  1. Isn't Tippy Tappy Football Supposed to Be Attractive and Pretty Football? And it's what Notts seem to be Drifting back into, the Only Good Thing this season is the Magpies Defense is Much Much Better and Notts are getting a Huge Rub of the Green. Lets hope Lady Luck Continues to Smile on the Boys in the Black & White Stripes.
  2. Hold On, Hold On. If the Team is Based in Dronfield Derbyshire. How the Hell Can they be called Sheffield FC? The Last time I looked Sheffield was in Yorkshire. Do you Remember the HOOAH Wimbledon Faced when they moved to Milton Keynes, and they wanted to Keep Wimbledon's Heritage and History, the same Club just a Different Name something Fans Still Rage About to the Present Day. So surely that means Sheffield FC No Longer Exist and Notts County are the Oldest Football Club in the World? You Can't have it Both Ways, that Being Wimbledon once they moved to Milton Keynes, became MK Dons, a Club with No Footballing History, But Dronfield FC or Whatever can still class themselves Sheffield FC and still carry the Monika, of the World First Football Club, when Technically the Club Doesn't Exist.
  3. @Robbie You speak many a True Word. Luke Williams was taken on at Swansea in the hope of him Improving the Side, it will be interesting how Long His Service will be Required if the Swans League Position, Doesn't Improve. When he went to Swansea last season they were 14th and they ended the season in the same 14th position. The last time I looked the Swans were 13th in the Championship, but now it seems they've slipped back to 14th So No Real Improvement, it will be interesting how Long the Swansea American (I believe) Owners will put up with this Stagnation, I Don't Think they'll be as Understanding as the Reedtz Brothers are and if there isn't a Dramatic Upturn in Results, Luke could find himself, looking for a New Coaching Position Elsewhere. Unlike Williams who's choice it was to move to Pastures New, I think Macca would have been more than Happy to Remain at Meadow Lane, and see out the New Contract he had signed for the Magpies. The thing is was he Forced Out? Maybe that's to Stronger a word but it seemed Everything was ready for Macca to Remain at Notts, a New Contract, being Given the Captaincy of the Club, when Suddenly Millwall come in with a Derogatory Offer, of £700,000 compared to the £1.5-£2.7 Million fee which had been Banded about in January and it's Accepted. Personally I think there was a Hell of a lot More to Macca's move, than We the Fans have been told. His New Gaffer at Millwall was Stated to have said that Macca was his Number One Transfer Target, if that was the Case, Then Why Hasn't Macca been a Regular first team Member? And Why hasn't Millwall's Game Plan been Adopted more to Play to the Guy's Footballing Strengths? I said at the Time that I Didn't think Macca would be at the Den for that long, and I still believe That. I Reckon He will be Gone in the Off Season or maybe Even let Go in the January Transfer Window.
  4. As Notts prepare to Face Harrogate at the Lane this coming Saturday, there may be another fixture which will be of interest to Magpie Fans. The 26th sees Millwall take on Swansea at the Den. Which of course means Macaulay Langstaff facing his Old Notts Boss Luke Williams. There are of course certain criteria to be met, before such a Contest can come about. Macca will have to be Picked for the Millwall Starting XI. Will the Lions Head Coach give Macca the nod to be his main Striker against the Swans? Or will he be on the Bench? You know Macca will be Itching for a Crack at William's Swansea side, after scoring a Majority of his 70 Notts Goals while playing under Williams while a member of his Notts side. With just a Single goal to his Credit since his move from Meadow Lane Macca will be anxious to get back on the Score Sheet who better than against the Man who did such a lot for his Career? After all William's Man Management Skills certainly had such a Positive effect on Macca, something he stated many times in Interviews, it makes you wonder how Much the Guy misses the Influence Encouragement and Help of Williams on his Footballing Life, and how much this may have had an effect on his Millwall Career. So will Macca come Good on Saturday, and Score against His Old Boss's New Team or will Luke Williams set his Defense up in such a way to Cancel Out Macca's Threat in front of Goal? As a Foot Note. A Final Question If Macca had gone to Swansea instead of Millwall Do You Think He'd Have More Goals To His Name By Now?
