  1. Like this content a lot! Something different and forges a response from different types of fans! Good work PON!
  2. Think Notts will win here. Be good to see how Forte plays over 90 mins. 2-0 Notts County
  3. Didn't attend but sounds like he had an absolute cracker! Glad he used Coventry as a wake up call and the fans can now see what hes really capable of. Key for him now is consistency. If he plays like he did at the weekend week in week out the defence looks absolutely smashing. COYP
  4. @liampie I thought that. I am under the impression he can play RM / LM / CM / ST. CM isn't his favourite so couldn't see him playing there but can you imagine him and Shola up front or even Forte and Alessandra.
  5. Will be attending this game. Think it will be a win for Notts as we look to stretch out to a 6 game unbeaten streak. We must remain physical so once again i think we're looking at a strike partnership of Ameobi and Stead. My lineup is as follows: 4-4-2 Collin / Hunt - Brisely - Duffy - Jones / Hawkridge - Hewitt - Grant - Alessandra / Ameobi - Stead I have chosen Hunt because i think his physical ability will prove vital against a strong Morecambe plus thought he did well against Vale. I would like to see Hollis in for Brisley if the head injury was a bit more serious than we thought. Ill go for a 3-0 win. Call me silly but i think they're really slow at the back and the pace of our wingers will crush them.
  6. Fantastic! Glad these are back and can see a lot of effort is put into these. Also really good talking points. Good job @Chris and @Joe Jones
  7. Good selection! Hopefully see some of the other players fighting for their space this month and can get a good competition going on here. Place your bets on Septembers TOTM.
  8. I must admit, this does tick me off for a number of reasons. If you say something negative or contradicting he will just block you. As a fan i should be allowed to express my opinion, good or bad and not be shut off by our own owner. It's good hes interacting with fans but i think some of the updates he provides should be left alone and put on the actually official NCFC twitter page.
  9. As we come up to the eight-month mark since Alan Hardy’s takeover I thought I’d shine a light on his achievements so far at Notts County and highlight some key parts of his ownership in the club. A bit of background on the main reason for the takeover. In February 2010 Ray Trew picked up the club with its priceless heritage and the Meadow Lane ground for £1 after Munto Finance, a firm that claimed to be backed by Middle East fortunes, turned out to be a complete pack full of lies. During his ownership he oversaw Notts winning the League Two title in the 2009-2010 under Steve Cotterill. After the celebrations from promotion, though, it all sort of went wrong for Trew in terms of management. Between 2009 and January 2017, Notts had gone through 13 managers. By 2016 I'm sure many other Notts fans would agree the situation at the club had become an absolute circus. Trew eventually cut his losses and agreed to sell the club to Hardy for a reported £3.5m. Along with the keys to Meadow Lane, Hardy also inherited a commitment to HMRC to pay off the accumulated debts. To put a long story short, finishing 17th in the league just a season before with relegation seemingly on the cards in 2017 and a bunch of outstanding cheques, Hardy had taken on an impossible task of retaining County's Football League status. So, with the club taken over successfully and fans in desperate need of a statement for survival, what was Hardy’s statement? His first step was to appoint a new manager as John Sheridan was shown the door for gross misconduct and verbal abuse of an official, bringing in Kevin Nolan, a quality midfielder for the likes of Bolton, West Ham and Newcastle but relatively untested as manager, save for a short spell at Leyton Orient. At a time where relegation was looking like a real possibility the communication between Nolan and Hardy had to be flawless with no complications. With the takeover and new appointment happening in the January transfer window it was important for Notts to give their squad a real boost for the second half of the season. Marc Bola, Jorge Grant, Josh Clackstone, Tahvon Campbell and Shola Ameobi were recruited, with all but Shola signing on loan. So Hardy was already being praised for the money he had put into the club and the statement him and Nolan had made with the signings by the fans but how did things start to pan out? Nolan managed to start off his Notts managerial career with a home draw against local rivals Mansfield Town. In 21 league games in charge he managed to secure 10 WINS, 4 DRAWS and 7 DEFEATS, for a side doomed for relegation that isn’t half bad. Nolan had turned a relegation battle into a mid-table team in 21 games and the fans were loving it. Attendances started to rise and rise. With Hardy doing constant offers to bring new fans and existing fans to believe and support in a new Notts team. Hardy continues to impress fans by constantly investing in the club and making the Notts County experience enjoyable for all. With the 2017-18 season looking promising we only have him to thank for his decision making and passion for this club. 10. Totally agree, some real good business done this summer. The squad can easily challenge for play offs which was the target highlighted at the start of the season. So as long as we achieve that target ill be happy.
  11. Good performance by both sides. Would've taken a point before the game had started so can't complain really ... but im going too. Ameobi at fault for first goal, he could have kicked it out for a throw or controlled it better. Second goal was down to Kevin Nolan, a replacement defender was not brought on quick enough and as a result of tired legs when they had fresh subs we conceded. 2-2 is a respectable result from both teams but we really should have seen out this game. Poor tactics by Nolan cost us this game IMO.
  12. Jon Stead what a man! I noticed a vast improvement against Stanley. The work he was doing off the ball and letting more quicker people run free (Grant, Hawkridge) was really good. However i am open to change and would just like to see Forte on for 90 mins. Other than that he deserves to keep his place.
