  1. Nemane’s goal was almost comical. It has to be the worst bicycle kick goal that I have ever seen go in. That being said, Notts usually scores good goals and this one was still beautifully created.
  2. He didn’t seem his usual cheerful self. I enjoy his interviews because he leaves everything open. While I understand the opinions expressed above mine, I don’t think there’s any need to be overly critical. Williams has always spoken like a fan and, while he may not worry about fixtures being changed, kick-off times or talk of promotion, he clearly cares about the club.
  3. I'm not sure if I have too much free time on my hands, but I recently relocated from a Sheffield-based publishing company to work for a content creation company in Manchester. My move will make it easier for me to attend games, as I previously had an apartment in Leeds when I was studying at university. During yesterday's game, I couldn't help but notice that there weren't enough chants for the players. I found myself reflecting on the discussion I initiated about reducing the pressure going into the playoffs. I've come up with three chants, but I'm not sure if they're great ideas or if they'll catch on. Nevertheless, I'm interested to see if they'll be sung, and I hope no one will steal credit for them. Ha ha. To the tune of "When the Saints Go Marching In": Oh Cadwyn Scott, he wears the black and white, Number 19, with pace and might, Scored some goals, he's quite a sight, Oh Cadwyn Scott, he's dynamite! From left to right, he'll run all night, Defenders shake with fright, He'll score a goal with all his might, Oh Cadwyn Scott, what a sight! Notts County's number 19, He's in his prime, a goal-scoring machine, With his skill and football mind, Oh Cadwyn Scott, you're one of a kind! To the tune of "La Bamba": Roberto Chicksen, he's our left-back star, Runs down the wing, he's faster than a car, With his left foot, he hits it hard, Roberto Chicksen, our superstar! He's got the skills, he's got the pace, He's always first to win the race, When he takes a free-kick, watch it soar, Roberto Chicksen, we want more! In the black and white, he's a sight to see, Defenders quake, when he's running free, He's got the moves, he's got the flair, Roberto Chicksen, we'll always be there! So come on County, give us a show, With Roberto Chicksen, we'll never say no, From the back to the front, he'll take us far, Roberto Chicksen, our superstar! To the tune of "Guantanamera": Luke Williams, he's the man in charge, Leading Notts County, oh so large, With his tactics, he'll take us far, Luke Williams, our shining star! He knows the game, he knows it well, With his team, he'll always excel, We'll sing his name, with pride we tell, Luke Williams, he'll lead us well! From the dugout, he'll guide our play, To victory, he'll show the way, With his passion, he'll light the flame, Luke Williams, he's why we came! So let's cheer on, with all our might, For Notts County, we'll fight and fight, With Luke Williams, we'll reach new heights, Notts County, we're black and white!
  4. I strongly believe that safety at sporting events should always be a top priority. The Hillsborough disaster is a tragic example of what can happen when safety measures are not taken seriously. The inquiry into the disaster found that overcrowding, poor stadium design, and inadequate policing were the main factors that led to the loss of so many lives. It is heartening to know that the Taylor Report was published in the aftermath of the disaster. The report made significant recommendations to improve stadium safety regulations. These included the removal of terraced stands, the introduction of all-seater stadiums, and the implementation of strict crowd management and safety protocols. I believe that these recommendations have played a crucial role in preventing similar tragedies from occurring in the future. While some fans may miss the standing areas, the introduction of all-seater stadiums has undoubtedly made sporting events much safer for everyone involved.
  5. The suspect of the leak has been arrested in the US. Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old US Air National Guardsman, has been apprehended. He appears to have leaked the full documents after failing to generate attention in his Discord group, where he was supposed to release snippets of the information to a small group. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/apr/13/pentagon-leaked-documents-suspect-arrested
  6. Points aren't needed, we are strong enough to win games allowing key players to rest. Provided Luke Williams doesn't drop Macaulay Langstaff, I think anyone else, including Ruben Rodrigues is fair game.
  7. I liked Calvin Miller, I thought he did great at left back but he wasn't the same player elsewhere. When he didn't sign and ended up at Chesterfield, I thought he would be a big signing for them but he ended up being nothing more than average. It didn't look the same player when he played against us afterwards, I think he made the wrong call then but the decision doesn't seem to have caused any issues for him as this was a good move for him back earlier in the year.