  5. @Robbie To be Honest Mate. Notts Don't Have The Fire Power This Season Compared To Last. I only Hope that SM will stick to his Defensive Strategy, but Abandon any thought of Going Backwards in the Slow Boring Build Up From The Back Football. Something I Think We Agree On. It seems this type of Game Plan is Starting to Creep back into the way Notts Play. During one match this Season ( can't remember who against) Bass kicked along Ball over the Top caught the opposition Defense Out and Jatta Scored. Last season Sam Slocombe wouldn't have done that, he'd have rolled the Ball out to a Defender. who would have past it sideways or back to Sam for him to roll it out to the Defender on the other Flank, thus losing the chance Jatta would have Had to Score.
  6. @Piethagoram Don't you think going into Administration is the First Step On The Road Towards Liquidation? And as I've said the Scottish FA Could have introduced other Measures to Punish the Club, rather than handing them a 15 point Deduction. Surely the Scottish Authorities should be trying to Help Cally instead of throwing Up more Hurdles for them to get over? You also state the Club, Paid to buy Success when it's Financially Unsustainable. At the time the owners made their Decision I would think that they Didn't think their Plan was Financially Unsustainable and you can't tell me other clubs wouldn't have made the same Decision, to Buy Success if they had the Financial Backing. Cally owners took a Gamble, which didn't pay off, they're Not the First nor will be they be the Last Owners to take Such a Gamble. An Independent Football Regulator has been mooted about for a Time Now, where are they? Who will appoint them? The Government? What sort of Powers will they have? It could it be that the Premier League Doesn't Want An Independent Football Regulator? Of course the Premier League is a Law unto it's self. Well the Rich Clubs Are. It's as @Robbie says Rules need to be in Place, Written Down to Stop the Big Rich Clubs from taking all the Cream from TV Deals etc Both Transfer Fees and Wages need to Be Capped, plus the Amount of Foreign Players and Coaches being allowed to ply their Trade in English Football, to the Cost of English Playing and Coaching Talent. If Cally (or any Club for that matter) had been given a Budget they had to Stick to they wouldn't have found themselves in the Current Financial Mess.
  7. Not having the Data to hand @Robbie. You've stated this time last Season Notts had let in 25 goals, where as this season it's 12. but how many Goals had Notts scored this time last season compared to this Season? I think it will be a lot more. The Notts defense have tightened up a lot more than last season, but losing a Match 4-3 under Williams compared to 1-0 under Maynard, it's Still a Loss. I get the feeling reading Comments on here from PON Members the Big Worry is the Magpies Slipping back into Dull Tippy Tappy Football of Last Season. It seems Most Fans prefer the more Adventurous Type of Football Maynard got the Magpies playing at the Start of this Campaign. The Real Big Plus (at the moment) is the way Stuart Maynard and the Squad are coping with the Injured Players who are Missing from the Notts Ranks. The Main Question Is, For How Much Longer? The Run of Matches and Tough Training is eventually Going To Take It's Toll on the Remaining Squad Members. Yes we all want to see Didzy start along side Jatta, but with the Greatest of Respect, Eventually Didzy is going to start Feeling the Strain, and his Body may Not be able to Cope. It could be time for Stuart Maynard to Blood Some Of His Youngsters.
  8. @Robbie Do you think the worry of the Risks of Further Injuries are playing their Part in Stuart Maynard's Thinking? He seems to Lost all Interest in the Pattern of Play Notts had the Start of the Current Campaign and is Rapidly heading Back to Playing the Notts "Model" hoping this type of Football will bring the Necessary Amount of Points to Avoid Relegation.
  9. Reading the Comments of other PON Members in this Section. Aren't You All Fed Up Of Continuingly Repeating Yourselves? None of Us are Professional Coaches But We All Can See Where the Magpies are Going Wrong and We continue to Ask Why The Hell Can't Stuart Maynard? The Answer to That maybe look at the Magpies Current League Position, despite the Fact in some Games this Season Where Notts have Ridden Their Luck, the Dice seem to have Fallen in the Magpies Favour. They shouldn't have gotten a Point at either Chesterfield or last night at Barrow, but somehow they Did and as long as Notts Keep getting these points or Sneaking a Win, expect more of the Same Playing Wise. It seemed that Maynard had begun to Mix things up at the Start of the Season and it paid off Handsomely, but for some Strange reason the Notts Head Coach seems to be Going Back To His Old Bad Habits, so what is it going to take him to Switch Back? Have Notts Got To End Up Getting a Right Good Old Fashion Thumping or losing Matches on a Regular basis? When the Fans start getting on Maynard's Back Again? Regarding the Harrogate Match, I Think Another Boring Draw or Perhaps Notts Might Just Scrape a Win.