  13. If we are looking for play offs or promotion this is one of those games where we have to win. Port Vale look poor so far so we should see this as our 3 points to play for. Having dropped 2 against Stanley this is important we win. Might i also add i predicted the correct score against Stanley lol 2-2, shame i did not put a fiver on it though. Lineup: Collin / Dickinson - Brisley - Duffy - Jones / Grant - Hewitt - Alessandra - Hawkridge / Ameobi - Stead Would play Alessandra as a CM because he adapted well for Hartlepool in that position and can always be put up front too. Good all round player to have as he can adapt to a game quickly. Ill go a 3-1 Notts Win
  14. Totally agree with Nolan, people say some of the tackles in lower league football would be cards at the top level but it should not be like that. Rules are rules no matter what league they should be followed. I like a game that flows and it is a physical sport but with refereeing they need to get a grip of the game as soon as things get out of hand. Full-time refs should be introduced into the league no question about it.
  15. We’re now 5 games into the season in all competitions and it is looking promising for Notts County. Having made a few additions in the summer with the window still yet to close, here is my opinion on the signings we have made so far and what they can bring to the squad this season. So far with the transfer window closing on August 31, Notts have made 13 signings. In depth 2 being goalkeepers, 4 defenders, 5 midfielders and 2 forwards. Within the 13 signings 2 of these are loan players from the other side of the Trent. Jorge Grant was a fan favourite last season having signed for the Magpies in the January transfer window and was a key player to our survival last season. I think at the top of Alan Hardy’s and Kevin Nolan’s to-do list was to ensure this guy was playing for the Pies for the upcoming 2017-18 season. So, let’s start with the goalkeepers. We have brought in 2 goalkeepers going by the names of Ross Fitzsimons and Branislav Pindroch. Fitzsimons was on trial for us during pre-season and we acquired him from Chelmsford. He made his Notts debut against Scunthorpe in the Carabao Cup First Round. He looks to be a commanding individual with good communication amongst his defenders. He looks to be our number 2 this year with Pindroch looking like backup. With the defenders, most notably Shaun Brisley has joined the Pies on a free transfer from Carlisle United. Brisley so far has made 4 appearances scoring one goal. He has shown real determination and looks a real solid addition alongside Richard Duffy. Other defender signings include Nicky Hunt from relegated Leyton Orient who was part of Nolan’s squad at his short stint at The O’s. Dan Jones was also recruited as a full back from Chesterfield, he slipped up big style against Coventry but has turned it around the past couple of games so I think we can write that off as a bad game for him. Finally, the Pies have recruited Pierce Bird who was unattached. Pierce looks to be a possible loan player in the future but I can see him having a long career here at Notts County. Moving onto the midfielders. With the 2016-17 season coming to a close in connection with most of the players contracts it was important to strengthen this area and boy has Nolan done that. We have recruited 5 midfielders - Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates the loanees from Nottingham Forest. Also, we have Elliot Hodge and Terry Hawkridge from Lincoln City. Terry looks to be a real gem so far with lots of pace and cutting in numerous times, this will really hurt weak teams in the league. The final midfielder recruited is Liam Walker. Liam has plenty of international experience with Gibraltar against teams such as Germany. Good solid central midfielder with good passing ability. Finally, the forwards, while offering new contracts to Stead and Ameobi with Forte still being under contract it looked like the area where least additions were needed. We have made 2 additions. One being up there for signing of the summer Lewis Alessandra from relegated Hartlepool United. So far, he has made 4 appearances for the Magpies scoring one goal and im almost 100% certain that this could reach double figures this season. As well as Alessandra, we have assigned Callum Saunders to the squad from Crewe Alexandra but looks to be a backup striker. So who is the summer signing so far? After seeing them in action in the league I am torn between Hawkridge and Grant but for me I think it has to be Grant. Sorry to follow the crowd but Grant is just class for our league. His ability to get in behind but also show flair and skill on the ball is fantastic to see at League 2. He is a game changer and has the ability to secure all 3 points on his own. However, he must learn from players like Stead and Ameobi and learn quickly that he does need the players around him to be the star of the show. Most questionable signing so far? Personally, I think Callum Saunders. I have never heard of him before and I do not know what he can bring to the team. Also at the moment I can’t see him replacing any of our first team strikers or even getting on the bench so it just baffles me while he is on the wage bill sitting in the reserves but im not a scout or coach so Nolan must see something. Let me know what you think about the star and most questionable signing of the summer so far. Can Notts improve any more areas or should we call it quits on our recruitment this summer? 16. Same or very similar lineup against Wycombe. Personally I would go for a 4-3-3 against Stanley: Fitzsimmons / Tootle - Brisely - Duffy - Jones / Grant - Hewitt - Yates / Alessandra - Ameobi - Hawkridge. I think against a strong Stanley side at the moment, counter attacking football would be our best option. I was disappointed with Collin against Wycombe to be honest. Just was not impressed and my opinion of him will remain unless i see changes. Communication for a goalkeeper is key and he just has not got that attribute. It will be interesting if Forte starts ahead of Stead though this week and see what sort of impact he can have over a 70 minute period rather than 20 minutes. Stanley score a lot of goals but also concede a lot too. Ill go a 2-2 draw as i think a win will just be out of reach for both teams here.
  17. Some real chemistry and passion in this team! First time in a long time ive actually seen fight from the team. Well Done Nolan and all backroom staff. Hope this form and quality of football continues.
  18. The thing is, i think Ameobi is always a starter so the real question here is Forte or Stead? They both bring different aspects to the game. Stead being a target man, strength, powerful shot and accuracy whereas Forte is more pace, flair and vision. Its a hard one but i think its all down to the training performance in the week and that is something only the gaffer can decide im afraid.
