  1. His stats look pretty decent and he could link up well with Matt Platt making a tough looking Defence for Notts. That is of course if the Recruitment team can convince him to come to the Lane. I wonder what his Leadership qualities are?
  2. Lets hope this action is a wake up call for the Premier League and City's 115 charges of breaching the PL Financial rules will be Finally Investigated. Both Everton and Forest had their cases sorted and points deducted, now it should be City's turn. If they get a massive points deduction (as they should) and there's a Strong Possibility of Relegation, how long do you think Pep and City's Top Players Will Hang Around ?
  3. @Piethagoram Hopefully you can give us a Potted Run down of what happens. I would have liked to have gone, but I understand the Tickets Sold out quite quickly.
  4. I think @Robbie that United will say Ratcliffe only has a certain percent of ownership and that the Glaziers are to proper owners of United, that could be a way they Wrangle it.
  5. Hopefully that Scandinavian group doesn't include a Certain pair of Danish Brothers?
  6. @Simon Clark That's the good thing about these topics to encourage debate, but we've strayed off the Topic a little bit, when I wrote it my idea was to discuss letting the Premier League go it's own way and let the Rest of Football change things to a more equal footing and let Fans have a bigger say, but we seem to be caught up in a separate debate regarding the Play Off's I would be interested to learn of other Fans ideas regarding The EFL breaking away from the FA and the Premier League, (who I honestly believe is Ruining the Game we all love and follow.) and how they'd go about making things better.
  7. @Robbie I agree with some of your points, however it always struck me that Ruben didn't really want to be at Notts, he only wanted to use the Club as a window so he could show off his Footballing Skills and hope another club higher up the Footballing Pyramid would come in for him. As I understand it he was ready to leave the Lane before Ian Burchanell left and it was Luke Williams who convinced him to stay. And you really don't want a player who's all Me Me Me in the dressing room. Football after all is a Team Game.
  8. Once again things in the Premier League just get Dafter. Manchester United are going to offer 19 year old Kobbie Mainoo a new contract, which will quadruple his current weekly wage. This Obscene amount of money proves how much the Prem is out of Touch with the Real Footballing World. Can you Imagine the Amount of Pressure that's going to be placed on this Young Man's shoulders? He's going to have to perform at the top of his game, each and every game and the Media are going to have a field day, if he doesn't . Because one thing the Main Stream Media like other than building up a Player is Knocking him back down again. Let's hope there's someone's around to keep his feet firmly on the ground, because all that money is going to have one hell of an impact on his young life. Having so much cash and not knowing what to do with it all, is a certain way to lead him down the wrong path. And you'd think by now United would have some idea about giving a youngster that much money, how it can very easily ruin the Kids Life. Just remember a certain George Best. Good Luck Kobbie You're Gonna Need It.
  9. Lets be honest. Notts was just a stepping stone for Ruben, a player of his calibre wasn't going to be left in the Footballing basement of the National League or League 2 . The biggest Regret for the Owners must have been he went on a Free Transfer. I think he was offered a new contract before Transfer Window of 2022/2023 and he refused to sign it. That being the case he should have been Transfer Listed that January and Notts would have benefitted financially from his Sale.
  10. A few Years ago my eldest Son actually visited the Auschwitz Camp. He declared it is something that will stay with him for the Rest Of His Life. Even now after all the years that have past since the Camp's Liberation, there is a feeling of Evil in the atmosphere. After he told me about it, he said Dad everybody alive today and future Generations must make sure a thing like this, Never Happens Again.
  11. @Fan of Big Tone I have to agree with @Robbie . Imagine the feeling down the Lane if Notts had failed to get Promoted from the National League, after all the hard work the Squad and Coaching staff had put in only to be denied, at the very end of the season. And I would hazard to guess that a large majority of the team would have left, and that would have meant a total Rebuild at Notts. That expensive plus a possible drop in season ticket sales and the Magpies may still be stuck in that League even now trying to battle their way back into the EFL.