  8. I understand where George Claydon is coming from. Everyone will have an opinion on football, and that is what makes it so captivating. Sometimes, two strikingly similar comments can both be right in their own way. However, I have to agree more with what has been outlined by the PON gaffer, @Chris. He's hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. In my opinion, Notts used a high defence as a means to combat Wrexham's playing style. However, they had changed their own style going into the game, and those overhead balls towards Mullin looked dangerous early on. While Mullin is not the slowest striker, imagine if a quicker one was up top. It would have been lethal and much harder for the defence to cope. I have seen some fans question Jim O'Brien's presence in the starting line-up, yet I felt his experience gave Notts a calm head in midfield. He was one of the few players trying to instruct the team to calm down and pick out the right pass. Wrexham pressed in such a manner that even Matt Palmer struggled to be himself. I thought his passing was subpar, the worst I have ever seen from him. John Bostock did well to win balls back, but he often made the wrong decision about whom to pass to next. He also under-hit passes on a number of occasions, leading to breaks by Wrexham. The biggest issue is the three-man defence. The lack of support from the wing-backs was noticeable, and I don't recall seeing the defenders communicate in a way that suggested they were working together. While I do not believe Kyle Cameron fouled Paul Mullin enough for the penalty, he was in cloud-cuckoo-land at times. I feel he should have been the person to say that the defence needed to work more together. They were so narrow that loads of space were often seen behind, in front, and to the sides. How do you defend that without losing your head?
  9. It has been interesting to read the views expressed. I do not believe any action should be taken at this point, nor do I think it would benefit the game if the National League were to fine or suspend Ben Foster. The officials are at fault for not following the rules. I don't like speculating, but Ben Foster recently shared a video podcast discussing his penalty save technique. It seemed like a response to negative comments about him being off the line, which I hadn't heard anyone else mention. Quite ironic with how special the podcast is being worded by Fosters team. It is reassuring to hear them openly defend Cadywn Scott, as it was a good penalty. However, they did touch upon something, @DangerousSausage mentioned. While saying, it was outright predictable may not be entirely accurate, I do understand what was meant. You may wish to check out the podcast.
  10. I couldn't agree more with the sentiment that there should be more promotion and relegation places between the National League and League Two. The recent match that was described as 'the most important match in the history of non-league football' has really brought this issue to the forefront. Football is not just a sport, it's also a business, and having more promotion and relegation places would mean more interest and excitement for fans. It would also give more clubs the chance to climb the ladder and compete at a higher level, which is what the sport is all about. It's interesting to note that automatic promotion and relegation between the EFL and non-league football has only been around since the 1986/87 season, and there was only one promotion and relegation place until 2003. Before that, the Football League was effectively a closed shop, with only a complicated 're-election' system in place for clubs to gain entry. This system led to decades of stagnation and lack of transparency, with existing league clubs perceived to be excluding those from outside. It's clear that changes were needed, and the introduction of more promotion and relegation places has been a step in the right direction. I believe that more promotion and relegation places would be beneficial for the sport and its fans. It would give more clubs the chance to compete at a higher level and make the sport more exciting and interesting. It's time to move forward and embrace change, rather than sticking with outdated systems just because 'that's the way it's always been'.
  11. I appreciate Luke Williams' update on the absence of Aden Baldwin and Richard Brindley during the recent match against Wrexham. It was disappointing not to have them in the team, especially since they had played well in the previous match against Wealdstone. It's good to hear that the reason for their absence was not due to any serious injury and that they are likely to be back for the upcoming game against Woking. I always want to see the strongest possible team on the field, and it's encouraging to know that the defensive pairing will be available for selection again soon. It's clear that injuries can be a setback for any team, but the fact that the players are recovering and getting back to full fitness is reassuring. I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in the upcoming fixture, and I'm hopeful that they will be able to contribute to a positive result for the team.
  12. I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Luke Williams and Macaulay Langstaff have scooped the Vanarama National League monthly awards for March. Williams has been a fantastic manager for Notts County, leading the team to victory time and time again. His tactical brilliance and ability to motivate the players have been key to our success. Langstaff, on the other hand, has been an absolute powerhouse on the pitch. His incredible skill and ability to score goals have made him a fan favourite. It’s no surprise that he has won awards for his performances; he truly deserves it. I am so proud of both Williams and Langstaff for their achievements. They have worked hard, and it’s great to see them being recognised for their efforts. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Notts County with these two at the helm. What do you think about Williams and Langstaff winning these awards? Do you think they deserved it? How do you think this will impact Notts County’s performance in the upcoming game this weekend against Woking? https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/2023/april/williams-langstaff-monthly-awards-110423/
  13. You heard it here first, straight from The Skipper’s mouth: Notts County will win 5-0 against Woking! To be frank, I do think Notts will respond in a positive fashion. The times we were defeated this season, it's been away games where it took a little time to bounce back to winning ways. Every other time at home, it's been pretty straightforward. I think Woking are doing very well to sit third in the National League; I don't think anyone would have predicted that. And whilst the game is going to be a challenge, this time the pressure will be solely on the away team. There's zero need for points at this stage. Wrexham won't slip up; that's my personal belief. We gave them a good scare; we went toe to toe, but now it's about preparation for the playoffs and ensuring that chance of promotion this season isn't missed. Woking will want to secure third place; I don't want that position to be fulfilled by Chesterfield.
