Players leaving?

Featured Replies

I am hearing a whisper that some of existing players will be ending out the revolving door at Meadow Lane permanently.

What do you think? Is this likely and who would you think this includes if it is true?

@RayTrew can you shed any light on this?

Considering we want two players for each position, then we are overstaffed at LB for starters and depending on formation there could be others.

There will be players over the coming weeks being offloaded.  Ricardo has stated that he does not want a squad bigger than 25 so as and when replacements are signed there will be players being released. It would be inappropriate to comment on individual players.

Thank you for that, we all like to get ahead of ourselves and you know full well the rumour mill works overtime but that is just the nature of the beast.

I would throw Smith into the hat but it seems unlikely.

Cranston seems to be a decent player, nothing special. Daniels needs work, so perhaps he may be one.

Those three names do not seem unrealistic to me, in fact others have said they hoped Smudger was only going to be a coach this season, so you never know

I guess those who are going to be going out of the door will be those that didn't get game-time under either of the managers we had last season. Unless of course they are on cheap wages, but the noises coming from the club seem to be that of a small number of quality players as opposed to a large amount of mediocre players.

Alan Smiths value to the club is not necessarily on the field of play.   He is  a great lad and a great person to have around the young players

I thought Smith had been given a new deal?

That does not provide him safety from the Notts County revolving door, however what @RayTrew wrote above my comment does.

Cranston probably will leave, he was on his way out before and seems likely to be again. Perhaps Nicky Wroe?

I hope Colby makes the grade, he looks good from the few glimpses I saw of him last season.

Murray, Wroe and Cranston are good to go.

@2811862 I disagree with regard to Murray, however views can change depending on who we bring in... but I think you will see his benefit in spades this season (given the chance)

It would be madness to allow Murray to go, he has so much potential that will pay off whoever is willing to give him time.

i would hope that if any do go, they go for the right reasons because i think i am happy with the squad as it is now. so whoever comes in would have to impress me :)

i also feel cranston deserves a shot a l2 football.

I would imagine Wroe, Cranston, Daniels, Hayhurst and Hollis are probably not anywhere close to getting game time.

Others such as McKenzie, Murray, Noble could also be worried about possible lack of game-time.

Did you not name Hayhurst in your squad though?

Wroe deserves a chance in my opinion, I hope he gets it. Cranston can leave, we have enough left backs to be able to allow this, if it is the wishes of Ricardo. Hollis us good enough at this level, he will price his worth but its McKenzie I worry about. We have no idea what he can do and with Ray mentioning a new CB, that will push him right down the pecking order.

Adams is a possibility, yet I do not see anyone paying for his services. Cranston would be easier to offload in my opinion but we will have to wait and see.
