Three Leopards
@super_ram My Favourite Pub (when I was old enough to drink) was called the White Lion, in Long Eaton. Went back for the first time in 40 years a few Weeks ago. Obviously it's changed in that time, but Not For The Better In My Opinion. A once thriving Pub, it's now one of those Stale Plastic Oldie Worldly Real Ale Pubs, with No Atmosphere and very little going for it.

Thoughtful history : The origins of the UK secret service
@liampie Kate Blanchett played Queen Elizabeth and Joseph Fiennes Dudley in the film Elizabeth , Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons played the parts in a TV Series. Another interesting story is the one between Elizabeth and another of her Favourites Robert 2nd Earl of Essex.. But that's for another time.

Thoughtful history : The origins of the UK secret service
There are many Shady characters who were in the Employ of English Sovereigns or the People who "Advised" the King or Queen Robert Cecil Queen Elizabeth's Spy Master was one such person, who hired people to work as Servants in the Houses of People that were Deemed to be Traitors who would bring harm to the Queen or Replace the English Monarch with the Scottish Catholic Mary Queen of Scots. Then of course there was the ever looming threat of the Spanish, so a Spy Network was an essential to help Protect and Serve the Queen and to Keep all ills away from her Person. Another story (unproven) was that Robert Dudley 1st Earl of Leicester who was one of Elizabeth Favourites and a contender for the Queen's hand in Marriage had someone approach Cecil on his behalf to have his First Wife Murdered, so he could be Free to marry the Queen. Dudley's first wife was found dead at the bottom of a Staircase. However such was the scandal surrounding the Death, and the rumours of Dudley's involvement in his wife's Death, it became impossible for him to Marry the Queen. Eighteen Years after his first wife's Death, Dudley married for a second time upon hearing this Elizabeth promptly banished her from Court.

Historic Nottingham
Nottingham as of course many Famous Historical Stories. Standard Hill, is were Charles II raised his Standard, which Declared the Start of the English Civil War , between Charles Royalists and the Parliament Forces lead by Oliver Cromwell. And the Trip to Jerusalem was the Favourite Pub of the Christian Knights off to Fight in the Crusades. Let us Not Forget Nottingham is the Home to the World's Oldest Professional Football Club. Notts County . (Thought I'd put that in)

Three Leopards
@Robbie The Reason why Jane Grey was only referred to as Lady Jane was the fact she was Edward VI cousin and Not a member of the Royal Family as a Child of Henry VIII would have been. Where as Edward VIII was Prince of Wales and the Heir to King George V. And was Pronounced King on the Death of His Father. The same happened to Edward V heir to Edward IV, ( one of the Princes in the Tower) who ruled as King for two months, before being over thrown by his Uncle Richard Duke of Gloucester who became Richard III (The King in the Car Park).

Three Leopards
@liampie I've always Enjoyed both History and Art. Kings and Queens are a Major part of our History, I enjoy reading about their Lives, but also the time they Ruled England/Britain and the Prominent People who came from each Monarchs Reign. I read many Books about the Romans Vikings Anglo Saxons, how they lived their Political Structure Religions Gods and Goddesses plus their Myths and Legends. And while reading all this their Art and Crafts from Sword and Shield and other Arms making, down to Pots Pans Jugs and Vases, also came to the fore. Heraldry came about so each Soldier and Each Knight could be identified in the heat of Battle and which side was which. The Romans had their Imperial Eagles, the Vikings their Long Ships and the Anglo Saxons fought in War Paint, made from Wode and Dyes from Berries Leaves Clay and other Natural Ingredients. I'll Stop Now Before I Totally Bore You To Tears.

Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
Do you remember those Animal shaped Biscuits? Chocolate on one side and an Animal on the other. It said on the Packet Do Not Eat If Seal Is Broken. I opened the packet up and Wouldn't You Know It The Seal Was Ok, it was the Giraffe that was Broken So I Scoffed The Lot.

Dismantling of Crawley's promotion team continues
Very Good Point @Robbie perhaps the only Comfort we Fans can take is the statement from Richard Montague , when he and Joe Palmer appeared on the Magpie Circle pod cast, in which he stated Notts don't have to sell Players and it take a Huge Offer to Prise Macca from the Lane. Also take Comfort that Macca doesn't want to Leave. But every Player has his Price, and according to some Reports Macca is already on his way to Millwall , with only Personal Terms to be Agreed. If that's the case (and it's a Big If) you would have thought the Club would have come out with a Statement on the matter By saying Nothing would be totally Unprofessional and I wouldn't call the Notts Board Unprofessional.

Dismantling of Crawley's promotion team continues
That's the Problem with lower League Clubs if you Gain Success, the Teams above you in the Footballing Pyramid are going to come sniffing around and begin looking at your Best Players and if they have the Money and your Club needs that money then Players are going to be Sold. That's where Notts are Fortunate that with Chris & Alex at the Helm, their astute running of the Club have put the Magpies in the Position of Not Having To Sell Their Top Players.

