  1. Is Jacob Bedeau viewing this page and voting now, cos almost always when I’ve looked the past few MoTM Topics, he’s got a solemn vote! Sorry if your reading Mr Bedeau but Didzy, for like 70 minutes, was just sublime. Austin probably the closest to taking it off him, he had a very impressive game.
  2. I think several players had a great game. Rod McDonald did an excellent job in defence, handling threats well. He had a few shaky moments, but he managed most tasks with ease. He headed high balls away effortlessly and dealt with advancing Swindon Town players. It seems a bit harsh to overlook his performance, even though I voted for David McGoldrick.
  3. As I said in the match thread there were some good performances from a lot of players, Austin, Platt, Abbot but on this occasion I agree with the match sponsors it’s got to be David McGoldrick he oozed class.
  4. I thought David McGoldrick played well, but he was selfish at times. Alassana Jatta set him up for an easy finish, but Didzy's strike was poor. His team play did not seem to be there, which is why I voted for someone who put in a good individual and team performance.
  5. The first 11 are all included in my list of Notts players to be chosen for the Man of the Match against Swindon today. Bass, McDonald, Platt, Bedeau, Martin, Abbott, Palmer, Austin, Crowley , McGoldrick, Jatta Please give your vote for your choice and let us know how you come to that decision.
  6. I think we saw another very good team performance once again. I think there were several players that stood out. The Notts defensive three, Platt, Bedeau & particularly McDonald, did well. I think Austin did well & Abbott had another good game & that through pass to Didzy was pure class. Crowley had a steady game but wasn't at his very best.Jatta worked hard once again & was always a handful. I think it was very close for Man of the Match, but I'm going to choose Didzy due to his fantastic work rate & his two goals, which could easily have been three or four.
  7. Nobody shined more than David McGoldrick. It was a good team performance. It was nice to see Matt Palmer pulling the strings. I thought Josh Martin looked effective, and Sam Austin ran his heart out.
  8. Josh Martin’s contract could’ve in theory expired after today’s game, all we know is that he's contracted until some point in January but we don’t know how long… So with that in mind, would you extend his contract to the end of the season, or further even? I’d keep him until the end of the season, hopefully even keep him for longer is he continues to play well. When he’s played at wingback, whilst only having minimal playing time, he’s never looked that comfortable there. He did well against Walsall though, definitely better around the oppositions box than his own but he really excelled in the middle when he played just behind Jatta against Cheltenham. I'd like to see him play here more often.
  9. i thought david mcgoldrick deserved the man of the match. sam austin, rod mcdonald, george abbott, matty platt and dan crowley were also very good. i think defensively notts were mostly solid but mcgoldrick made the biggest difference.
  10. Until about three weeks ago, I'd have driven him to his next club myself. Something seems to have clicked recently though, not sure if he's finally settled into a system and showing his genuine quality or it is just temporary form.
  11. Never an easier poll. Anybody who doesn't pick Didzy is wrong.
  12. It’s sad from a nostalgic point of view as Palmer, Austin and JJ are the last men standing from our promotion team. That team is like a distant memory now! But from a footballing point of view, it’s probably the right decision. He’s still unproven at this level, and we’ll never know if he’s properly over his injury. It can take years to get back to feeling your best for some players. No idea how he’ll do at Carlisle, but it won’t be easy as they are a poor team. He's had a rough year so I wish him all the best and hope a move closer to home makes him happier.
  13. I voted for David McGoldrick. The sponsors at Notts are doing better than usual.
  14. You can't judge a player from a few brief appearances because Josh Martin seems to have settled well. There's definitely a player in him, so I would keep him if his wages are fair. The only reason not to extend his stay would be if his wages are higher than what a rotational player might get, which I doubt. We need to get the best out of players who arrive with low morale. They can be the biggest bargains, so we must ensure he doesn't lose his way.
  15. Keep until the end of season.
  16. My dad has told me he saw on Facebook that he was seen with a Carlisle top on. As far as I'm concerned he is still a pie until the club make a statement and at the moment it's just rumours
  17. Wish him all the best, and going to work for his old manager might be just the pickup he needs to really get his career going again. Without the injuries I’m sure we would have has another great striker on our books because he had the game and finishing ability for it. Carlisle could be the right club as I’m sure he will get the game time, he just needs an early goal. Don’t forget Sam Slocombe is also still at the club, at least until the end of the season.
  18. I echo the comments about being strong defensively. Bedeau, Platt, and McDonald did a superb job. The midfield was good once we grew into the game, with praise for Sam Austin down the right side and Josh Martin being very flexible. Dan Crowley was quieter than normal but still performed well. So, I voted for David McGoldrick, as I thought he was the best player on the pitch.
  19. i guess it depends on money. he does look like hes coming into the games more and does seem settled which i know would take time but i do also wonder if @Fan of Big Tone is right about him trying to earn his contract. i would like to think its more about feeling settled and a part of the team, rather than performing better to get a new deal with us or elsewhere. this would make me more minded towards letting him go. yet based on him feeling settled and his recent performance, i think he should stay.
  20. On the vid above it looks like the defender heads in it for Didzy's first. ???? Don't show it to whoever clarifies the goal tallies! It was a good way to round off the hectic Christmas fixtures, 12 points from 15 is great. I think our quality just shone through, as man for man we were just better then them and that's credit to our players. Swindon did try to press us but they lacked the energy and conviction. And when they did have the ball they just never had the ability to control the ball like we did. Even though we weren't at our best we still passed it through the lines really well at times and created some really good chances. Second half, not sure how we didn't add a third, but we kept switched on and didn't let Swindon get one back which is just as good.
  21. Maybe he’s just upping his game to get a new contract, if that’s the case once he’s got the contract he could revert back to type.
