  1. That's whole point @liampie will English up and coming talent be given the chance to pit their skills against good Foreign players in the Premiership ? Because for every Haaland Salah and Son there is a bunch of Mediocre Foreigners playing for teams that are stopping young Talented English players getting into their Club's Starting XI. Eventually this will have an Effect on the English National Side. It seems a lot of English Talent is going to Europe Now, as European Clubs recognize their worth where Premier League Clubs Do Not. How long will it be before we see Jack Grealish in a Spanish Italian or German team's shirt? How much more English talent will move abroad because they don't Get A Fair Crack Of The Whip in England's Premier League? However it seems if an English player moves abroad unless he continually makes the Headlines e.g. Bellingham and Kane they seem to be forgotten by England. And yet if they had been given a chance to play regularly by an English top team they very well could end up playing on a regular basis for their Country.
  2. Unfortunately @Robbie you speak the truth and even here at Notts we are witnessing the decline of the English/British way of playing. The Tippy Tappy style of Football which was successful for the Magpies in the National League and for the first six months of last season seems here to stay. Perhaps the only way it would be gotten rid of, is if Notts endured a season long Relegation Battle and in the worse case were actually Relegated back to the National League. Otherwise we Fans are going to be stuck watching this Mind Numbing Boring Chuckle Brother's From Me To You Type Of Football. As you also state there are English Players stuck in the Lower Leagues, who if they were members of a Premier League Team would be playing for England on a Regular Basis. Prime Example Macca what sort of Headlines would he be getting if his scoring records of the Last Three seasons (2 with Notts 1 with Gateshead) were done for a top Premier League Team.? He be on the same level as Harry Kane and playing along side him in the England Team. Then again Knowing Southgate he probably wouldn't. Another Interesting point Top English players are now plying their trade in Europe. Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid, Harry Kane at Bayern Munich and Jordon Sancho must be kicking himself, by leaving Dortmund for Manchester United, it would seem his life as been hell at Old Trafford. Once he returned to Dortmund on loan, his Footballing Career began to be back on the Up.
  3. There was an Expedition Group exploring an uncharted piece of heavily Jungled terrain. When they were captured by a local Tribe and were taken to their King, who declared that the Group would be sacrificed to their Gods. The Groups leader stepped forward and said, Your Majesty is their a way where we can keep our lives? The King thinks then say's There are four challengers which one of must under take. If he passes the Challengers you are free to go. Little Paddy steps forward and says I'll take on your challengers Mighty King. Very Well says the King. Firstly you must drink a full bottle of our 100% Spirit which we brew in one Go. Then you must walk bare foot across a bed of white hot coals. Thirdly in a cave in the Mountain, there is a Female Mountain Lion with a painful loose tooth hanging from her jaw you must remove the tooth with your bare hands and finally, you must go down into the village and make Love to the Ugliest Woman in our tribe. No problem says Paddy. And off he sets to complete the Challengers. First the bottle of100% spirit straight down it goes. Taking off his Boots and socks Paddy walks across the white hot coals. Then he sets off up the Mountain path into the cave of the Female Mountain Lion. Every one followed at a safe Distance. From within the cave comes the sounds of Growling and Roaring and screams of Pain and Agony. The group are convinced poor Paddy is Dead. But quarter of an hour later Paddy staggers out of the cave Badly Mauled Clawed covered in blood his clothes Ripped to Shreds. Right he says Where's the Woman with Toothache?
  4. @Chris Regarding your Manager Falling of a Chair, in the Words of BSM Williams. OH DEAR HOW SAD. NEVER MIND.
  5. Is There A Danger of the National England Football Team becoming a less Potent Force, within World Football? As the influx of Foreign players and Coaches in the Premier League seems to get larger with each passing season, how soon will it be before it's starts having an effect on the England Team? Because it seems that there are less and less English Players coming through the Ranks of Footballing Academies in the Premier League. From which all England players are chosen. The Fault lies purely at the feet of the F.A. due to the fact they allow far to many Foreign business people take over the running of a Team ,who instead of encouraging Home Grown Talent, will go out and pay millions upon millions of pounds on players, mainly from Overseas, While English talent is left to go to waste. If this trend continues it will have an effect on future England Teams, who's manager may find himself in the Position of having to look at players from the Championship and perhaps even League 1. The Exception to the rule at the moment anyway seems to be Liverpool. Who used several of their Academy players in their first team against Chelsea in the Final of the League Cup. However with the retirement of Jurgen Klopp, will Liverpool tend to go the way most Premier League clubs do and buy their talent instead of picking players from their thriving Academy? What Is The Answer? This problem as already been touched upon by other members on the PON Site and that is Only a certain amount of Foreign players will be allowed in a Teams Squad and only a set number can turn out each week in the Starting XI, the remainder should be made up of English Players and every Club should be encouraged to produce players from within the Ranks of their Academies. Ignore bringing on English Talent, and eventually there is a chance of England becoming A Second Class Footballing Nation.
