I’ve mentioned before that on another non football forum I use we have a politics section which is hidden unless you ask to subscribe to it and anyone who wants to discuss politics can do so without upsetting anyone else, it works well.

I know you’re all dying to know how Nev and his Forest mate got on in the latest episode of Pointless. Well sadly they failed in the second round mainly due to Nev’s Forest supporting mate who gave answers with high points meaning Nev had to get a low points answer to get through, he managed it for the first round but not the second. This leaves them with one more appearance to try and win the trophy and the prize pot. Come on Nev you can do it, ditch the Forest supporter.

Made me laugh that Forest spend all season moaning about VAR decisions and the vote in favour of keeping it.

Well I like it anyway. Nev and his mate got to the head to head but we’re knocked out so they come back again on the next one I watch I hope he talks about Notts again.

I am lucky enough to have seen Notts in the top flight (the then Division 1) but sadly although I followed their fortunes avidly I didn’t go to a lot of games because in those days money was very tight and I just couldn’t afford it every Saturday. So I would love to have that chance again and see us playing the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool etc., I can’t imagine any fan wouldn’t want that. Having said that I’ve also seen Notts within a whisker of going out of existence more than once so I am just really grateful that I even have a club to follow.

I’ve just been watching Pointless from a few days ago and one of the contestants called Nev is a Notts County fan his partner in the quiz is a Forest fan. It’d be great if Nev was a PoN member.

Those brave young soldiers some as young as 18 must have been terrified as those landing crafts reached the beach and the ramps went down. Some were mowed down immediately I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like. We have a lot to thank them for and we should never forget what they did for us.

Yes it does seem to be the modern way in football to appoint a head coach rather than a manager. It seems with Notts for instance the owners pick a head coach that will coach the players to play in the way the owners would like football played, the recruitment team select targets they think will be best suited based on data and it’s the head coaches job to use those players how he sees fit. In some ways it takes a lot of work off the head coach so he can concentrate on coaching the squad instead of having to deal with player negotiations, buying and selling etc. like the old fashioned managers did.
