, will fare in 2024/2025. He's made an excellent Start so far. One of his biggest challengers this term will be, how he copes and Lifts the Squad after a defeat, I think that will give the Fans a True indication of how well he will do at the Lane.

Quirky 60s & 70s TV Series
@Robbie There's one or two on your list I enjoyed but had forgotten about. There is one show I didn't list and how the Hell I forgot about it, was of course Monty Python's Flying Circus. I must be a Gumby. I also enjoyed Spike Milligan's 'Q' Series and the Benny Hill Show. Do you remember Pan's People on Top of the Pops? Porridge was another favorite and Colditz TV Series. There was also a Children's Show on ITV which was supposed to rival Blue Peter. It's name Magpie. Then of course one of the Best if Not the Best Kids Prog, Drum Roll TISWAS. With Chris Tarrant Sally James Bob Carolgees and Spit the Dog plus Lenny Henry (when he was funny) and who can forget the appearances of Frank Carson on that Show ? Brilliant.

Quirky 60s & 70s TV Series
@Robbie I didn't know he had made a comeback in Corrie in the1990's by that time, I no longer watched the program. Regarding the subject of your Topic from the 60's there was Gary & Sylvia Anderson's puppet series, Thunderbirds, Fireball XL 5 and Captain Scarlet. Tinker & Tucker with Aunty Jeanie Morton. Then there was the Champions, featuring the beautiful Alexandra Bastedo. The Golden Shot with Bob Monkhouse, Till Death Do Us Part. Into the 70's and Comedy was my main T.V enjoyment. Dad's Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Love Thy Neighbour, Man About The House and it's spin off George & Mildred, Are You Being Served Bull's Eye hosted by Jim Super Smashing Great Bowen, the Comedians the Two Ronnie's and who can ever forget the Eric & Ernie Christmas Shows? There's bound to be more I've forgotten about, but this is all that comes to my mind at the moment.

Match Discussion: Game 6 - The Ravens (A)
Reading the updates of the match it would seem early on that Notts had slipped back into their ways of the latter half of last season, letting in two very Sloppy goals. However to come back to win by two clear goals after being those two goals down, shows the Grit Determination Fighting Spirit and Class of players Notts have in their squad. It's been a Good start to the Season for the Magpies, lets keep it up Guys. It is after all a Marathon and Not a Sprint, till the end of the Season. Winning Breeds Winners and that Attitude is in full flow at the Lane there are going to be many ups and downs, highs and lows as the season progresses keep the Faith and Believing and the Magpies should be in for a Good Season. Lets hope so. C.O.Y.P.

Darth Vader's Voice Silenced
Very Sad News that's come out from Hollywood, Actor James Earl Jones as Passed Away. The Actor with perhaps the Most Iconic and recognizable voice died four days ago. Paid very little for his voice work in the first Star Wars Film and not acknowledged in the films credits, James' voice became forever associated with Sci Fi 's most Famous and Greatest Villain of all time. I saw James in many different roles over the years, in the first Conan film the TV series Roots and a couple of guest spots in American sit coms Frasier and The Big Bang Theory to name just a few. I believe both James's parents were deaf and he didn't learn to speak until he was 5 years old (I stand to be corrected). R.I.P Lord Vader. Now As One With The Force.

Tell Us a Tale
Reading this topic over my shoulder the Wife pointed out, What about the time we bumped into Dennis Lille the actor who played Cassandra's Dad in Only Fools And Horses. in a carpark in Windsor. That was something Id forgotten about. And even more embarrassing I didn't even know the guys name. I kept referring to him as Casandra's Dad. But he was a perfect Gentleman and waited until the Wife had searched in her handbag, for a scrap of paper and a pen for him to give us his Autograph.

On This Day In History.
I remember my eldest son when he was a little fella the Wife me and him had come down to the Lane for an open day, and my Son had his photo taken with the Don. He's still got that photo and I remember him telling his Grandad and uncle ( both Massive Magpie Fans) how his Mum had took a photo of him and Don Masson, even though he'd never seen Don play (he'd been retired a long time) he told them he was a Great Player and a very Nice Man.