  12. @Robbie The reason I'd let the Premier League go it's own way is because if the top six went into a European Super League, those still left in PL would still have a distinct advantage over other clubs coming up from the Championship. And you would only be replacing the Top six with another top six and they'd dominate League and Cup competitions as the current top sides do. I think you'd only be changing Manchester City Manchester United Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea and Spurs, with Newcastle Villa Brighton West Ham Everton and Wolves. The second six may not be as strong as the original six, but any Club with owners with Deep pockets will end up dominating any remaining PL teams. This of course would be the same in the Lower Leagues, which means there would have to be a way of levelling up the teams. Maybe each team having to be allowed only a certain Transfer Budget, say £10 million with which they can spend on any amount of players within that Budget, be it one or half a dozen. Putting Teams on a more equal footing would benefit the game after all what Fan wants to go and watch their get thumped 4-5 nil on a regular basis? It would be very much down to the skill of the Coach and his Staff and not Money Bags owners. The Draft Pick (like American Football) I don't think would work. After all which team who has an excellent Academy would want to see their Star Youth player(s) packed off to play for another club? After they had brought the Kid on trained him and looked after his interests. A young player could be bought by another team as part of their Transfer Budget but would they be prepared to spend a part of their Transfer Budget on an untried Youngster? All Clubs should be encouraged to produce their own footballing talent, instead of poaching young players from other teams with a Better Academy.
  13. Here's an Idea. Get rid of the Premiership, by that I mean leave the Prem to it's own devices. The EFL need to break away from the FA and control the Championship League 2 and rebrand the National League League 3. Yes I know it isn't that simple but I'm sure Fans on this site and other sites and Football Fans in General could come up with a Blue Print that could work and engage with Fans and let them have a stronger say in the running of their club. My thoughts 1 A maximum Cap on Transfer fees. No player to be sold for more than £10 million. 2 Players wages set at a maximum figure of no more than £15,000 a week. 3 Do away with the Transfer window Transfer deals allowed during all the season. 4 Have their own Cup Competitions. 5 All pitches to be brought up to a certain standard. 6 Clubs in the National League be given a chance to play in the EFL League 3 if they so wish. 7 New owners must meet Strick Regulations before being allowed to purchase a Club. They must guarantee they are able to finance a Club for at least 5 years. 8 A Fund to be organized that all Clubs pay (once) an equal amount into to combat things such as another Pandemic. 9 Play offs to be discontinued. Each League top 3 up bottom 3 down. It's unfair a team in 6th place can get promoted over a team in 3rd place who may have 10, 15 or more points over the club in 6th place. 10 Clubs should be encouraged to bring through it's own talent and have a minimum of 3 players from their Academy in their Senior Squad. Those are my ten ideas and yes I know a more accomplished Football Fan could probably pick holes in it, but these are just my thoughts and ideas and I think letting the Premiership go it's own way, will be much better for the English Game in General, and Fans in particular. Now my fellow Magpie Fans it's your turn, lets have your ideas, and if you don't agree with a fellow fan's idea, remember it's their opinion and their entitled to it.
  14. If you have children I bet this question as come up. My son came home from school and asked Dad where do I come from? Er well um and you go through THE TALK and explain everything and say Do you understand all that I've told you? And with a Puzzled look on his face he said Yes I think so. Only there's a New Boy in our class who comes from Cornwall and I just wondered where I came from.
  15. @Robbie You're so right Mate, 36 teams in the Champions League, will devalue the competition in fact really they'll have to rename it. How about the European Super League? That's what UEFA is trying to do, bring in the Super League via the Back Door. As you've stated before UEFA aren't going to give up this money spinning idea , the Super League will come about one way or another and the 36 team Champions League is just another attempt to get it up and running. And what will happen? We'll get the moaning and groaning from the Premiership, The season's to long our players are tired playing all these extra games it means more chance of injuries to our players. And of course the FA with bend over backwards to accommodate the whining winging Premier League Prima Donna's and the rest of the English game will suffer.
  16. I remember the time my Dad had a large throbbing boil on the end of his nose. Poor guy couldn't sleep because of the pain. Mum couldn't sleep because she was laughing. Anyway in the end Mum called the Doctor in. The Doctor arrived and took one look at Dad and from his Doctor's bag, produced a needle, a Great Big Steel Needle. He ushered all the family out of the Bedroom and we all stood on the landing Listening. You could hear poor old Dad hollering and screaming in pain, for a good ten minutes finally everything went quiet. We all waited then the Doctor came out of the Bedroom. How is he Doctor? asked Mum His nose looks a lot better now replied the Doc I've sown a Button on it.
  17. At Best midtable to lower reaches of League 1. Worst case fighting to get back into the EFL. I just hope that Notts stay on a Firm Financial Footing. Fans Match Day Comfort is Improved. Five years is a long time in Life let alone Football many things can and will happen, lets just wait and see.
