  4. https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/derby-county-david-mcgoldrick-transfer-8528241 Paul Warne said David McGoldrick's exit from Derby County was a "spiritual" decision as he opened up on the striker's move to boyhood club Notts County. McGoldrick turned down the offer of a new deal with the club to join the Magpies last weekend with the forward penning a two-year contract at Meadow Lane. The former Sheffield United striker was a huge favourite at Pride Park but the lure of returning to the club which kickstarted his career proved too difficult to resist in a move that was romance over finance. McGoldrick was at Wembley to watch the Magpies regain their place in the Football League and he returned 19 years after his departure. Warne said he had been trying to convince the Derby's player of the season to stay since the turn of the year but after much deliberating, the forward decided to head home. "I am sorry to see him go," Warne told Rams TV. "Since January I've been encouraging him to sign a contract. He will tell you this but he just wanted to get to the summer to see where he is at. "At one stage I wasn't even sure he was going to play on. He had an amazing season. I wanted to keep him. We had a conversation at the training ground for about three hours about two to three weeks ago now. "He wanted more time to think about it, but we had to put a deadline on it because it couldn't keep dragging out for either team in fairness. It wasn't a financial thing. It was a spiritual thing to play for his boyhood club. "If Derby fans played for Bristol City and Derby came in, you'd want to go and play for Derby. It was the same for Didzy.
  5. My mother had dementia in the last years of her life it was awful to see her deteriorate into someone who didn’t even know her own son, I used to visit her and just hold her hand that’s all I could do, she had no idea who I was, it was awful. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
  6. @liampie Vicky’s Grandad hasn’t got dementia he’s in his 90s but he’s very much got all his marbles. It’s lovely to see his relationship with his granddaughter, the sad parts of the film are as she takes him to France and he talks about what they went through as soldiers landing on the beaches of Normandy, it’s unimaginable. Then they go to the war graves and see the names of thousands and thousands of his compatriots who died. So sad. Going back to Vicky her award from the King is well deserved for her dementia work unlike the awards handed out by Boris to his mates who have done nothing but be his mate.
  7. @liampie Your Dad’s a r*d? I’d leave home mate……… oh you have.
  8. I watched “My Grandads War” which was very moving and a great peace of television, her Grandad is a Notts fan and that’s why Vicky is also. I urge anyone to watch the programme it’ll be on iPlayer and if you don’t get a lump in your throat and watery eyes there’s something wrong with you.
  9. Oh yes he was very vocal as I remember he’s definitely a closet pie.
  10. I forgot to do this yesterday but made up for it today. I’ve excelled myself. Wordle 728 3/6 ⬜????⬜????⬜ ????????⬜⬜⬜ ????????????????????
  11. I tend to watch most of their games if I can, friendlies are less likely to be watched if I’m doing something else. I certainly would watch competitive games like the Euros or World Cup no matter who they were playing.
  12. While we are on the subject of @super_ram I hope he doesn’t mind me telling a funny story about him. I think it may have been the first time I’d met him in person, @Chris arranged for PoN to have an executive box at a Notts match, I was a moderator on here at the time and was invited along with other mods and of course @super_ram. I honestly can’t remember the match but it was a lovely way to watch a match @PTID1862 smuggled some real ale in and we were having a good time. During the match the ref made a controversial decision and @super_ram was so incensed he shouted at the ref even though we were in a box, as he shouted the bottom set of his false teeth shot out and landed on the table, quick as a flash he put them back in, I politely pretended not to notice and I don’t think anyone else did either, so @super_ram your secret is safe with me.
  13. Ok hang on……… oh yes it fits perfectly. ????
  14. There’s only one person he was referring to and the sentiment is mutual.
  15. I thought he did well and was surprised when the subbed him, the commentators were very complimentary of him. Well done Jodi.
  16. Jim obviously brings a lot of experience to the team which will be needed now we have stepped up a league. His presence in the dressing room is also important when he isn’t on the field.
  17. I’m the more handsome pea, @super_ram is one of those hard shrivelled up ones.
  18. As we should have been in Corfu we are treating the next few days as a sort of holiday, eating good food, drinking more than normal (we’ll I am anyway) , going out etc. Today we went to a garden centre and bought some plants and had a meal in the cafe. Tonight we are having Rib Eye Steak and chips for tea. Tomorrow we are going to a local Indian restaurant with our son and family. Not sure about Sunday yet. Anyone else doing something exciting this weekend?
  19. That’s a great post @Chris your dad obviously wants to support his lad in everything he does the same as any father would, I’m sure he is proud of what you have achieved. @super_ram is a great asset to the site for which we should all be grateful. He’s also good for winding up as well. I love the banter I have with him.
  20. This is absolutely wonderful news, I'm so pleased he has committed to us, I can wait till the season starts.
  21. Lol, we’d just got back from a drive and I was checking Twitter when it popped up otherwise you’d have got in first. Better luck when Nemane is announced. ????
