Match Discussion: Game 35 - The Railwaymen (H)
You're so right Robbie, Notts need to learn to win Ugly my only worry is that their current game tactic is so ingrained that they won't be able to play any other way. I do so hope I'm wrong. The sign of a Good Team is they can adapt to the way any opposition plan and counter it as Crewe proved. As you stated in another one of your comments there needs to be one Hell of a Shake Up down the Lane in the Summer hopefully by then Cedwyn Scott Matty Palmer and Badge will be back from their long term injuries, and certain players will be let go and others released from their contracts. And both Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley will be offered extended contracts and who knows there may even be a New Man n the Dug Out as well. We'll have to wait and see.

Match Discussion: Game 35 - The Railwaymen (H)
Even more Ammo for the Anti Maynard gang, but after today's performance well who's not to say they don't have some points. This tippy tappy Football tactic was coming unravelled when Williams was still at the Lane and Maynard was bought in to carry on with this tactic and tighten the defence up, well the defence on occasion have not leaked as many goals in some recent matches but the Magpies still lost those games. Is the new Gaffer out of his depth ? Are certain players not up to League 2 standard? It would seem like it, Maynard came in when Notts were facing the top teams in the Division , but that excuse is starting to wear thin for some Fans and only gathering 4 points from the games he's been in charge doesn't bode well for the Gaffer. It would seem Notts forwards have forgotten how to score. This possessional Game Plan Needs To Be Scrapped and a new way to play needs to be introduced, sooner rather than latter or the Magpies decline will continue, Even if it's only going back to the basics. Crewe had three shots on goal and scored each time and were clearly the better side. If this losing streak isn't stopped a lot of Notts Fans are going to start looking for other things to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Weekend chat - Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th February
I remember when I was a little lad I went down to the barbers, it was a right pokey little place with only one chair. There were three blokes in front of me, and after each one had had his Hair Cut the Barber said, Anything for the Weekend Sir ? Two said yes while the third said he was fine. Then it was my turn once I'd had my Hair Cut the Barber said Anything else Young 'un ? I said Yes can I have something for the Weekend ? He gave me a Kite. I Loved that Kite and that's how I'd spend my Weekends.

Weekend chat - Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th February
Interesting you tell us about Friday night being your curry night. Not a Fan myself, but my brother in law and his wife are. They went to a newly opened Indian place and couldn't decide what to have, so they asked the waiter what he would recommend, he suggested Chicken Tarka, well they both heard of chicken Tikka but not chicken Tarka, they asked what the difference was and were told Tarka was a little 'Otter. I'll get my coat

Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
What about the Football Team playing in the Europe for the first time , they're away in Germany, hold their own then in the last three minutes of the game the German Centre forward scores three goals. The Manager had to go to hospital for Jerry Hat Trick treatment. My Mum always told me there's always one weirdo on every bus. But I could never find him. Then there was the time my watch stopped half way through a minute's silence. I couldn't tell anybody, I was stood there for hours. I need to go and have my eyes tested, I never see the wife until I'm on top of her.

Can Notts County make the playoffs?
Do you remember that joker Oliver King he used to write about Notts on Nottingham Live ? He once wrote Notts were owned by Derek Parvis, ring any bells ? Anyway he writes for Football League World now. He seems to think if Notts don't get promoted or make the playoffs it's a disaster . Why ? I've said it before and I'll say it again Notts aren't ready for League 1. It may happen 2024/2025 it all depends on recruitment this Summer. I still think Notts are a side capable of attracting quality players to the Lane and over the past couple or so season's the Recruitment team have unearthed some Top Talent without breaking the Bank. Lets wait and see.

Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
Three old guys sitting on park bench, first old man says it's Windy, his mate says No it's Thursday and third bloke says So am I lets go for a pint. I was once asked in I believed in reincarnation, I said No and I didn't believe in it when I was a Frog. Plural it's Binoculars. While singerly it's Telescope. Every time me and the wife make Love, I put a pound in a glass jar at the side of the bed, then come December , I take all the money out of the jar and buy the wife her Christmas present with money. I'll tell you what, she's Not getting that New Coat She Wanted.

