Weekend plans 23rd-25th June
We had a lovely bbq this afternoon, although the chicken didn’t quite work out as planned and had to be finished in the oven, burgers and kebabs were good though. It was great to get the family together.

Do You Have a Favourite Seat?
When I used to visit my mam in the old folks home, all the residents had their own seats and would get very uptight if anyone else sat in them, before she developed dementia she would say “don’t sit in that seat it’s Mrs, Johnson’s” or whoever. So I had to find a seat that wasn’t “owned” by someone. ????

England Kit Collecting
I don’t recall ever buying an England replica shirt, I’ve bought T-shirts with the England badge on but I think replica shirts are a bit of a rip off but then again I’m a tight wad. ????

Lost Shops of the Past
I haven’t seen all the video but I get the jist, indeed shopping in actual shops seems to be a dying thing nowadays, even I’m guilty of buying stuff online at Amazon etc., and getting groceries delivered by Tesco. As a boy I used to go with my mam to Victoria Centre and get fresh veg, meat and fish from the market, if I’d been good mam would buy me an apple or banana. I also remember our local beer off, for youngsters who don’t know what a beer off is, it’s a shop that would sell normal groceries but also licensed to sell beer and liquor for consumption off the premises, our corner shop even had a hand pump, my dad used to take a jug and the shopkeeper would fill it with beer for him to take home. Other shops I remember are MFI which was a shop that sold flat pack furniture (similar to IKEA), the big coop store on Parliament street sold everything, they had lifts to different floors with a lift operator who would ask you which floor and push the button for you, Woolworths of course was a favourite, especially the sweet counter, Redmayne and Todd’s was on the corner of canal street and Carrington Street and sold Sports equipment, our street had a sweet shop run by a dear old lady called Mrs. Wright, she lived in the back room and would come into the shop when someone opened the door which rang a bell, we used to beg a penny off our parents and get a penny mix of sweets. There was a shop that sold school uniforms of all the Nottingham Schools and jackets with the school badge on, I think it was called Price and Beale, it was the only place you could get school uniforms in those days. When I grew up I had to get a suit and my dad took me to Burtons Tailors shop where was measured and got a suit for an interview, I paid with an account into which I paid 5 shilling a week (25p in todays money). I’m sure there are lots more I can remember, I may come back to this topic.

Do You Have a Favourite Seat?
Yes I’ve got my armchair which rocks, reclines and swivels and has a pop out foot rest. Everyone in the family knows it’s my chair and woe betide them if they forget, the grandkids did like to play in it when very young toddlers but soon learnt it was “grandads chair”.

TV horror/sci-fi series 'From'
I haven’t started watching it yet so no spoilers please. @AmericanPie says it’s the same people who made Lost and I really enjoyed that so looking forward to seeing it.

Weekend plans 23rd-25th June
So is anyone doing anything exciting this weekend? After a week of birthday celebrations, a night in a hotel in Buxton, several meals out and pub visits etc., this weekend will be quiet for me. Although having said that our son and family are coming on Saturday and we are doing a bbq, I want to try “beer can chicken” apparently you stick half a can of beer up the chickens rear end and stand it up on the bbq, the beer marinades the inside of the chicken and makes it nice and moist as it cooks. It’ll probably be a disaster. ???? I’ll do another 5k park run first though so I can have a few pints with the bbq. Sunday nothing planned so far.

Vicky McClure
Thank you @CliftonMagpie it was over 20 years ago so not recent but the memory still hurts as I said it is the cruelest of diseases and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Wordle 734 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜????⬜⬜???? ????????⬜⬜???? ???????????????????? An average 4 today- Notts County’s Permanent Signings: Who’s Your Favourite?
You are right @JohnTheBost I’d got it in my head he was a defender for some reason.- Notts County’s Permanent Signings: Who’s Your Favourite?
Feel sorry for Will Randall can someone vote for him please, poor defenders are often overlooked but they do an important job too. If you’re reading this Will we love you too. ????- Fixture list announced
I’m not tooo bothered about who we play or when I’m just really pleased to be playing back in the league again.- Carabao Cup 1st round fixture announced
Should be a good game.- Fill in the Blanks
I remember it well as you say the contrast in style of play was amazing, really good attacking football under Mick walker.- Has Notts forgotten about Junior Morias?
When Morias signed I thought they said he needed time to get fit so possibly that’s why he hasn’t had much game time but as others have said it’s hard to see where he’ll fit in at the moment, we’ll see but I’m sure Luke Williams will know what plans he has for him.- Fixture list announced

Wordle 733 6/6 ⬜????????⬜⬜ ⬜????⬜????⬜ ⬜????⬜⬜???? ⬜????⬜⬜???? ⬜???????????????? ???????????????????? Took that one to the wire. Phew!- Notts County’s Permanent Signings: Who’s Your Favourite?
I’ve gone for David McGoldrick for the sheer romance of the story, the way he talks about playing for his first club, he’s a Notts supporter and turned down more money to join us.- Dan Crowley: The Journey of an Individual Player - ‘I’m My Own Player'
It’s interesting that Dan Crowley highlights one of the reasons he signed is our style of play, other new signings have said the same thing along with the fact that Notts are on an upward trend, it’s great to hear, I’m looking forward to seeing Dan play for us.- NottsLoyal says hello
@NottsLoyal Hi and welcome to PoN, thank you for introducing yourself, you’ll will find a very friendly group on here, make yourself at home you’re going fit in just fine.- Fill in the Blanks
Oh my goodness yes, remind me @Ohh Tommy Johnson was it against Tranmere? I think we won 5-0 am I right?- Belated promotion celebrations “not feasible”
Just to be clear it’s Notts County FC who are saying the celebration is no longer feasible because players will be starting training soon. The Council would have gone ahead with a belated celebration. I don’t blame the club for turning it down there should have been a celebration when it happened at the end of the season. - Wordle