  10. When Maynard lets his Players play with Freedom, Notts are a Totally Different Team and look capable of Beating any team in this Division. Then It's back to the Notts "Model" pass the Ball Sideways or Backwards or even back to the Keeper. In recent Games Notts have a had a Couple of Narrow squeaks, with the ball being played back to Bass only for the Ball to be latched onto, by the Opposition, fortunately the Magpies have been Lucky Enough, nothing came of these Mistakes. They will Eventually pay for one of these Blunders, it's the law of Averages. Notts make a Rod for their Own Backs once they Revert Back to Tippy Tappy Football, the Fans Can See It Why Can't Maynard and his Staff Also See It?
  11. The £2 Million that Fergie was paid, will add a Substantial Amount towards the Playing Budget? £2Million Really ? They'd be lucky to Buy a New Tea Lady for that Amount of Money. let alone a Half Decent Player. And it's Not the Fact that Alex Ferguson did Nothing for his money. He would of worked towards helping bring in more Money to the Club his Legacy and his Success has a Manager would have helped Impress future would be Investors. And after all it would seem the Glazer's the Majority shareholders at the Club, were happy with Ferguson's Contributuion.
  12. @Piethagoram How is it Fair that there is a possibility that the Club could end up going out of Existence ? When that Club could play an important part in that Particular Community? Surely it would be better for the Scottish FA to Draw up a Financial Plan to help the Club, a Plan which must be followed by the Club to get them back on an Even Financial Keel? Much Better than Putting More Pressure on them, with a Big Points Deduction? Also think on this What Would Have Happened To Notts If The Reedtz Brothers hadn't have Stepped in, after the Alan Hardy Mess at the Lane? You'd be Quite Happy for the Magpies to Drop Down several Leagues or go out of Existence, and have to Come Back as some New Club with a Slightly Different Name, such has Notts Magpies F.C?
  13. Cally Don't Have the Cash to Grease Enough Palms @Robbie.
  14. I Still Don't See The Point Of This. Cally are in Enough Trouble, so the Scottish FA Pour on More Agony, by Docking them 15 Points. Which will Probably See them Relegated. How is this Going to Help their Cause towards Finding A New Owner? Who if one comes Forward has to sort out their Financial Troubles, but Now has a 15 Point Deduction to Contend With. Surely there Must be other Ways to Punish the Club, like Not being allowed to sign players during the next Transfer Window or some such.
  15. A Well Earned Point. I Think That's the Third Time Didzy's Dug Notts out of the Mire with a Late Equalizer this Season. Stuart Maynard as Certainly Installed a Never Give Up Attituded amongst his Squad of Players, there have been Several Occasions this Season when the Magpies have been on the Brink of Defeat, only to Hit Back in a Matches Dying Moments, Something they Would have Not Done last Season. Keep Up The Good Work Lads.
  16. I was talking to My Mate Dave the other day. He told me he had the Fright of his life. Why? What Happened I asked. Well I was in the Kitchen making the Wife a Cup of Tea, when she let out a Horrible Scream. I went rushing into the Bedroom and found her sitting on the edge of the bed. Look she says, pointing to her Right Foot. The Big Toe on the Foot was Missing, In it's place was a Note. Written on the Note it Said Gone To Market.
  17. If this actually happens and is Deemed a Success how long before Top Teams in the Premier League or other European Leagues Follow Suit? This type of Game seems to be adapting to the Template of what the NFL American Football Leagues have been doing with Huge success by playing games at both Wembley and Tottenham's Ground along with holding matches in Germany. The NFL have done this to increase the Profile and Visibility of their Game, where there was some support into a very Lucrative Business over the Following Years and it seems that, European Clubs are returning the Trend by sending their Top Teams to the U.S.A to play Soccer (as they call it) matches. How Long Before We See The Manchester Derby Played at Inter Miami's Ground? With the Match being Televised over the Whole of the States? Imagine the the TV Money this will Generate for each Club. They Won't Give A Monkey's Cuss About Their Loyal Fans Feelings. How about Inter Milan vs AC Milan being played in New York, which has a Large Population of people of Italian Decent based there. This Needs Nipping In The Bud by Uefa, but Will It? Probably Not, Because Money Talks and if Enough of it is Offered, We Fans will be watching Top European Games Being Beamed Direct From The States, In The Not To Distant Future.