  18. I think it was much better when the Champions League was the European Cup a knock Competition between only the Champions of each Country. But as stated now it's all down to Money and Greed. Looking at this years final Dortmund only finished 5th in the German Bundesliga at least Madrid are Champions in the true sense of the word.
  19. While out Paint balling, I started to move from my position, my mate called out Duvet Duvet What? I asked. I think he means Duck Down said my other Mate. The wife and me were watching that Dutch Detective series on Tele the other night. Van Der Valk? asked my Mate Nah. Clever Clogs. So I went into the local D.I.Y Shop and bought a big hinge. I took it to the checkout and the women asked Do you want a Screw for that? Lady I said I'm a Married Man.
  20. @Robbie I've read the Sky report and it's says more or less what the BBC article said. It would appear that Snus should be Banned outright by the FA and any player should run the risk of also being Banned for using it. 50% players using it want to stop so an outright Ban can only be the way Forward, you'd think wouldn't you? Those players affected should then be given all the necessary Help in combating their Addiction.
  21. Why? Notts don't need to take a young keeper on Loan. Tiernan Brookes should be in the Squad next season. our head of Recruitment kept banging on about how Notts need to bring their own Talent through, and sending young Brookes out on Loan, only to have him replaced by an on loan Keeper of the same age is farcical, and isn't going to help Tiernan's development in any way, now is it?
  22. A Good Strong Player for the Magpies. Good Luck and All The Best Mike.
  23. I would hope that the position of Goalkeeper is very much in the thoughts of the Recruitment team along side the need to sign Experienced Defenders at Notts. Getting Bart back ? Well Notts could ask and see if he was prepared to do a Didzy and come back to the Lane to finish his career regardless of the money on offer. Notts don't need another young Keeper, we have one in Tiernan Brookes, in my opinion it would be a mistake to ferry the Lad out on Loan this season. He should be at the Lane learning his trade from the likes of Bart or another Experienced Keeper ready to take over the Mantel of the Notts number1. I know I'm in Dream land but wouldn't it be Great to have Kasper back between the sticks at the Lane? Not only would he be an excellent role model for young Brookes but he'd be an Excellent Captain and Leader on the Pitch. I Can Dream Can't I?
  24. @Robbie I would think that until something serious happens to a Player (Male or Female) such has collapsing during a game or a player developing a heart condition or cancer which can be linked to Snus, the Powers that be will ignore the problem ( much like linking dementia to heading one of the Old Leather footballs). Looking deeper into the subject over the past few seasons Players have collapsed during a game, could the use of Snus be part of the reason for their problem? This is of course if it can be proved the player as used the drug, on a regular basis. In fact would Medical Staff even look for a link between, Snus and the players condition? You are completely correct regarding Footballers being a Role Model to Young Fans. If memory serves former Forest and Leeds player Duncan McKenzie confessed to smoking a packet of 20 cigarettes a day and the Sun Newspaper at the time was up in arms about it and how McKenzie was setting a very bad example for youngsters. But looking at his addiction did smoking his packet cigarettes, give him the same buzz as Snus does to modern day players?
  25. Well this is interesting. An Article appeared on the BBC Football Website regarding Snus and typically of the BBC they didn't allow Fans a HYS section on it. So here in a nut shell is the article. Snus is a tobacco substance which is used by players (in both the Male and Female) game) it comes in small packets like Tea Bags, which a player places it under the tongue and nicotine is slowly released into the Blood Stream, according to players it increases Mental Readiness and helps them relax and manage stress. The thing is it's addictive, it increase the risk of Oesophagus and Pancreatic Cancer and an increase in Heart Disease and mouth lesions. Now the Best Bit. Snus is ILLEGAL to be Sold in the UK, But NOT Against the Law. Well which is it? Surely if it's Illegal in the UK It Should Be Against The Law. Players have stated they purchase Snus from certain shops while others buy it on line. Why aren't these shops closed down? Why aren't these on line outlets also shut down? Truly the mind Boggles. Over 50% of players using this drug (because that's what it is) want to Quit and what do the Higher Ups in the FA do? The Usual ignore it and hope it goes away. It is the opinion of this writer, that it should be Banned and all players should be helped to kick the habit by the Footballing Authorities. I would hope any Notts Players who have become addicted to Snus would approach the Club and ask for help, in fact hopefully any Notts player with a problem with addiction, be it Snus (or any other Drug) Gambling or Alcohol will be helped, which I am sure they would. I would like to hear other Magpie Fans view on the Subject.
