Notts then went ahead before the break when a Jon Stead volley took a deflection and spun into the corner of the net. Lincoln hauled themselves level early in the second half through Harry Anderson’s looping heade

Notts County striker Jon Stead has been trying out his hand at interviews and vox pops as the 2017/18 home kit went on sale on Tuesday evening. The club put up a special event at the Meadow Lane club shop for season ticket holders to get their hands on the new home shirt. Now, most footie journos dream of being footballers, but pro player Stead seems to be curious on the opposite trajectory - here he is showing his microphone skills! Notts County have climbed to the top of League Two after a resounding 4-1 victory against 10-man Lincoln City. The Magpies rode out a tricky start at Meadow Lane to edge into a numerical advantage when Billy Knott was sent off for a high boot into the face of Ryan Yates. Notts then took the lead through Jon Stead and, despite being pegged back by Harry Anderson's equaliser, went on to strike thrice more, through Matt Tootle, Jorge Grant and ex-Imp Terry Hawkridge. Notts County's dreadful start to the season now feels an age away. Three wins in a row and five games unbeaten now has the Magpies up in 17th place in the League Two table, four points clear of the bottom two, a superb turnaround given they were bottom of the table on just one point a month ago. The latest victory is also County's first win away from home this season as Macclesfield Town, themselves still struggling and currently at the foot of the league, were beaten 1-0 at Moss Rose.

Was the result fair? I think a draw would have been the fairer result for the two teams, however at the same time I feel Notts should have had not just the one penalty that Jon Stead scored but another for the foul on him that resulted in Jon being hurled into the advertising board. How did Notts play? Very poor, they had no real movement and only two or three players were on the same wavelength – this would always make getting a result harder. I just felt like Notts played to tak

Notts County have slipped off the top of the League Two table after their former striker Francois Zoko helped Yeovil Town claim a 1-1 draw at Huish Park on Tuesday night. The Magpies took the lead through substitute Jonathan Forte's well-taken 41st-minute opener and dominated their opponents for much of the second half. Zoko, however, converted a penalty 10 minutes from time after he was brought down in the area by Magpies defender Richard Duffy. The hosts were reduced to 10 men l

Notts County have fallen to a 3-0 defeat at Stevenage on Saturday which puts them just five points above the bottom two in League Two. Matty Godden's double sandwiched Jack King's strike as the hosts earned a seventh win in eight games. The result also sees the Magpies' unbeaten run come to an abrupt end after a renaissance of sorts under Kevin Nolan.  Notts County's official site has published the video of the highlights from the game at the Lamex Stadium, so you can see for your

Notts County have relinquished top spot in League Two after being pegged back by Yeovil Town for a 1-1 draw at Huish Park on Tuesday night. The Magpies had looked on course to remain at the summit when substitute Jonathan Forte raced through to produce an excellent finish. However, former Notts forward Francois Zoko was brought down in the box late on for a penalty which he duly rattled home from the spot for a share of the points. Here is how Kevin Nolan, plus the Black and White

Since Alan Hardy took over as Notts County owner and chairman in January, the club's fortunes turned for the best. The Magpies were 21st in League Two, one point clear of the bottom two having played one game more, and had just lost their 10th consecutive league match. Notts ended up surviving quite comfortably in the end and are now preparing for the 2017/18 season with their Football League status intact. Hardy enjoys using Twitter and, over the last few months, has made extensi