  6. Leicester Aston Villa Nottingham Forest and Wolves. Are currently the only teams from the Midlands who are in the Premier League. Leicester and Forest are the only two in the East Midlands and as one as just come up from the Championship and the other has struggled, since their return to the English Top Tier is it any wonder the East Midlands have failed to produce a Regular England International Player? And any outstanding English player outside of the Premier League as more chance platting sand than getting into the England Squad. Add the fact that most Premier Clubs will sooner buy Mediocre Foreign Players for Millions of Pounds to fill their Squads, than bring on their own talent from their Academies,
  7. There were these two Old Girls who were always on the look out for a Bargain. One day they were walking round a Market and one of them finds a Toilet Brush on the label it says For All Your Toilet Needs. Only 50p So she buys it. It's the last one. Anyway the Two Old Girls meet up again a Fortnight later. Here Edith how are you getting on with that Toilet Brush? Well I'm still using it Ada, but my Husband's gone back to using Toilet Paper.
  8. @Chris Now Me , I 'd told the Aussies to B******S and stick their signed Bat where the Sun Don't Shine. I would have given the Manager a round of F**** and the Truth about him being a Lazy B****** and Quit on the Spot. And Believe me it wouldn't have been the First time.
  9. Personally I think the Guy has some good points But we all have different opinions and that's what makes the Football World Go Round.
  10. Well it seems that the Recruitment Team have taken on the worries that Notts Fans have regarding defensive players and a Goalkeeper. Alex had 16 clean sheets last year and just missed out on the Golden Gloves for League 2. Hopefully he and Tiernan Brookes ( who should be promoted to the Notts Senior Squad) can form a decent partnership and help and push each other. He was signed for an Undisclosed Fee. Why do Notts persist in saying this, just tell us Fans how much he cost. It will come out eventually so why Not Tell the Fans from the start?
  11. @Robbie There have been GB Olympic teams in the past they won Gold on three separate occasions in the .early 20th Century, 1900, 1908 and 1912. They have been more attempts at forming a GB Olympic team in recent years which included some Professional Players but the GB team failed to qualify for the competition. Over the years I think it can be said England have had the most success in qualifying and playing in Major Tournaments, but would a Great Britain been a better choice? Players like George Best, Dennis Law, Kenny Dalglish John Toshack would have easily got into the England team of their era. Billy Bremner Pat Jennings Terry Hennessey and Gareth Bale are players from other UK Countries who would have benefitted playing in a Combined GB or UK Team. There must be a long list of Players (other than Englishmen) who would make it into a Great Britain Side a side capable of Winning a Euro's or World Cup Final.
  12. With the Euro's now in full flow and England and Scotland having different experiences and some of the shocking Results England and the Home Countries have had in Past Major Football Tournaments what if all the GB FA Authorities could agree, do you think a Great Britain Side would do any better in the Euro's or World Cup. But more importantly, would team GB Get The Support?
  13. @liampie What a Boring Web Site PON would be if we all Agreed about everything, would it Not? You and I it seems Agree to Disagree about Southgate. His success with the England Under21's I was not fully aware of, however as they say You Can't Keep Living On Past Glories. And while his Results Record is Good his Legacy will reflect the fact like a lot of England Managers before him he failed to Win a Major Tournament. Yes I know the Euro's are still being played at the moment, but Hand On Heart I Can't See England Winning the Competition. I would be more than happy to be proven Wrong. And even if Southgate's England Team are Crowned Europe's Best. He's a Million Miles Away From being the G.O.A.T. Which is what this topic was all about and which seems we've wondered off.
  14. @Robbie Yes you're probably right, however I think the case for their reinstatement is they would be more meaningful than all these second rate so called Friendlies, that the 3 Lions play. I mean I don't know about you but I would sooner watch an England vs Scotland Match than England vs Iceland or England vs Norway or Luxembourg Match. I think Matches against a fellow UK country would Generate More Interest than against some Mediocre European Side.
  15. @Robbie & @liampie. I think the atmosphere at an England vs Scotland Match live at either Wembley or Hampden Park would be Electric and I for one would like to see the Home Internationals Return, the thing is would they generate enough Interest and of course money for the F.A. and the Premier League, who I assume would take a large percentage of any T.V. Money. Regarding memories there is a video on You Tube in which Scotland got beat 5-1 by the 3 Lions. The Scottish Keeper's name was Alan Kennedy and after the match a Scottish Fan said They Shot The Wrong Kennedy. Now That's Harsh. Funny But Harsh. Do you also remember the School Boys International Matches which used to feature fairly regular on T.V back in the 60's 70's ? There you could see the up and coming talent of School Boys ( who were attached to Professional Clubs). Some of those games were amazing because the talent on show played with their own flair and talent, before it was knocked out of them when (and if ) they turned Professional. Which could be the subject of another topic.
