Notts County’s head-to-head history with Crewe Alexandra dates back to September 1893, when the Magpies faced the Railwaymen at the Alexandra Recreation Ground. The result was a 2-0 win for Notts. After several further meetings in the late 1890s, the fixture would experience a hiatus of 63 years; between 1896 and 1959, the two teams didn't play each other. Perhaps not the most glamours cup tie for either side, although it's a chance for Notts to progress whilst we see if we have learnt anything from last season. Colin Coopers as made comments about Notts being able to cause an upset, with Shaun Derry's first game in charge. With Hartlepool being an in-form League Two side, it might suggest that the upset could be the other way around as Notts are currently rooted to the bottom of the League One table. Notts County and Peterborough have met a grand total of 43 times over the years, dating back to the 1960s. The first meeting between the two, a Third Division fixture on the 7th September 1961, ended in a 2-2 draw. Our record win over the Posh is a 6-0 drubbing at Meadow Lane in the 1970-71 season, while our record defeat to them is a 5-1 loss in 1963. Notts County and Wolverhampton Wanderers have a long history of facing each other. The first fixture came all the way back in January 1889 (about a century before I was born! –JJ), with the Magpies securing an emphatic 3-0 win. Over the years, County’s record hasn’t quite lived up to the standard of the first game. We’ve won 23 games, but lost 37. Out of the 83 fixtures that have taken place over the years, 21 have ended in a draw. Wolves have played NottsUpdated by cheeky~k8

Carlisle United and Notts County have met on just 27 occasions since their first clash back in October 1959, a Fourth Division clash that was won by the Cumbrians 2-0. Out of those, the Magpies have won 15 and lost 9, with just 3 draws. Carlisle United is one of the northernmost clubs in the Football League, just 10 miles from the Scottish border, and one that’s normally mentioned among the most difficult away days – talk of “Carlisle away” is one for the most hardcore fans, especUpdated by cheeky~k8

All is to play for today with the local derby being moved forward from its original schedule due to our neighbours game against Rotherham United. The game is likely to start off lively, with both teams having the chance to sit top of the League Two table. Mansfield come into the game with a draw and a loss in the League Cup against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. After a disappointing showing on Wednesday night, Notts have had just 2 full days to prepare for Saturdays away trip to Crawley. With Wednesday looking like 2 points dropped, it seems Notts will be unable to reach the play offs this season. So with this in mind, let us have a look at what tomorrow might install. Notts are 3 places higher sat in 10th over Crawley by 2 points. However Crawley have 2 games in hand over Notts and for a team that has been very quiet all season, Crawley will beUpdated by Chris

Notts County against Scunthorpe United is a relatively new fixture in English football - the first time these two faced off was on the 4th January 1969 in the old Division Four. On that day, goals by George Kerr and Nigel Cassidy gave the Iron a 2-1 victory (Richie Barker netted the consolation for the Magpies). Since then, the two sides have played 24 games, Notts winning 16, losing five and drawing three. Tomorrow's fixture between Notts and Scunny willUpdated by cheeky~k8

Notts County have only ever played Crawley Town four times in their history. The first ever fixture between the two was just under two years ago, on November 10 2012. This milestone first meeting between the two, played at Meadow Lane, finished 1-1. Meanwhile the return fixture, played away on the 9th March 2013, ended as a goalless draw. Last season, at the turn of last year, we lost 1-0 to the Red Devils, a result that saw us drop to the foot of League OUpdated by cheeky~k8

Bristol City, Swindon Town and even perhaps Preston North End fans will be hoping Notts can 'surprise' MK Dons today, as Notts prepare to host them at Meadow Lane. This is a very tough game for us Magpies, MK Dons are in fine form and may put on a performance to suppress that of what we seen by Swindon. Notts will have to be tactically prepared, whilst the defence and midfield will be key to over coming any danger. Key FixturesUpdated by cheeky~k8

Notts County and Bristol City have faced each other a gargantuan 106 times over their history. This is because both clubs have been regularly playing each other since the 1900s. Tomorrow will however be just the fourth league encounter between the two in just over ten years. City only just hold the upper edge, having won 43 games to Notts's 39, while 24 matches have been drawn. The city of Bristol is the largest metro area in EnglaUpdated by cheeky~k8

All is to play for today as Bristol City, Swindon Town, Preston North End and MK Dons stride to continue their progress towards their title challenges. Whereas Notts will be trying to secure points which would allow them to remain within the top half of the division. A draw would be a brilliant result. Sheffield United v Preston North End is the stand out game within League One, two top teams coming head to head with a lot on stake.Updated by cheeky~k8

Pressure on the Pies - Fortress Meadow Lane holds play to a Notts team looking to break their maiden this weekend and strike up their first win of the 2013/4 season campaign. The visitors, Stevenage, arrive as one of only 3 teams not to score a point this season. Albeit one of those teams is Coventry who are on -4 points having started on -10, after having a point deduction for going into administration back in March. So, here we are. The cup competitions have gifted us with a fantastic tie against one of the big Premiership teams for the second time in three years. After the double header against eventual FA Cup winners Manchester City, Notts County prepare to travel to none other than Liverpool, one of the most successful and best supported clubs in England, for a League Cup Second Round tie. Out of the last 28 English football seasons (going back to 1985/86), Notts County and Brentford have been in the same league 18 of those seasons. Bit of a regular fixture then. Brentford certainly have the upper edge historically, winning 26 out of the 74 meetings. Notts have won 20, while 28 meetings were drawn. Notts haven't won against the Hounslow side since the 2003/04 season, when we did the league double over them. Eight draws followed, but the impasse was bUpdated by Chris

Sheffield United’s first match against Notts took place on the 17th January 1891 in the FA Cup - and we won 9-1! Since then, however, the Blades have undisputedly held the upper hand in head-to-head statistics: they have won 48 games against the Magpies. We’ve beaten then just 26 times, and there have been 14 draws. Our last game was back in November, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Their grouUpdated by cheeky~k8

Sheffield United’s first match against our beloved Notts took place on the 17th Jan 1891 in the FA Cup. Just to give you an idea how long ago this was… Sir Winston Churchill was a mere 16 years old when the game was played! The scoreline is also of note: Notts won 9-1! Since then, the Blades have undisputedly held the upper hand in head-to-head statistics: they have won 45 games against the Magpies. We’ve beaten then just 23 times, and there have been 12 draws. Notts and Walsall’s fixture history dates back to the 1890s, but there haven’t been that many fixtures despite over a century of head-to-heads. The first game took place on the 20th January 1894 and resulted in a 2-0 win for the Magpies. In total, there have been 62 fixtures between the two sides, and this time, Notts holds the upper edge with 26 wins. The Saddlers have won 19 times, and 17 draws have taken place. These two clubs, two of the oldest in the country (and by extension, the world) go back over 125 years. The first fixture between the two took place in November 1888, when Preston North End defeated the Magpies 7-0 in the first ever season of the Football League. The 1888-89 season saw Preston remain unbeaten throughout, and would go on to become English football's first "Invincibles", a feat which remained unbroken until 2003-04 when Arsenal also went the whole season without losUpdated by Chris