The Nest/Fan Zone: Update.
The thing about the Nest is that it's Never been fully explained what happens to the place when there's No Premier Events taking place E.G the Euro's . Will Notts Fans still have to pay a Fiver to stand or a Tenner to sit down on Match Day? If so it's going to drive a lot of Families away, No Cash payments may also be a cause for concern. So once the Euro's are finished hopefully the Club will make a Statement detailing what is going to happen at the Nest what events are planned etc, but most important what it's going to Cost the Ordinary Fan.

The Nest/Fan Zone: Update.
@CliftonMagpie I totally Agree with you regarding your points about the Nest. It should be a Place were Notts Fans can come together to support the Team. It's Sold Out Screams the Headline. However what happens when the Euro's Finish? Or when the Novelty wares off and the Honeymoon Period Finishes? and it's just down to Notts Fans to keep the place going? I told a Mate of mine who is a Regular at the Navigation, it costs him £3 a pint for his favourite Beer , that means he can have three beers and some change out of a Tenner he'll have to pay to sit down in the Nest. The Club also Missed A Huge Opportunity to connect more with the Magpies faithful. Why didn't they run a couple of Competitions regarding Naming The Fan Zone? Plus they could have asked Fans to Design the Logo for the Nest Have different Age groups all the Winning Designs could have been Framed and hung in the Nest and the Ultimate Winner their Design would be placed outside at the Nest Front. And I'm Pretty sure it would have cost a lot less than the Hiring of a Graphic Artist who designed the Monstrosity which Now Welcomes Fans.

Where are they now : Kane Hemmings
@liampie I Always thought Jonathan Forte Got A Raw Deal at Notts. He should have played more and I think if he'd had gotten a Decent Run in the Side, he would have scored many more Goals. He's Retired Now I Believe Through Injury.

Gutter Press At It Again.
@Robbie and @Chris Sorry I didn't mention it in my Topic. The Source of the Content came from the B.B.C. 's own Football Website. Which is another Negative Point for the BEEB.

Three Leopards
@Chris Lions were sort of First recorded in Roman Times and they ranged over a more Vast area than today. In the Present day there are also only two types of Lions the African and the Asian. And as many early Artist never saw a real Lion, they went on descriptions of Merchants such as a Cat like Creature, so Lions, Leopards, Panthers, Cheetahs were all lumped together and Drawn or Painted in a very similar way. And for some reason the Leopard was considered a Cowardly Creature, so King Richard renamed the Creatures on his Great Seal and Shield Lions. His nickname of Lion Heart may have also had something to do with it.

I'm Oblivious To It?
@Chris I think that's why @Robbie and myself think Jack's move to Man City wasn't the right one for him. Sine Pep's got hold of him, Well let's just say it's A disappointment. I think that Jack is much better off in a weaker team, that is where he's the Star Turn at City he's surrounded by other Top Players and this I think as made him Lazy. At Villa they relied on him they needed him, and by Far was their Best Player. With that Pressure he seemed to Thrive, but remove that Responsibility and well we've all seen the Result. Despite that I still think Southgate should have taken him to Germany (my opinion) because even if Jack was on the Bench he would still be an impact player. As I've stated before it wouldn't Surprise me, to see Jack move in the Next Transfer Window.

Gutter Press At It Again.
It's been Reported that England Fans threw Plastic Beer Cups at England Manager Gareth Southgate. It's Now been reported by some Unnamed Journalist that Plastic Beer Cups were thrown from all Angles and several hit section where England Player's Family and Friends sat. According to Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa his Brother was Hit but was fine after the Incident. It was also Stated that None of the England Players Family or Friends were recognised, and None were Deliberately Targeted. Konsa also Stated that Southgate hadn't spoken to the Players regarding the Beer Cups being thrown at him. When Pressed further Konsa said things like this Happen In Football. We try Not to Think About It So We Move On. It seems to me a Bit of an Odd Story Or even a None Story and Comes Across has the Gutter Press, Are Trying To Paint England Fans in a Poor Light.

Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
Did you hear about the Dyslexic Pimp ? Bought himself a Warehouse. My Mate is 18 stone and it takes him hours to get to my place. Mind You there's a McDonald's and 2 Greggs between his House and Mine. Terrible News another Mate and his long Term Girlfriend have Split Up. She said he thinks more of his Puzzle Books than he did her. Which is true 15 years they were together and Never a Cross Word.

Will Evans at the San Sirrel ?
The Photo shows Will Evans at Notts County. He's Invisible then? What an Asset a Striker you can't see, he could play havoc with opponents defences. If you can't see him, you can't mark him, then again if your Team Mates can't see you ? Ah Well maybe Not such a Good Signing.

Where are they now : Kane Hemmings
Didn't he move to a Scottish Club, when he Left Notts ? Thought he did Ok at the Lane.

@TheSkipper Don't think his Kid will thank him if that's the case. Once the Lad's grown up and he can watch all the antics Gazza's been up to over the years, he ain't going to be impressed with his Old Man. You Named Me After Him? Cheers Dad.