  14. The metaverse theory and time travel are two fascinating concepts that have captured the imagination of many. The metaverse theory proposes a virtual reality where users can interact with computer-generated environments and other users, while time travel explores moving through different points in time. Both concepts have been popularised in science fiction and have sparked many debates and discussions. It would be interesting to see how these two ideas could intersect and what implications that could have for our understanding of reality.
  15. Hello @Dry Nelson Ray, I’m not sure if any other Wrexham fans have ever joined us here. What made you decide to come on? It’s welcoming to see when fans of other clubs come on and offer a different insight. Don’t be put off from joining in; we’re a very friendly group of Notts fans.
  16. The concept of the multiverse has been a topic of discussion in scientific circles for several decades now. It is an idea that suggests the existence of multiple universes beyond our own, each with its unique physical laws and properties. While this theory has not yet been conclusively proven, it has gained traction in recent years as scientists continue to explore the mysteries of the cosmos. So, what is the multiverse theory, and why is it such a big deal? For many, the idea of a multiverse offers a compelling answer to some of life's biggest questions. Is there life beyond our planet? Is time travel possible? What happens after we die? The multiverse theory suggests that these questions may have answers in other universes, where the laws of physics may be vastly different from our own. However, there are also many who are sceptical of the multiverse theory. They argue that it is a highly speculative idea, with little evidence to support it. Others have suggested that the concept of a multiverse is unfalsifiable, meaning that it cannot be tested or proven through scientific inquiry. So, where do you stand on the multiverse theory? Do you believe that it could be the ultimate answer to life's biggest questions, or do you think that it is a flawed concept that should be approached with caution? What implications might the existence of multiple universes have for our understanding of the universe and our place within it? Let's discuss! https://www.livescience.com/multiverse

  18. Notts County's recent match against Wrexham was a nail-biting affair, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for the coveted National League title. However, many fans have been left wondering whether Notts' performance was impacted by nerves, as they failed to score the victory after leading 1-0 and ultimately lost the match. With promotion to the English Football League at stake, it's natural for players to feel the weight of expectations and pressure to perform on such a big occasion. But what can fans do to help keep their team calm and composed, and what strategies should the head coach, Luke Williams, employ to ensure his players remain focused on their ultimate goal? In this discussion, we'll explore the impact of nerves on Notts' recent performance against Wrexham, and what fans and the coaching staff can do to help alleviate this pressure. We'll also consider the wider implications of such nerves on the team's promotion hopes and strategies that can be employed to keep the players focused on the task at hand. Join us in sharing your thoughts and insights on this crucial topic as we analyse the role of mental preparation in Notts County's push for promotion. Also, check out the gaffer's discussion about leading into the playoffs and how you believe they should be approached, such as whether certain key players need resting.
  19. Macaulay Langstaff's recent record-breaking season, scoring an impressive 41 goals, has catapulted him into the national spotlight and earned him the nickname "Non-League Haaland". However, with such success comes speculation about his future at Notts County. Will he be the key to unlocking the Magpies' potential and help take the club to the next level, or will his record attract the attention of other clubs and make it harder for Luke Williams to retain him? In this discussion, we'll explore the potential impact of Langstaff's success on Notts County and what the future may hold for this talented striker.
  20. The sudden passing of Notts County's chief executive, Jason Turner, at the age of 50, has had a significant impact on the club. Turner had been in the role since March 2016 and had devoted himself to the club. He was described as an outstanding CEO who was respected across football. What kind of legacy has Jason Turner left behind at Notts County? Turner, who had been the club's chief executive since March 2016, dedicated himself to Notts County. His unexpected death has undoubtedly affected the club greatly. It is worth exploring the impact he had on the club during his tenure. What kind of changes did he bring to the club, and how did he leave his mark? Did he set the club on a path to success, or was his legacy more about the culture and values he instilled in the club? How will Notts County continue to honour his memory and his contributions to the club moving forward? Below is the memorial post, for comments and rest in peace messages.
