  1. @Robbie Notts I am sure will Fight Tooth and Nail to keep Macca. Richard Montague said as much in the Magpie Circle Pod Cast. However he also said it would have to be a really Good Offer to let Macca Go, which means Notts Do have a Figure in Mind and if another Club matches it, Macca will be on his way.
  2. My wife as C.O.P.D which comes under the DYSPENA umbrella as it were. You may want to check to see if you have Symptoms of that. There are videos on you tube which list symptoms and how you can help yourself with coping with C.O.P.D. Reading what your Doctors done, you may need to get your Lungs fully checked out X-Rayed. With you Vaping there may be some Vaping residue in your Lungs which may mean this is why you're struggling. Don't smoke or vape or breath in second hand smoke from friends that smoke. Stay away from Bonfires or open fires. This is what my wife was told. Good Luck @ARLukomski Hope Everything Goes Well For You. Please if you have the time, keep us all up to Date.
  3. @Chris Selling Macca now would mean perhaps getting the most Money for him. He is after all 27 and 29 with a year left on his contract and at any time should his goal tally Drop, say below 20 a season other teams will rapidly lose interest in him. Therefore £2.7 million plus addons my be a tempting offer and one to difficult for the Notts Board to turn down. I'd love Macca to stay at the Lane for the Rest of his Career but would that be possible? He'll have his own ambitions and should Notts fail to get Promoted this coming season and should Macca still be at the Lane, then a lower offer may come in and Notts may let him go for say £1.5 million thinking they could have let him go this off season for £2.7 million so not wanting to miss out on a decent payday he'd go for a lower price. But that is in the hands of Chris & Alex and who ever else has the say so on Transfers.
  4. @Robbie You speak the truth about Williams, however we the Fans Have No Say on the Transfer of Notts players and if the Board think £2.7 million is enough then regardless of the Fans feelings Macca will be on his way. However like You I hope Macca stays at the Lane.
  5. @Robbie I believe the main problem with why Football is played the Continental way is that with the Influx of Foreign Managers and Players. They arrive on these shores with the Continental Style Ingrained in them and seeing the success this system as brought to Manchester City under Pep and Chelsea under Mourinho, English Clubs have been keen to adopt this style assuming it will also bring their Side Success, therefore the British style of play has been put on the back burner, despite the way that style Dominated English and European Cup football in the 1970's and 1980's by Liverpool and Manchester United in the 1990's and early 2000's. Add to that European Cup victories for Forest Aston Villa with the British Style plus numerous English Team Victories in other European Trophy Finals playing the same way. But both Pep and Jose have never managed a Premier League club, without millions of pounds at their disposal, to buy the Best Players in the World, who mainly play the Continental Way. English Clubs have now adopted that way of playing convinced that style of Football will bring them success and sticking to it Come What May. Roberto De Zarbi at Brighton achieved a 6th place in the Premier League the season before last with the Continental Style, but last season saw Brighton slip to 10th, De Zarbi seeing the way football was played at the Club, wanted to change things around, however the Brighton Board remained adamant that despite the four place drop their Model is the Right way to go and in the end De Zerbi Left. It will be interesting to see if Brighton bounce back this coming season. It would appear that Notts have the same kind of problem. Under the current Notts "Model" which was successful under Luke Williams at National League Level and for a time at League 2 level before teams worked out how to counter the Notts style of play resulted in the Magpies poor finish to the season. Will Stuart Maynard be allowed to change things around or will he have to stick the "Model" Regardless? Interestingly Aden Baldwin stated on his move to Bradford he was looking forward to playing a different style of Football. Was that a remark saying he wasn't really Happy to play the Notts way? And did the the "Model" have any influence on Richard Brindley's departure?
  6. @Robbie @CliftonMagpie @menzinho It seems that Swansea will offer £2.7 million for Macca, to join them. Is that enough to tempt the Notts board to part with their Star Striker? I think it might be, if the Rumour is True of Course. Then again there's No Smoke Without Fire as the saying goes.
  7. @Robbie I've just put my answer in your England Best and Worse Managers thread. While answering a similar question of another PON member. Take a look Bud.
  8. @DangerousSausage I think you'll find the reason why England have won nothing is the Team have Never Been Good Enough. Even the So Called Golden Generation failed to Win any thing. It seems when the Chips are down England tend to Bottle It. Some if Not a Large slice of that Failure is down to the FA and their choice of Manager. It would seem obvious that in the 1970's to 19180's the man for the England Job was Old Big 'Ed himself Brain Clough. But the FA had a pure Distain for Cloughie, that instead of offering the job to the right candidate who probably would have Won Trophies, they decided to go with Managers who were out of their depth when it came to leading the National Team. The Continental Style is what you see down the Lane trying to be copied, that is build up from the back and play Tippy Tappy Football. Continental sides can play that way, England can't but instead of trying to counter that type of Football with their own ideas, they try and copy it and fail Miserably at it. And before anyone says most Premier Teams play that way, most Premier League Teams have a Continental Manager and are full of Continental Players, who are already familiar with that Style of Play.
  9. I'm always trying to eat healthy , keep fit, the other week a Mate asked Hey have you Lost Weight? Well I am trying to get into Shape. And what's this Month's Shape, a Pear? asked my other Mate. I'll have you know I've got Water Retention I replied. More Like Chips and Beer Retention said my Mate. Yeah you're Probably Right.
  10. To Right @Robbie trying to copy another style and failing at it, well that says it all Try out different things and if doesn't work try out another style, 4-4-2 4-2-4 4-3-3, play in a Diamond shape find out what ever style that suits, then play that style but also be able to mix things up now and again, keep the opposition guessing, don't be Predictable. That's the sign of a Good Manager.