Notts Players/Managers Nicknames of all Time.
Me again. The most obvious Macca for Macaulay Langstaff and then Didzy for David McGoldrick. How about Jodi Electric Jones ? Just made that up myself.

Scott Robertson Reflects on his Notts County Journey So Far
I think this kid has a promising future down the Lane. And it will be interesting to see how he plays along side Matty Palmer, when Matty is back from injury and back in the team.

Notts Players/Managers Nicknames of all Time.
Can we also have Managers nicknames as well Robbie ? Like Big Sam, Mad Dog Martin Allen. Players Ian Charlie McParland Stubsy or Stubbins Brian Stubbs. Hughsey Lee Hughes, there should be more but my minds gone blank, that's me , not a Notts players nickname. The Don, Don Masson. Tommy Johno Johnson.

Stuart Maynard Reflects on Notts County’s Performance and Looks Ahead to Crewe Clash
Regarding those who ask the questions in these interviews I hope they aren't getting paid. The first guy seems Ok but the other two sound like they've just woken up!! Their questions are all the same only put differently, there's no questions about how Jatta's settling in, is SM considering him for a place on the bench ? How does he think his new striker will fit into the Notts set up? It's boring and mundane. The Lass who questioned Stuart Maynard in his first interview after being confirmed as the new Notts head coach sounded professional and asked the right questions.

Messi/ Inter Miami.
Football to the Yanks involves blokes in padded uniforms and helmets, and in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, a bit like Rugby which is played by Real Men.. Have you ever seen the Soccer (as they call it) chants the Yank supporters come out with? There's a comparison on you tube showing the difference between American Fans and English Fans. The most daring chant the Yanks have is I BELIEVE WE CAN WIN . I Kid You Not.

Can Notts County make the playoffs?
I think your right Robbie in regards to Macca and Jodi plus Dan Crowley could be added to the mix, if not this off season perhaps next. I think that's why Notts have bought Jatta, hoping he'll score 20 goals a season to help cover for Macca departure. The trouble is how do Notts replace Jodi ?
-
Messi/ Inter Miami.
It's just like watching Jodi Jones dance his way past three defenders, put a ball in the box for Macca to score. How many times as Messi set up up four assists in one match? You can't tell me the MSL is anywhere as good as the Football in England. Despite ageing Super stars looking for a last big pay check.
-
Goal Line Technology.
How much would it cost? Who would pay for it, the EFL or would the club have to cover the cost? Can you imagine how many times a Referee would have to look at a decision in the Lower Leagues, matches could last up to a couple of hours.

Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
You know when your Love Life gone down the drain, when your making Love to your wife and she puts the Ash tray in the middle of your back. My mate Danny he's a bit of a Lad, spent his life in and out of prison, anyway I met him in a pub the other night, he told me he 'd just robbed a place and he had two pictures in the boot of his car, one worth £1.7 million and one worth£1.9 million, would I like to see them. Yeah Ok I said. In the car park he open's his car boot and I had a look. Danny I said you've robbed an Estate Agents. I went to the Doctor's and he asked for a stool sample, so I've enrolled in a basic woodworking class, the Doc did looked concerned when I said it will probably take a couple of months for me to produce. I'm currently studying my families history. One of my Great Great Uncles knew, the exact day he was going to die. A judge told him.

Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
The Wife comes in after day out Hi Sweetheart Did You Miss Me ? She asked With Every Bullet So Far, I replied I went to the Headquarters of the PDSA, it's such a Tiny Place, you couldn't Swing A Cat round. If the actress Whoopi Goldberg married the Master of Horror Peter Cushing. She'd be known as Whoopi Cushing. My Wife and I were in a restaurant waiting to be served, across the way sat a woman on her own I think she was waiting for someone. Suddenly the woman Farted it was very loud and all the other customers heard it. She turned to the waiter and said Stop That. He looked at her and said Madame which way did it go? I remember the First Time I Ever Saw My Wife. She was outside a shop picking her teeth. Then she went in and Bought Them.