  21. I observed this image that was shared on the Pride of Nottingham Facebook page by a Notts fan. Even though the result cannot be altered, the picture communicates a lot and can be a topic of discussion. Do you believe that if the penalty was taken again? Could have made a difference in the long term? Alternatively, do you think that a tie was still inadequate? Image shared by Luke James on Facebook. Luke's comment: "The linesman is meant to stand and look along the line. Maybe he forgot what his job was?" My personal view is that the referee made a good decision by awarding the penalty. However, Wrexham fans believe they should have had two penalties themselves. Firstly, there was the slightest touch by Kyle Cameron on Paul Mullin, and then Sam Slocombe's supposed trip where again Paul Mullin ran into him clearly outside the box but decided to throw himself to the ground in our penalty box. However, judging by this picture, the referee failed to notice that Ben Foster was off his line. The assistant official should have been watching Foster more closely. In the World Cup and Premier League, penalties with off-the-line keepers are often retaken, with keepers sometimes being issued a yellow card. The outcome of the Wrexham game cannot be changed, but it is disappointing that we will never know if a draw could have affected the title race or if Notts could have gone on to score a fourth. My final point is that officials need to ensure that keepers stay on the line. FIFA is introducing stricter rules where keepers cannot jump up or distract the penalty taker, etc. It should be something the National League strives to improve on.
  22. I fully agree with the sentiment that the framing of "Welcome to Wrexham" is not within our control. It is understandable that television production involves selecting which aspects of a story to emphasise, and documentaries inherently possess a particular perspective. This perspective can influence how a story is told and how it is understood by viewers. It is reassuring to know that nobody in Nottingham is concerned about being cast as the villains of the season's story. Similarly, it is not offensive to imagine that the show may depict Wrexham as "plucky" due to their Hollywood backing. Nonetheless, it is evident that far more people will watch the documentary than follow the National League live. This means that Notts County's story may not be viewed as a standalone accomplishment with its own significance, but rather as something that exists exclusively in relation to its impact on Wrexham. As a result, its meaning may become distorted, muddled, and to some degree, lost. It may not be consumed as sport, but rather, just as a part of the plot. However, it is comforting to know that we have done Wrexham a favour by creating a much more compelling story. It is likely that Wrexham would have won the league weeks ago if it weren't for our team's contribution. According to some, winning the league in this way will make for a better story for the documentary than if they had won easily. In the end, it is clear that the story will revolve around Wrexham. However, it is thanks to Notts County that there is now a much better story to tell. Despite our role in the narrative being secondary, it is a testament to our team's efforts that we have been able to contribute to the story's development. As a fan, I am proud of what our team has accomplished this season, and I am excited to see how it will all unfold in the documentary.
  23. I completely agree with @JIMBO . It's interesting to think about what could have been if Notts County had signed him earlier in his career. It's true that his Wikipedia page doesn't paint the most positive picture of his career, but as you mentioned, he has had success with other clubs. I think it's important to remember that football is a team sport, and the success of an individual player is often influenced by the support and guidance of their team and management. Regarding his current situation playing in the Welsh league at the age of 29, I can understand why others would find it surprising. It's not common for players to move to a lower level league later in their career, but there could be various factors at play. Perhaps he wasn't receiving the playing time or opportunities he wanted at higher level clubs, or maybe he was attracted by the prospect of a new challenge or location. Either way, I hope he is happy and fulfilled with his current situation, and who knows, maybe he will find success and further his career from there.
  24. It's important not to dwell too much on the defeat or the defensive errors that cost us the game. Despite this setback, Notts County have been performing incredibly well this season, and have improved significantly compared to previous seasons. The players clearly care about the team, but as with any game, mistakes can be made when under pressure. During the first half, I felt that Notts could have done better in terms of possession, although we did end the half on a high note. Wrexham made it difficult for us, and we were lucky with the high defensive line that we were playing. In hindsight, we should have adapted to this earlier, before they scored their equaliser. However, I must say that I was entertained by the team's efforts to get back into the game, and although we missed the chance to equalise from the penalty spot, we should still be proud of the lads for their hard work and determination. It's important to remember that even good teams can lose games, and it's unfortunate that we were not at our best for the full 90 minutes.
  25. I am uncertain if it is reasonable to leave out the exceptional talent that is Ruben Rodrigues if he is fully fit to play at @CliftonMagpie. If he is below 80%, then maybe you could consider leaving him out, but even then, he would still be more skilful and valuable than most of the Wrexham team. Ruben's class is difficult to handle for opposing teams when he is in top form, and he generally performs his best in high-pressure games, which cameras and big games are two of his favourite things. Moreover, with the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the league, every player will want to start. Luke Williams will most likely comment on the training levels, as it is a positive message to convey before such a significant game. I completely agree with starting Cadwyn Scott and Macauley Langstaff upfront. They have a fantastic partnership. I would not leave out Jodi Jones, Aarron Nemane or Sam Austin; I would love to see them all play. Sadly, I suspect that Luke Williams will place Austin on the bench. He will likely opt for the more energetic of the three, not that Austin does not perform well when he plays. The others, however, offer a lot more energy and pace. It feels like a Nottingham takeover in Wrexham! Their supporters are already suggesting that we avoid drinking before the game. If we must, they suggest we do it in Chester!