  18. Crazy!!!! Then they players will turn round and Say We're Tired. Yeah But NOT Tired Enough To Fly Thousands Of Miles To Play 90 Odd Minutes Of Football, For Thousands Of Pounds In Bonuses. Hypocrites The Lot Of Them. And You Can Guarantee It Will Happen.
  19. Ah @Robbie True Love Ways. Now that is the First Song Me and the Wife Danced to as Man & Wife. In fact it was the Missus that got me into Buddy Holly (despite the fact she's a few years younger than me) the Music of the 50's was always being played when she was living at Home and of course that Music was an influence of what she listened to growing up and even nowadays, it's the same.
  20. Since the Arrival of Pop Music back in the 1950's , songs have in the Main been about Love. Love Won, or Love Lost, the Singers feelings about their Relationships their Hopes and Fears, and what makes it all the More Incredible, back at the Start of the 50's the whole Story would be put to Music and Told in a little under 3 minutes. The Record which began the Musical Revolution is usually the King of Rock n Roll (Elvis Presley, for our younger readers) massive Number One Hit Heartbreak Hotel. That song was inspired by a Suicide Note found by the Police on a Man's body somewhere in America, and reported in a Local Newspaper. The Note it's self carries the Line "I walk a lonely Street". The Lyricist read the report and thought to himself, Now where does this Lonely Street lead to? Of course Heartbreak Hotel, and as they say the Rest is History. In My own opinion the Greatest Songwriter/Performer of the 1950's was Buddy Holly, his volume of work and Hits which he recorded in such a Small Space of time was truly Amazing. Buddy could tell a Story of Love and Loss, his Hopes and Dreams about his Relationship, and all usually in under Two and a Half Minutes. Incredible. His smash hit Peggy Sue (originally Cindy Lou) was dedicated to a Girlfriend of a Band Member of the Crickets, Buddy's backing Group. Before he died Buddy was having some fun Banter with Waylon Jennings a Prodgie of Buddy's . In Jest Buddy said he hoped the Bus Waylon was travelling all the heating would pack up and he'd Freeze. To which Waylon answered Well I Hope That Little Old Plane Of Yours Crashes!! Unfortunately for Waylon it did, Killing Buddy Richie Valens and the Big Bopper. Years later American Singer/Song Writer Don McClean wrote his Classic Hit American Pie, in which the line the Day the Music Died, referring to the Tragic Accident. People often Wonder what Buddy would have gone on to accomplish musically had he lived. In the 60's was the Emergence of the Battle of the Bands. Namely in the UK The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Chart success and Sales wise it was the Beatles, who had 20 Number One Hits. However the Stones win the Longevity Award. The 1970's was my Era, when I started to listen to Music and buy Records. I was more into the Heavy Rock Scene than the Charts, I did however buy Singles. Going back to the Story telling in Songs Terry Jacks had a Hit Single in the 70's titled Seasons In The Sun. A Story of a Friend who Died Of Cancer. Once Punk Arrived I went fully back into Heavy Rock. Once I got married and older my Musical Tastes did mellow slightly, but I've never Entirely abandoned my Rock Roots. And certain Records Do (like most People) Evoke Some wonderful Memories or In a Few cases Not So wonderful. I Don't Listen to Pop Music Nowadays,( like all Previous Generations before me have said in turn) I think Present Day Music is Crap. I mean a Love Song with the Lyrics "I will catch a Grenade for you" Wow, what type of Person would want to Go out with someone, who gets Grenades Thrown at Them? Nope I'm Going Back To Wallow in Nostalgia. How about You?
  21. I'm in Full Agreement with you @Robbie. Of course we British should still Celebrate Nelson's Famous Victory. As We Should Continue To Celebrate All Of British History Not Just War Or Battle Victories. Even Though These Are Extremely Important. Think of all the Inventions that have Benefitted Mankind all over the World, which have come from British Inventors. Never Mind These Wishy Washy Unpatriotic Morons, that are Around to day, trying to Undermine this Great Country of Ours. Stand Proud and Give Thanks that over the Centuries Brave Men and Women have fought and some made the Ultimate Sacrifice to Keep Us Free, from People Who Would See An End To Those Freedoms. A Battle That Still Rages Today.
