  1. Robbie I like your Positivity. But everything at the Lane isn't all Sunshine and Roses and we Mustn't Lose Track that there are the Problems that need to be Resolved. What you've stated in your comment is True however for every Positive there is a Negative. Yes Notts have scored the most Goals in League 2 but they have also had the Most Goals scored against them. The Strike Force is Feared by opponents it used to be and other Teams played Negatively against the Magpies True until Teams learned how to handle the Notts System. Macca is the Leagues Top Scorer but is only one in front of Matt Smith, but hopefully he'll find his scoring touch again and hit the 30 goals target. Notts will comeback stronger than ever Next Season, they might but Recruitment as got be Top Drawer not just the odd decent player joining the Ranks. We the Fans know where the Problems lie at the Lane the Trouble is Do those in Charge Know? And will they do anything about it? Will weak players on Two years contracts be kept on or released? Will there be a New Man in the Dug Out? Positive vibes are all well and Good but the Real World is very different at Notts at the moment. Fans reading this will just think I'm All Doom and Gloom but I think I'm just being Realistic and Honest on the way I see things at the Lane, at this present time. There will be Fans who think and see things differently to me and that's Fine but lets look at things in Reality Not through Rose Tinted Glasses.
  2. My Mates Grandson as just celebrated his fourth Birthday but he can't say Please in Spanish. That's Poor For Four. I went for an audition at our Local Amateur Dramatics group they're doing a Play about a Japanese Prisoner of War Camp. So there was me and seven skinny blokes. Anyway the Director comes over to me and says Who are you supposed to be? A Japanese Prisoner of War. But you must be 17 stone said the Director Ah yes I replied But they only caught me yesterday. I did get a part in that Famous Play The Bare Foot Contessa. I played the part of a Bunion.
  3. That's a Toughie is it because other Teams sign proper Defenders who Know How Defend?
  4. Looking at your Line up Ohh Tommy Johnson their isn't even a Full Bench would there be any harm in filling it with Youngsters? Even if they didn't get the Pitch the Experience of being chosen for the First team would be a Massive Boost to their Moral. It would give any Players with a niggle or illness a chance to recover, without having to play with their injury and make that injury worse.
  5. Piethagoram wouldn't you say Man Management is one of the things that is Lacking at Notts at the moment? Neil Warnock wouldn't be solely in charge of Recruitment as Director of Football he would have other duties and I would think Maynard would Benefit from a mentor like Warnock.
  6. So Me and a couple of Mates were watching one of those Murder Mystery programmes on the tele. Just before the end I said Come on then who do you think did it? I reckon it was was Basil. Why do you say that? Well when they found the body in the herb garden, the victim had a Basil Leaf in his hand. Yeah I agree I think it was Basil to My other Mate said Well it was a good job he wasn't Murdered by his Uncle Dick, God alone would know what they'd have found in his hand then.
  7. Ohh Tommy Johnson Maybe Just Maybe Now Is The Time To Blood Some Of The Young Players? At least they'll Give It A Go. Notts 0-2 Harrogate is my Prediction then again the Magpies may just scrape a 0-0. Happy to be Proven Wrong.
  8. Indeed Robbie Indeed the trouble is it doesn't seem to be a Style that the current Coaching Staff at the Lane can grasp. There are things you must be fed up of repeating in your comments, I know there are in Mine. For instance the type of Football Notts played under Luke Williams worked in the National League, it also worked in League 2 until the opposition found out how to beat Notts style of play and when the Team who was Rock Bottom of the League can Put a Total of NINE GOALS past You over two games then the realization of You Must Be Doing Something Wrong should work it's way into Your Brain and Something Needs To Be Changed. Maynard is the Head Coach so he should be intelligent enough to know when Plan A isn't working then move to plan B or Plan C or D to find out a Winning Formula,. He's been at the Club long enough to know by Now his preferred Team Selection and How to handle different opposing teams styles , pitch conditions and how to produce a Winning Team? How ever it appears Not so that is another reason for him to GO.
  9. Ooh Tommy Johnson and Robbie I see what you mean Clone Coaches Clone Players Clone Game Plan. Could we see this at Notts next season? Maynard AJ You must score Goals. AJ Yes I must score Goals Maynard Defenders You must stop the ball getting into our Box Defenders Yes We must stop balls getting into our Box. Individual skills and Individual Talent Must Be Crushed At All Costs. We Must Only Play The Continental Way. Yes Individual Skills and Individual Talent Must Be Crushed At All Costs. We Must Only Play The Continental Way. Would you want to watch that kind of Football ? I know I wouldn't.
  10. It's all well and good playing attractive Football Robbie but it doesn't work in the Lower Leagues it's has you say, Notts need to mix things up instead of sticking to this Boring possessional stuff. I swear I dozed off for ten minutes at the Lane the other week and when I woke up Notts still had the ball in their own half. But seriously if the Magpies are going to play this kind of Football at least play it at a Decent pace. Another thing Notts need to learn is how to Park the Bus how many times have Notts had a one goal lead or playing for a Draw and allowed the opposition to score late in the game? I keep an eye on the Swansea Results and when Luke Williams first arrived there, the Swans were in 15th place and they still are in 15th place, so his type of Football isn't doing what the Owners hired him for that is an advancement away from the Championship Relegation Zone. So it looks like he'll have to learn to Mix things up as well as the Notts Coaching staff need to do.