  11. @Piethagoram That's Ok it's your right to Disagree. One old style Manager namely Alf Ramsey Did Win A World Cup. How many Southgate Won ? Oh that's right ZERO.
  12. @ARLukomski While I 'm not Doctor or medical expert it sounds like you may have a condition called DYSPNEA. Try looking the condition up on You tube there's wide range of helpful advice on there, it may help.
  13. Another Manager perhaps worth a mention, is Sir Bobby Robson who was stated by many to be one of the Best England managers, of all time. He was the first England manager to get the 3 Lions to a World Cup Semi-Final on Foreign soil. Interestingly Robson while the England Manger offered to resign twice and on both occasions recommended Brian Clough to be his successor . Both times the resignation wasn't accepted due to the Fact the head of the FA Bert Millichip hated Clough. Robson only suffered 1 defeat in 28 Qualifying Matches for major tournaments, as the England Manager.
  14. This just in, according to Wales on line Swansea are thinking of Making a sizeable bid for Macca. Despite Macca's appointment as Club Captain and a Step Up to the Championship the Swans manager Luke Williams is Confident that Macca could make the move. It is reported, but no names were mentioned that Williams has had conversations with players on the Lap Top. There were several mistakes in the story, one stating Williams signed Langstaff from Gateshead, which is false, as Macca had already been signed before Williams was appointed. I have stated in other Threads that I wouldn't be surprised if Swansea came in for Macca. He and Williams had a good relationship at Notts and the Swans Head Coach as every confidence in Macca despite the fact Langstaff would have to Step Up two divisions. Swansea are looking for a Striker and hope to secure any deal before the Closure of the current Transfer Window. So could one of the Magpies Top Three be on the move after all ?
  15. One Guy who is missing so far from this List is Walter Winterbottom, the Youngest and longest serving England Manager 1946-1962. Amazingly he had No previous Professional Managerial Experience. During his time as Manager England Won the British Championship (Home Internationals) 13 times in 16 years. England Played 139 matches under Winterbottom. Winning 78 Drew 33 and lost 28. Goals for 383 Goals Against 196. He Never Picked His Own Team this was done by a Selection Committee Can you Believe that? Qualified for Four World Cup Final Tournaments and got to the Quarter Finals on two occasions. Including World Cup Qualifiers England Won 15 matches Drew 7 and lost 6. Goals for 75 Goals Against 35 That's Not To Bad A Record.
  16. With topics on the PON website such has the Best and Worse England manager, the G.O.AT Manager the Home Internationals have come up. Remember them ? I certainly do the clashes between the Auld Enemies England and Scotland, plus Wales and Northern Ireland and memories that those matches provoke, such as (I believe and correct me if I'm wrong) Scotland being the First Team to beat England after their World Cup Victory 3-2 . The Goal George Best scored against England by literally kicking the ball out of Gordon Banks Hands. So my Fellow PON Members let's have your memories. But more Important Would You Like To See The Home Internationals returned to the Football Calendar ?
  17. @Robbie Nah I don't think the Jokers Wild thread is in any Danger. It's just that I Enjoy a Good Laugh and I also Enjoy telling Jokes and making People Laugh, I Like to see People Happy. To be Honest it's a shame You Can't tell Dirty Jokes on the Jokers Wild thread. I've got quite a few of those !!
  18. The Worst without a Shadow of a Doubt is Gareth Southgate. Despite his results record, With the Talent he has had on hand, he should have at least two Trophies. But he's Nothing more than a Lickspittle a Yes man who bows down to the FA and his Political Masters. I Shall Return to state who I believe is the Best England Manager.
  19. @Robbie Don't want to Burst Your Bubble Fella, but it would seem the Notts board have a certain criteria and any advice even if it was Earth Shattering Correct, they'll Ignore it.
  20. @Robbie, the Guy had a touch of the Pat Jennings then!!
  21. @Fan of Big Tone Duncan Ballantine. Was the Fella.
  22. @Fan of Big Tone, I was just about to ask Which Dragon Are You?
  23. The Squad is slowly starting to take shape, however there is still one Vital Ingredient Still Missing. A Leader on the Pitch. Something Notts haven't had since Michael Doyle left. Jim O'Brien tried his Best but wasn't in the team for every game. The Man for the job should be a Defender or Defensive Mid fielder who can watch how things develop in front of him and can adapt himself and those around him to any situation the opposition come up with. A New Keeper is a must with plenty of EFL Experience, yes I know Sam is experienced but at 36 I think he's coming to the end of his Career. A Keeper aged between 28-32 with a proven record and young Tiernan Brookes as the number two would seem a better choice. Young Brookes deserves his chance and repeatedly sending him out on loan isn't going to do him any good. Maybe a couple more Mean Defenders should be brought in. Along with Tiernan Brookes, James Sanderson and one other academy prospect should be promoted to the Senior Squad. The Attack looks good (on paper at least) so there shouldn't be any problems there. The only strange thing is since his injury nothing much has been mentioned about Alassana Jatta.
  24. @upthepies My thoughts exactly, I've stated in another thread a fiver to stand up and a tenner to sit down, plus an extra fiver if you want to park your car. Then the drinks and the food you buy, it could turn out to be far to expensive for a family to attend. Plus is it a fiver to gain entrance on a Notts Match Day? Plus the place is Cashless. What happens if Fans don't have a Card and prefer to pay Cash.? I know I do. I 'll go down the Lane watch the match and go to my favourite watering hole the Partizan Tavern.
  25. Any PON members go to the Opening Night at the Fan Zone? If so can we have a Honest Report? Both The Good and The Bad?
