  1. On the night before Christmas This poem was written by Caroline Wells in 1900 but it could just as easily fit today. .............. On the night before Christmas there’s something amiss With your placid, habitual slumber; You suddenly find that your overworked mind Is harassed by cares without number. You are stirred by the thought that the gifts you have bought Are less than your friends have expected; And your heart is beset by a nervous regret That the things were not better selected. You cannot lie quiet, your brain’s in a riot, And fears for the dinner oppress you; The goose may be tough or the cook in a huff, Or the children’s behavior distress you. You can’t get your breath, you’re worried to death Lest the weather may turn out unpleasant Your eyes ache and burn as you toss and you turn And think over every one’s present. That Dresden affair, expensive and rare, Is really quite wasted on Dora; And you’re tempted to wish you had given the dish To Alice or Ethel or Flora. Dick never will look in that beautiful book, So you think you’re transfer it to Maisie; Then you’ll have to give Dick that ebony stick – But by this time you’re just about crazy. As you tumble and roll, a feat thrills your soul Lest some one left out should feel slighted. Though you doubt if you’re able to seat round the table The guest you’ve already invited. The cream may fall short – there’s only a quart — And some one may keep dinner waiting; Then the soup will get cold, and Edward will scold, And give the late guests a berating. You flounder and sigh – you’re ready to cry – Coy sleep won’t allow you to win her; Oh, the night before Christmas holds nothing of bliss, If you’d asked your relations to dinner.
  2. What’s your favourite Christmas Film? I’m a fan of most of the Scrooge films I love the story Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and used to read it every Christmas when I was younger. My favourite Scrooge film is the 1970 Musical version starring Albert Finney, we watch it every Christmas. Lets hear your favourite Christmas Film.
  3. Ok, the big day is nearly here, so what’s your favourite Christmas song of all time? I think mine has got to be Fairy Tale of New York by The Pogues featuring Kirsty McColl. Whats yours?
  4. I see that Steve Cooper has finally been sacked by our “friends” across the river. I’ve been impressed by the amazing support he’s been getting from the reds fans. I hear that Nino Espirito (or whatever his name is) will be taking over, it’ll be interesting to see how that goes. Thoughts?
  5. On Friday Notts travel to Stockport to take on another County. How many links between the two clubs can we name. I’m going for the easy one of Kyle Wootton who is banging in goals for them at the moment. How many more can we name?
  6. I’m pleased to hear this, for my age I consider myself reasonably fit but I do struggle sometimes when I get a ticket near the back of the stand. I remember when I could bound up those steps no problem. Well done Notts. ????

  9. You’ve stolen my thunder @CliftonMagpie I was going to start a thread later in the week about plans for Christmas. You are absolutely right about Christmas being a sad time for some, it’s a time traditionally when families get together and when someone is missing it naturally leaves a hole that will never be filled again and that is the case for me and I know for other people on here. So folks when your enjoying your festivities with your families around treasure every moment because it could be the last Christmas before you lose someone that won’t be there next time. I will offer the same invitation to anyone that wants to talk, please message me, I am a trained volunteer and help to run a support group for people bereaved by suicide after a tradegy in our family. I don’t have all the answers but I’m a good listener. This year my son and his family including two of our grandchildren will be coming to our house for Christmas Eve until the day after Boxing Day, we will have a fun time but there will be an empty chair again this year. Christmas Eve we will have a buffet with some games etc., Mrs. T and myself will cook the turkey Christmas Day and on Boxing Day our son and Daughter in Law will cook a lovely roast beef dinner. Fun anf laughter will be the order of the day. @CliftonMagpie what will you be doing this year?
  10. I haven’t seen any calls for Luke to be sacked but I’m not surprised some football fans are very fickle and some are just thick! I honestly wouldn’t give them the time of day let alone spend time explaining why he shouldn’t be sacked. It’s totally ridiculous.
  11. Thanks @CliftonMagpie come on everyone get your guesses in it’s getting a bit bored ng winning every time.
  12. Luke is one very angry manager in this interview and rightly so, you can tell the passion he has for the club when he shouted himself hoarse trying to change the outcome of the game.
  13. Tactics apparently @super_ram
  14. What’s all that about @Piethagoram and why have you put a picture of @super_ram
  15. Thought I’d try deluxe waffle, no stars but it lets you carry on to try and solve it, I did it in 28 moves. #deluxewaffle82 X/5 (28) ???????????????????????????? ????⬜????⬜????⬜???? ???????????????????????????? ????⬜????⬜????⬜???? ???????????????????????????? ????⬜????⬜????⬜???? ???????????????????????????? wafflegame.net

  19. Neil Warnock was a great manager for us and proved to be a great manager for a lot of other clubs too. Thats a great bit of footage.
  20. I think he’s got some kind of position there, Mark Stallard said on the radio he had been chatting to him before the match and catching up.