  11. It seems it's Rude to ask a Lady her age, so say How much do you Weigh? My mate was telling me that in his younger days he used to live a Korean Girl. She was an amazing Cook and could make a pie from Scratch. Thing is I Loved that Dog.
  12. Piethagoram Why do some Fans seem to think the appointment of Neil Warnock as a Director of Football means he'll take over the running and picking of the Team? That's the Head Coaches job. The Director of Football job is to Provide recommendations on Crucial matters. Such as Players Recruitment Academy Strategy and Coaching Appointments. Plus Physicality of Players as you put it, is something that's needed in League 2 NOT this tippy tappy Chuckle Brothers type of football From Me To You, From Me To You, OOOPs the opposition's got the Ball and Scored. Maybe just maybe if someone like Warnock had been Director of Football he'd had spotted the weakness in certain players, and recommend Not to Hire Stuart Maynard and Notts wouldn't have found themselves in their current Predicament. One thing for sure if the Notts Coaching team carry on their present path playing the type of Football they're playing, the Magpies will end up back in the National League.
  13. I understand your points True Magpie, but it also comes down to ambition of both players would they both be content staying at Notts when they have an opportunity to advance their careers? Firstly Macca he strikes me as a Loyal sort of player, but kicking around in the Lower Leagues is that going to challenge him and spark any ambitions he may have playing at a higher Level? No I don't think so, if Notts had been there or there about's regarding Promotion this season I would say the chances of Macca staying at the Lane would have been much better. Another thing that most Fans seem to have forgotten about, is the players agent and the sort of sway they might have over Macca and What If Luke Williams could convince the Swansea owners that Macca is worth a risk, could you see him turning down a chance to play in the Championship? Like many others I would hate to see Macca go but if he does Good Luck to him a Footballers career is a short one and they need to look towards their Future. Jodi does seem to have hopefully thrown off his injury problems of late and Loyalty is a Big thing but as I've said (as with Macca) a footballers working life is a short one and sorry to say nowadays Money is all that matters to most players, that's not to say Jodi would leave the Lane just for the Sheer hell of it but his family will always come before football and if a bigger club comes in for him offering him more money then he's going to Go. And like any other player he'll want to display his talents at the highest possible Level.
  14. There seems to be a lot of people stating this was An April Fools Joke! If that's the case there must be One Twisted S.O.B working at Adidas.
  15. Last year our local village fete was cancelled because of an outbreak of Tom Bola. Lizard Lizard Lizard, is there a Gekko in here? Then there was the Dog Breeder who crossed a Rottweiler with a Saint Bernard. Really what type of Dog did he get? One that Ravages you then goes and gets you a Brandy. Sitting on the bus the other day, I looked at the bloke sitting next to me. He was my double I was beside myself.
  16. Interesting because Rock Band Kiss had to change the double S in their logo while on tour in Germany for more or less the same reason, the two S's it was stated looked like the double lightning bolt emblem used by German combat units during the War. Despite the fact two members of Kiss being Jewish and they said they had No Problem with the original Logo.
  17. Robbie When Didzy joined Notts he was given a two year deal I believe so next season will be his last (maybe) Should Macca go (which seems likely) it would seem that Cedwyn and AJ will be the strike partnership, however should Scott still not be fully fit for the start of the New Season Didzy will get his chance to cement his place in the starting line up along side Jatta. But even on the bench Didzy can still be an impact player and I would imagine he would be happy just to be in the match day squad, he's coming to the end of his career and he'll know he can't go on forever and the time as come for him, to pass on the Baton to a younger Strike Force. Regarding Chicks he did have a good season last year and his playing time this season has been limited due to injury but one good game like a single swallow does not a summer or season make. Plus I don't think he's the right player to replace Jodi should the New Dad move to pastures New. It's been said in another fans topic there is No room for sentiment and I think Chicks could do a decent job for any National League Side.
  18. Robbie I didn't say Maynard was weak just uninspiring (like Chamberlain during the first months of the War). There are Pro's and Con's for both Micro and Macro types of Management at the moment the small things (micro) need sorting out then the bigger picture (Macro) needs to be looked at because there is No point of running a Business or a Football Club if Goals are not set to aim for and be Achieved. Micro at Notts sorting out the Playing Squad and Coaching Staff. Macro Promotion either automatic or via the Play offs.