Back From The Dead
@Chris To be honest my friend when I was gone it just felt like I was asleep I felt incredibly happy, euphoric, there was No pain just a feeling of utter contentment. I didn't see anyone one of my family who had passed telling me to go back, nor did I feel I was floating looking down on my physical body, or anything which people who have the experience of dieing and then coming back. There was a Bright white light but that was probably the large lights reflecting on white ceiling of the cubicle I was in, because my Son told me I had my eyes open. What I don't remember is what the CPR Team did for me, if they got the paddles out or if they thumped me on the Chest to get my heart going again, I knew nothing of the physical world around me. From the time I collapsed till the time I came back seemed to me only mere seconds, one moment I was enjoying, what seemed to me a Wonderful Dream and the next there was this annoying Sod poking his finger into the side of my neck calling my name. Then I was back in the land of the living and all my senses came back to me and it was just like I'd woken up from some Fantastic Dream. Frightening? Honestly No not for me at that time, however it was so much different for my Son. I wont record his feelings here. Now I don't know how I feel about the whole thing it was if it happened to somebody else, the only worry is sometimes I get a slight side effect from one of the Drugs I'm taking and I think it's happening again, then I calm down and realize there are no other symptoms and my panic goes away.

Back From The Dead
Before I shuffle off to bed tonight I would also like to Express the Following. The NHS as come in for a lot Bad Publicity, however I will say this, The Nurses Doctors and other Staff members who looked after me were Truly Amazing The Nurses were kind gentle and understanding and I think I fell in Love with each of them a little bit, I Know the Wife won't mind. The Doctors and the CPR Team were First Class and helped my Youngest Son Immensely to understand my condition, and what was Happening. Even the Kitchen staff couldn't do enough for me, and I enjoyed every meal they put in front of me. Each touched my life only Fleetingly, but I will Never Forget Any Of Them. I Wish Each And Everyone Of Them Love Peace And Happiness.

Quirky 60s & 70s TV Series
I remember Kenneth Cope in Randal & Hopkirk Deceased. I think (if memory serves) he also played a character called Sunny Jim in Corrie in the 1960's, he was the Lodger at Minnie Cornwell's. A versatile Actor R.I.P Kenneth.

Tell Us a Tale
I wrote a piece about the time I was watched over by Brian Clough. Which is a Claim to Fame I'll always remember. My youngest Son bumped into Richard Brindley in a Petrol Station Shop and said Hi to David McGoldrick who was picking up his kids from somewhere. Do you remember Steve Stone who played for Forest? He suffered a terrible injury which left him on crutches well my wife stopped and let him hobble across a Zebra Crossing, much to the despair of our then neighbour who was a Derby Fan, who asked her why she didn't run him over? It was a joke of course, well we thought it was, but you could never tell with Pete. I do have a long list of people I would love to have met or meet, perhaps an idea for another topic eh @Sirrels County?

Back From The Dead
Thankyou everyone. It does my Old Heart Good, for all your kind words and thoughts. It is truly Amazing none of you know me in reality as it were, I'm only just an Old Notts County Fan using a Fake name to express his opinions on the Football team, who I've only been following since the 1980's, through the Good and Bad Times. It's nice to know that despite the Way the World is nowadays, their are Strangers who have taken the time to express their Feelings and hopes for my recovery. Thankyou All From The Bottom Of My Heart.

@NottsCountyKev Did you think I've got a Ghost writer, writing this Topic for me? Someone who's getting into the Spirit of things? Sorry that's all I could think of, I'll add more when I think of them. Thanks for your comment it did make me Smile.

Back From The Dead
Thanks to you as well @liampie. To be honest as I've said there wasn't a lot I remember about it. My biggest worry now is the effect it's had on my Family and especially my youngest Son, who was with me at the time. And there's no need for the Sad emoji my friend, after all I'm still here????