  16. My Mate Phil is one of those guys who enjoys collecting facts about all manner of things Historical, Nature Human Nature and at times he can be quite boring other times very interesting. For example, he asked how do you know Your Girlfriend is putting on weight? She Fits Into Your Wife's Clothes.
  17. @Robbie SNICKO, what's that? Some kind of New Chocolate Bar? Seriously haven't the Football Authorities learned anything? VAR as proved to be a Major problem now this, which is going to cause even more trouble, and probably even more delays during a Match. I mean That's what Footy fans want isn't it, the Ref blowing his whistle every couple of minutes to stop the match to check if a player has done something wrong, or something happened in a build up to a Goal. And what happens if this "Technology" Goes wrong and decisions can't be made? Will the Match be Abandoned? Hi Tech? No Thanks.
  18. @Fan of Big Tone Aye the wife was right (as always). I wasn't sure this being a Notts County site. If there would be much interest. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was an encounter I will remember for the Rest Of My Life. He truly was a remarkable and wonderful Man.
  19. @Robbie It's not my only Brian Clough story. Not long after he passed away I was chatting to a Guy Jeff who I used to work with, Jeff was a Big Forest Fan and as a side hustle (that's what they're called now days) being a keen photographer Jeff used to take photo's of Famous People and events etc and sell them to Papers and Magazines. Anyway not long after Cloghie had been appointed the Forest manager Jeff turned up with his camera. And what do you want young man? I've come to take your photo Mr Clough. Not dressed like that, come back wearing a collar and tie a jacket and a decent pair of trousers and I'll consider it. There was a group of us listening to Jeff's story, and we all burst out laughing. That was Typical Brian Clough. We never did find out if Jeff got his photo has the knocking off buzzer sounded.
  20. I'm not sure if this story would be of any interest. But the Wife said I should tell it anyway. So here goes. After clinching promotion to the Old First Division a Friend and I along with his Dad went along to the Old Baseball Ground to watch Derby play Newcastle. It was a hell of a job finding a place to park and eventually my Friend Dave's Dad had to park well away from the ground it's self. After the match which Derby lost 1-0, to I think a Malcom McDonald goal. Dave's Dad told us to stand next to a section of high fencing which ran down one side and protected a car park.. Stay there and don't move, while I go and find the car we were told. Anyway we were there for quite awhile when a voice from behind us asked. Are you two Yong Men alright? We turned and the Derby Manager Brian Clough stood there. My mate stood there opened mouthed and I managed to blurt out Yes thankyou Mr Clough we're just waiting for his Dad to bring his car round.. Are you Derby Fans? We both nodded. My team didn't play well at all today. But I'll get it put right for next Saturday. We stood there for a good five minutes under Cloughie's watchful eye chatting away as Kids do. Here's my Dad shouted Dave. His Dad had pulled up in his car on the other side of the road.. Right you young men off you go, and mind the road. We ran over to Dave's Dad's Car and I turned to wave. But the Great Man had Gone.
  21. It was my Niece's birthday the other week. So I asked my sister what was she into? Oh Frozen Stuff. So I bought some Over Chips and Peas,
  22. @Robbie You're right about Bellingham, he's something else. But like you say he's a marked man, and all the opposition Hard Men are going kick him from one end of the Pitch to other if they can.. Or they'll pull on his shirt stamp on him and bully him either to injure him or get some reaction out of him to get him Sent Off.
  23. Well what can you really say? Another typical England performance under Southgate. Great First Half Poor Second Half, I know lets go defensive , if the 3 Lions play like that against a Good Team they're Gonna Get Battered. At least it's a Win.
  24. You know I've always been a Big Dog Fan. In fact all my Family have dogs. Mind you I remember one time, I was bitten by a German Shepard. He later apologized. He said He'd drank to much schnapps at Dinner Time.
  25. Well now a couple or so weeks ago I wrote a Topic about the Media nicking Fans comments off Websites such has PON, and making those comments into a story for their publication. Somebody from the Football League World picked up on Why Notts could sell Macca. It now seems the The Real EFL have done the same after myself and others commented on the chances of Swansea making a Double Bid for Macca and Jodi. It's a Shame these so called Journalists (and I use the term very loosely ) haven't got the Talent to write their own stories instead of Stealing Fans Comments and written Topics of said Fans. So it would seem the item is Clickbait and it's just Rumour and Hearsay, stolen from our remarks and comments on the PON Website.