  19. The other two of our main Trio who seem destined to depart the Lane come the seasons end Jodi and Dan, of the three I think Dan Crowley will be the one to stay (Perhaps) Jodi Jones maybe in an awkward position, that is Loyalty to a Club who took a risk on him signed him and gave him a chance when it seemed No Other Club would Go anywhere near him or if the right offer came in, a move to another club in the League above and the increase in Money that comes with it and with a New Mouth to feed Money will certainly get the nod over loyalty. If Notts had gotten Promotion or at least been in the Mix of the Playoffs Jodi might have stayed. If he does decided to stay then a long term contract should be offered to him. Dan Crowley another Gem found by the Recruitment team (see they can do well at times) has been excellent this season, but I think asking him to defend is wrong and with him at times being played out of position, if he had a Bad Game in that position an arm round the shoulder and a bit of Luke Williams magic and he'd be ready for the next game. Maynard doesn't or can't do that, maybe because he's still learning his trade to becoming a full time Coach. Despite Dan having a stellar season I'm still not sure if he's on any other teams radar (unlike Macca and Jodie) and that could keep him at the Lane. However should an offer that's acceptable come in for him then Good Luck to the Guy. But if the Club can hold onto him, he's another who should be given an extended contract.
  20. Robbie The Churchill Atlee comparison is a different way to state how things stand at Notts. In that same sort of vein Chamberlain and Churchill were to drastically different leaders and if Churchill hadn't been appointed leader would the Allies beaten the Axis Powers? Much the same do Notts stick with the safe but uninspiring Maynard (Chamberlain) in charge and watch things Crumble or go for a Churchillian Sort of Coach who Inspires motivates and is Ruthless in his decisions? I believe the latter type of Leader is required by Notts and will take the Magpies to the Next Level.
  21. Dog Toffee, that's a New One never heard that before. But I have an Idea what it Means (Ha Ha).
  22. It's been Banded about on Social Platforms that if Stuart Maynard remains at the Lane Notts could end up losing 3000 season ticket holders Maybe or Maybe Not, as well as the off season Silly season will be kicking off about now and all sorts of rumours and speculation will arise. But if there is a considerable drop in the purchasing of Notts season tickets, will this force the Owner to rethink their strategy? Whether it's keeping Stuart Maynard in his position or some other reason i e the cost of a season ticket. What ever happens it is indeed going to be an interesting off season down the Lane.
  23. Robbie Regarding all the Coaching Staff in my opinion All Must Go. Yes somebody did indeed inspire the team yesterday but if it was Maynard, Why hasn't he done it more? The Appointment of a Director of Football should have been made in January, or when Neil Warnock left Aberdeen . I realise I keep going on about Warnock but is there anybody else that could come in? Warnock knows the Club is still held in high regard by Fans and the publicity Notts would gain from such an appointment would be incredible. Plus if Warnock came in there could still be hope for Maynard and disgruntled Fans may give our current Coach and his staff a second chance. What is needed is someone to point out to the Owners that a Director of Football is needed at the Lane, if they intend ( because in the end everything is their decision) to keep Maynard in the Dug Out.
  24. As the season drags on to it's end and the off season approaches all manner of issues need to be resolved at the Lane. Perhaps the Most Important is Recruitment and Transfers, and its in the latter that I wish to Focus one name that springs straight to mind is Macca, the impact this guy has had at Notts is Nothing Short of Incredible Amazing Top Quality etc etc. The accolades from Notts Fans could possibly fill a page on this site. He caught Notts attention with 32 goals for Gateshead, then 42 for Notts during their return to the Football League, he currently sits on 25 this season for the Magpies. These sort of Goal Scoring feats aren't going to go unnoticed by Clubs higher up the Football Pyramid in fact it was rumoured by the media that Macca was on his way to Sunderland Birmingham Derby to name but three Clubs who were interested in obtaining his service,, during the January Transfer Window, and I am More or Less certain that an offer which Notts won't be able to refuse will come in and Macca will be gone from the Lane. As much as that will have a massive effect on the Club and Fans alike surely No one will begrudge Macca a chance to prove his scoring abilities at a Higher Level. Of course I wouldn't expect Notts to give Macca away, the Owners must ask for at least between £2-£3 million plus add ons, appearances , goals scored and a percentage of any future Transfer Fee higher than what the Magpies sold him to any other club for. Then once all Taxes and other fees have been paid etc the remaining monies should be invested in New Players, or what the Owners deem necessary for the Club's Future. Well those are my thoughts now it's up to other PON Members to express their reactions.
  25. GO. Yes he had a tough start to his reign at Notts fixture wise but as shown Nothing since in his coaching abilities to prove he can change things around. The Magpies have Lost to teams that they shouldn't have Lost to and I don't think he's played the same eleven players, in successive matches. He certainly hasn't been helped by New Contracts being handed out to players, who are Not League 2 standard and wasn't helped by practically No new signings during the Transfer Window. He doesn't have the Man Management skills to get the Best out of his players when they are going through a Bad patch such as a Lack of Confidence. I don't think it's a case of Players Not Wanting To Play For Him, it's just they seem unable to put his ideas into practice which is a case of Poor Communication. He'll stay till the season's end then his contract will be/should be Terminated. Maynard like some of his players isn't up to Football League Standard, he's totally Out of His Depth and he must know that himself he's given it a go and he's Failed, so a return back to the NL (Not with the Magpies) would perhaps suite him better.