Loan Players Good Or Bad Idea?
Thanks for your thoughts fellow Fans, there are some good points in all your replies and hopefully more Magpie followers will join the debate. Regarding Lewis and Jodi , Lewis was coming to the end of his contract (I believe) and his loan was an ideal way for him to impress at Notts. And Jodi it would seem nobody would give the lad a chance after his A.C.L. injury and such a long time out of the game, it was a stroke of genius by the Notts recruitment team, to see what a fully Fit Jodi Jones could do for Notts and Boy as it paid off Big Time. The Main thing I have against loans is the good loan players benefit Notts in the short term, while Home Grown Talent could be there for a few seasons.

Loan Players Good Or Bad Idea?
Over the forty years I've been following the Magpies, the club have had some good, some bad and some indifferent loan players, and to be honest I wasn't bothered about it at first. However, over the years there have been some loan players who have pulled on a Notts Shirt and have stood out for me, namely, Jack Grealish, Callum McGregor from 2013 and Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates from 2017. I remember Grealish's home League debut, I believe it was against Tranmere Rovers (I stand to be corrected) and the only way the grizzled veteran defenders could stop this kid was to kick trip or stamp on him. However, most of the time opposition players couldn't get near him, and even at time it was clear young Jack had a big future ahead of him. Which has been proven over the following years, England International and a full Trophy Cabinet with Manchester City. Callum McGregor is another talented player who did wonders for Notts, in his loan period he netted 14 goals in all competitions. He also went on to win International Honours this time with Scotland. His Trophy Cabinet with Celtic is bursting at the seams. Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates both came from over the Trent, and both put in some excellent performances in the Black & White Stripes. When Yates was in the team it seemed to bring out the best in Grant, but when Yates was recalled to Forest it seemed to me he lost some of his spark or edge. As of 2024, Grant is at Hearts while Yates still plays for the Reds. Notts County will undoubtedly reap the benefits from these four types of loan acquisitions. The Bad comes about when players are recalled by their parent club in January as in the case of Ryan Yates. This call back to the City Ground caused Bad Blood between the Magpies and Reds. Things have been patched up(?) But (I don't think) another young Forest player has come over the Trent since. The thing for me is, are loans hindering the progress of young Notts players? There are a number of youth players out on loan, playing as it's said Men's Football. But shouldn't the Notts coaching staff be looking to bring these players into the senior squad? Do they hope to play in the first team?!? It may be disheartening for young players being continually loaned out to different clubs season after season, without really being given the chance to play for the first team. After all, I believe (and I stand to be corrected) Curtis Thompson was the last Notts player to come through the ranks and hold down a regular first team place at the Lane. And finally, of course Jodi Jones and Lewis Macari were also loan signings, but in my opinion their circumstances were different. What do you think, fellow Notts fans? What are the advantages and disadvantages of loaning a player? Notts County's head coach Stuart Maynard has given his thoughts on the upcoming game against Crewe Alexandra. sit or stand? away games ????????♂️
I'm in full agreement liampie, there are lots of not only Notts fans that can't stand for the full 90, due to age or disabilities and these Fans shouldn't have their view impeded nor suffer ridicule from more able bodied Fans. Come on Guys remember you to will be Old too one day. And think on this would you like some grotty Herbert giving your old Dad/Mum or Grandad/Nan a hard time because he/she can't stand ?

Can Notts County make the playoffs?
Maybe Perhaps, But if Notts do get into the playoffs would it really benefit the club as a whole? Yes it would give the Fans extra game(s) to watch, but if the Magpies lose and lose Badly, how will this reflect on Stuart Maynard and the rest of his coaching staff ? Lets be honest Notts aren't ready for League 1, an off season where new players better players come in to make an impact to push on and make Notts a force to be reckoned within this League next season is the key for the Magpies future.

Match Discussion: Game 35 - The Railwaymen (H)
Notts must win this game. The Magpies have already lost to many matches on home soil and another defeat just wont do. If Notts do loose then in some quarters of the Notts so called fan base will want to pour more scorn on Stuart Maynard, and the more, the team looses the more the band of Anti Maynard Fans will grow. The biggest problem at Notts is over the last 18 months Magpie Fans have been used to the team winning matches, now in the world of the EFL Notts are finding out that the tactics that held them in good stead in the National league Do Not Work in League 2. Maynard is doing his best and the defence is doing better, but winning matches I'm afraid is the Be All and End All in this League.