Back From The Dead
@Robbie Cheers Bud. That means a lot and also thanks to @Joshua. It may be awhile before I can get down the Lane, but I'll get there some time this season. In the mean time I'll try and still express a few opinions and write a few more topics. Thankyou once again Gentlemen.

BREAKING: Hearing over Man City's 115 Charges to begin Monday, 16th Sept.
Yawn. Do you honestly think the Premier Leagues Blue Eyed boys are really going to suffer Relegation? They'll just probably get a huge fine and a measly points deduction. I honestly Don't think they'll get what they deserve, because it seems it's one rule for some Premier Teams and another rule for other teams.

Back From The Dead
Greeting my fellow PON Members, I don't know if you remember me, it's the Old Wheelbarrow Repairman. I've not been on the site for awhile and if you're interested here's why. Are we all sitting comfortably? The I'll begin Once upon a time in a Galaxy Far Far Away, no hold on I can't use that. Let me see ah yes well. A few weeks ago I tired to get onto the site to air some of my views only to find I was unable to do so, after several attempts which ended in failure I decided to leave things and come back to the site the following day, and much to my surprise not only couldn't I get onto the PON Site I couldn't get onto the internet at all. After trying everything still nothing and as the family computer whiz Kid (my eldest son was on holiday) we had to await his return. When he finally got back from his fortnight of Fun and Games, he attempted to put things right only to finally come to the conclusion the old Laptop was Fu****. So a new one was ordered and it finally came yesterday and he set everything up but I still couldn't get back on PON anyway after lots of backward and forwarding and after some hard work by @Chris I've managed to make my return. Thanks Chris your a Star. There was a second reason why I've not been on before, now what was it? Oh Yeah I DIED. I wont bore you with the details ( because I don't remember much of it). I went to the QMC in Nottingham with a pain in my left shoulder and down and around my left shoulder blade. Once in hospital I suffered a New Atrial fibrillation, and a subclinical hyperthyroidism which means my Heart Stopped. A CPR Team brought me back after around 15 minutes. According to my youngest Son who had accompanied me to the hospital. I was transferred ( No fee was involved) from the QMC to the Cardiac Unit at Nottingham City hospital, after several days being hooked up to a machine numerous Blood Tests and blood pressure tests, along with 7 tablets to take on a Daily basis I was allowed home. I am now slowly on the mend and was assured by a Doctor that I am allowed to go back down the Lane to shout and encourage the Mighty Magpies onto Great Things and to also question the Referee's parentage. So in typical Monty Python Fashion- I WAS DEAD. BUT I GOT BETTER.

Fake Football Merchandise.
A Couple of weeks ago now, Notts put out a warning about Clamping down on People who used their Copyrighted Brand illegally, (and quite right to) People making money from Fake Items featuring the official Club Brand is taking money from the Club Coffers. However it would seem Sheffield Wednesday have decide to clamp down on Fake Shirts and have come out with the Following statement. That Fans who wear Fake Wednesday Shirts may be asked to Leave their Stadium. The thing is how do they know what Shirts are Fake? And how would they Police such an operation? I can't understand how the Club will know if a Fan is wearing a Fake Shirt, or Not. Will there be someone at each turnstile standing there asking to look at each Fans Shirt to check it's Genuine and Not Fake, how long would that take? Unless it's Glaringly Obvious there is a Massive difference between the Real and Fake Article, surely they wont be able to tell the difference. Plus all a Fan wearing a Fake shirt has to do is hide their fake shirt under a jumper coat or Jacket. I mean Stewards at the match Aren't going to be able to ask a Fan to remove their clothing, imagine what an uproar that would cause, especially if they asked children. I think this move is just Wednesday trying to scare Fans into Not Buying the Fake shirts and only buying the real Club merchandise from their Official Club Superstore. The only way they are going to stop Fake shirts being sold to Fans is stopping the production at source, and I imagine a Great deal of these Shirts will probably be made in China, so that ain't gonna happen. What are Your Thoughts?