  22. Some PON Members may remember back in September, that I shared exserts from My Family Tree thanks to a Genealogist , Doctor Tom Cobblers. A Couple of days Ago Doctor Cobblers got back in touch and told me he'd found out, more information regarding my Ancestry, as it was last time I had Nothing to do with this Research, so as last time this Work Is All Cobblers. Historians Among you may Remember that in Ancient Greece the Greek's fought a Battle against the Invading Persians, at Marathon and were victorious, they sent a Messenger back to Athens some 26 miles away, to tell the People of the Greek Army's Victory. Apparently that Guy was an Ancestor of Mine. He ran the Full 26 miles in one go, (the Marathon Race is named after that feat), he ran into the City and Declared "We Won" where upon the Poor Guy Fell Down Dead. The Fact He Was Waring A Gorilla Suit, Didn't Help Matters. A Great Uncle of Mine fought in the Boer War, at the turn of the 20th Century and was present at the Relief Of Ladysmith. In Fact She Was So Impressed With Him, She Invited Back The Following Night. At the end of the 19th Century and the start of the 20th many children had to Forsake their education and go out and get a Job, to help out with putting food on the table and paying bills. My Grandfather (who was born in 1905) was one such Child at the Age of 10, he left School and Got His First Job. That being a Wringer Out for a One Armed Window Cleaner. In 1979 Sir David Attenborough Launched his Epic TV Series, Life On Earth. My Uncle Charlie was part of his Research Team and like other Team Members came up with little Known Facts Regarding the Natural World. Uncle Charlie's claim to Fame was the fact he found out, that Stick Insects Mate Very Very Slowly, In Case Of Fire. So there you are fellow PON Members, should you wish to fined out more about your Ancestry Go For It. But it may be Better to Avoid Doctor Tom Cobblers.
  23. @Robbie No Mate You're Not Wrong. As I've said before Guardiola has never had to Struggle at any Club he's been in Charge of, they have all been Mega Rich and Top Clubs with No or very Little Opposition, in their Respective Leagues. The Guy isn't fit to Shine the Shoes of Managers like Jimmy Sirrel, Brian Clough, Dave Basset who have Got Hold of Clubs and have worked hard and taken Unfancied Clubs and have taken them to Heights that their Owners could Only Dream Of. Cloughie did it with Both Derby and Forest, Jimmy Sirrel of course with the Mighty Magpies and Dave Basset with Wimbledon. And it seems that Phil Parkinson is Now doing a Job at Wrexham. Admittedly he has the Money, but Nowhere near the Amount that Pep has been given at City or over his Career. Plus it was Rumored last Season that should Parkinson Fail to get Wrexham Promoted, to League 1 he'd get the Sack. Something tells Me, Pep's never had to Face That Kind of Pressure. In an Update it would seem Guardiola will be Staying the Etihad, and Raking In his Millions. But Once he's Retired how is he going to Look back on His Career, Yes he's Won Trophies, but has most Fans have said, he's bought His Glory, he's Never Truly Had To Work For It. As you have said Yourself any Coach Worth His Salt could achieve what Pep has done with all His Billions. Want Respect from this Notts Fan Guardiola and Others ? Go and Coach a team currently in the National League, get them Promoted take them to the Premier and win a Trophy, then you can call yourself a Proper Coach. It will Never happen of Course and Pep will look back on his Career and tell people look how Good he was with all the Trophies he's Won and Yet Even He Deep Down will know his Career is A Falsehood.
  24. I was in the Kitchen the other night, the wife was sat at the edge of the table, and she crossed her legs. Sweetheart, I said I've Never Noticed It Before, But You've Got Beautiful Knees. She Smiled at me. Of Course I said My thoughts Are Above Such Things.
  25. Another Tough Match and at their place. I'll be Happy with a Point, but the Magpies are Going To Have To Dig Deep to get anything at Holker Street. And Another Injury from Today's Match is going to make things that Bit Harder to get anything on the Road. Realistically Barrow 2-0.
