So here we are, what originally felt like an eternity has finally come to an end, the season is due to start just this week! Finally, we will be able to see our beloved Magpies competitively once again! As has been mentioned before, last season followed the standard Notts template of recent years, that is hitting the ground running and being in the promotion places for the first couple of months, before running out of throttle towards November and finishing somewhere between upper-middleUpdated by PON_News

Notts County began the 2017/18 League Two season away at Coventry City in a highly-anticipated clash at the Ricoh Arena. A total of 1,727 members of the Black and White Army descended upon the West Midlands to see the Magpies open their account for the campaign following a summer of rebuilding both on the pitch and behind the scenes. As it turned out, the Sky Blues were in inspired form following their humiliating relegation from League One last season, and the teenage prodigy Jodi JonUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County have emerged from the crunch clash with League Two leaders Luton Town with a very creditable point in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road. The Magpies fell behind in the first half against the run of play when Johnny Mullins headed home to put the hosts ahead. However, Shola Ameobi hit back with a header of his own to earn a share of the spoils for County, who had goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons to thank for a crucial point-blank save late on. To say I was optimistic about Coventry that is an understatement, however I really enjoyed the travel. I had quick kip on the coach and was awaken by @magpiejue gently nudging me. I didn’t sleep all that well the night before, however the first thing I saw was the Ricoh Arena. From the outside it looks too big to be in League One, let alone the fourth tier of English football. That feeling I had at Stevenage emerged but the atmosphere wasn’t the same, I spoke to virtually everyone I knAdded by Chris

Notts County have claimed a superb 1-1 draw away at Luton Town to stay level on points with the League Two leaders. Shola Ameobi salvaged a point for the Magpies when he headed home the equaliser after Johnny Mullins had given the hosts the lead against the run of play in the first half. The result kept Notts five points clear of third place and six clear of fourth, as well as putting one of the trickiest fixtures of the year successfully behind them. In a game of few clear-cut chances, the Magpies had to settle for a point which saw them end the day fifth in League Two. Notts County's Wembley dream came to an end on Friday night as Coventry City ran out 4-1 winners in their League Two playoff semi-final second leg at Meadow Lane. Level at 1-1 on aggregate following the first leg, the hosts admittedly put in a dire first-half performance as Maxime Biamou and Marc McNulty struck in the first half to put the Sky Blues in control. Jorge Grant pulled one back for the Magpies before the break while Jonathan Forte had a perfectly good goal disallowed for offUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County put in another impressive display to claim a 2-1 win over Carlisle United in Saturday's League Two clash at Brunton Park. It looked like the Magpies' winning run would come to an end at Brunton Park when substitute Jabo Ibehre put the Cumbrians ahead and the clock began to tick over into the 80s. However, Jon Stead drew Notts level in the 85th minute before Matt Tootle struck a winner heading into injury time to make it four wins on the trot for Nolan's boys. Here areUpdated by Joe Jones

In a dramatic finish at Meadow Lane, Jodi Jones secured a last-gasp equaliser for Notts County, who drew 2-2 against Fleetwood. The visitors took the lead in the first half when Ryan Graydon headed in from a corner, and they doubled their advantage early in the second half through Brendan Wiredu, who calmly slotted home after being set up by Graydon. Notts County, however, refused to back down. Alassana Jatta halved the deficit just before the hour mark, converting Lewis Macari’s low cAdded by PON_News

So what does an old codger Rams fan make of Notts County's previous season and prospects for the next one? Well here goes, my honest thoughts on the team who are second in my affections. The 2012/13 season began promisingly enough with Notts even briefly claiming top spot in September and the only real disappointment being the league cup defeat by eventually to be promoted league 2 side Bradford City. Notts season began to fall apart in November with the surprising and shocking news thatUpdated by PON_News

The Mariners got off the mark after just over the three-minute mark, youngster Harry Clifton heading home on the rebound from Harry Cardwell's initial effort Notts then did enjoy a period of pressure but spurned their opportunities and before the break they fell further behind through Harry Davis, who rose highest to head home. Hello and welcome to this midweek PONcast Extra, which will preview Notts County's crucial League Two home meeting with fellow strugglers Macclesfield Town. Well, it's finally got to that stage. Notts County are bottom of the Football League. Macclesfield Town, managed by one-time Magpie Sol Campbell, put in a display that overshadowed the hosts at Meadow Lane and claimed a 2-1 win which saw them leapfrog Notts off the foot of League Two. Frankly, it's the same old story. An overall turgid display, the odd good moment following the equaliser where County looked as though they would go into the lead, only for shoddy defending to proveUpdated by PON_News