  22. @piethagoram.bsky.social on Bluesky BSKY.APP https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/24833383.depleted-swindon-town-put-sword-notts-county/ #Notts
  23. Great win and a great performance for the WHOLE match, there could and probably should have been at least one or two more goals to bolster the goal difference but that’s nit picking. outstanding performances from Didzy, Austin (who seems to get better every match) Abbott and Platt in fact every players comes out of that game with credit. YOUPIES!
  24. Really pleased with this win. Notts dominated the game without really getting out of first gear. Could easily have scored six, & restricting Swindon to just a few opportunities. Sometimes it's better to do enough to win & that was the case today. 40 points now from 24 games. A busy Xmas & New year period has been seen off with 12 points out of 15. That is a fantastic return & with injured players now returning it puts Notts in good stead with the next match next Saturday away to Grimsby.
  25. COYP. Be interesting to see how serious the injuries to Macari and Ness are/were and if they're in contention. Think it's too early to expect Jodi to be ready to start, expect him to come on around 60-70 minutes mark, depending how the game is going, with a view to starting the next game and being subbed around the 60-70 minute mark.
  26. I’m a bit worried about the lack of break before this game given how knackered we looked by the end of the Walsall game. It’s the same for Swindon though, but I’m not sure they are quite as gun-ho as we try to be… I would 100% be making changes, no idea who though cos our player availability list is seemingly triple-locked in safe and guarded by Rottweilers. We do have more good attacking options with Martin suddenly looking a player and Grant and Jones available to start. Just a shame we now we have a few issues at the other end, Tsaroulla, Gordon, Ness and Macari could all miss out. And I feel a bit for Jatta, he’s doing really well but he’s pretty much played every minute since the Salford game. I Hope he’s got enough energy for one more game! Swindon have improved recently, but they've still only won once away from home this season. As @Dripsey3 says their form is better so they should be more confident that they can potentially stop us and get something from the game. Even if they do press us, it surely won’t be as effective as Walsall they are a much better team with better players too. I think they are more likely to take the sit deep and counter approach, but we’ll see. Harry Smith, will be their main threat, a proper only his own fans like him type of player…
  27. It has not gone well for him there; he started as the captain but fast forward to today, he’s been stripped of that and not really performed well in a team that are now the worst in the league… Think there’s no way for him back here, after what he said and being unable to accept the decision to be striped of the capacity but sadly for him, it was 100% the correct decision. He was never going to be a guaranteed starter and Bedeau has proved to be a better player in his position.
  28. Swindon are unbeaten in their last 4. They drew away at Wimbledon and Bromley. They have beaten Grimsby and Colchester. That's fairly impressive given the mess they were in before Ian Holloway came in. We should be beating Swindon at home. We need to stay within touching distance of 2nd place.
  29. It goes without saying that Notts need to get back to winning ways quickly against Swindon on Saturday. I think it helps Notts that the match kicks off early on Saturday. If Notts can get a win it should see them shoot up the table once again. Swindon will be no push overs & expect them to employ similar tactics again Notts that other teams have done all season. They will try to press Notts hard, concede possession & try to hit Notts on the break, as well as hoping Notts make defensive mistakes, that Swindon can take advantage of. Notts just need to successfully counter these tactics like they did in the first half against Walsall. I would like to see Jodi Jones start this match along with Conor Grant with Didzy on the substitutes bench. I think Notts will get back to winning ways by a good margin. 3:0 or 3:1 would be an excellent result to get the fans buzzing once again.
  30. Football wouldn't be the same without wild rumours and people spreading stories. There might be some truth in it, but until there's something concrete, it should just be treated as a rumour. As for Cedwyn Scott leaving, it depends on whose decision it is. If Scott wants to leave, it's disappointing, especially since Notts gave him time off at a crucial stage to cope with his depression. His departure in this scenario would feel like a kick in the teeth. While I would wish him well, it would be disappointing. If Scott wants more game time, it makes sense, but the timing isn't the best. Being closer to his roots up north might help his mental health. However, there's the question of where he would be better off. Carlisle are in danger of dropping out of the Football League, while Notts are in a good position for promotion to League One. Moving to Carlisle might seem less ambitious, even if he would get more game time. If Notts want to let him go, I would question their commitment to players' mental health, as it could seem like they are pushing him out because he needs time. It's a bit like when Lee Hughes allegedly handed in a sick note from a doctor when Keith Curle, if I remember correctly, wanted Hughesy out. The main thing is that there's room for Cedwyn Scott to be a big part of our team, but it's a case of Stuart Maynard playing him in the right position or managing to get the best out of him and Scott putting in an equal amount of effort.
  31. Let’s hope we bounce back with this game, depending on injuries I’d keep the same team and bring on Jodie later if needed, we need a 90+ minutes performance like the first half against Walsall, if we can do that it should be enough to beat Swindon.
  32. Yes keep him until the end of season then review his performances. He’s certainly having a great run of form in the last two matches.
  33. We should keep him. Offer him a contract till the end of the season. He's had two good games against Cheltenham & Walsall, so he's worth keeping.
  34. I'd be tempted to keep him on till the end of the season just on the basis of the last two games. We've finally seen that there's a good player in there - just look at his beautifully weighted assist today. If he produces it regularly in the second half of the season, we can think about longer.
  35. The situation with Cedwyn is very strange, I've heard a few rumours but not that he's been training with Carlisle. I'm not sure if he would be allowed considering he is contracted to us, it would be very strange if true. That's not to say he might not end up there now the window is open. He needs the game time and Carlisle aren't exactly a rival. Might not be the confidence boost he needs though as they don't exactly create tons of chances, their current top scorer Armstrong only has 3 goals...
  36. It's just a rumour as far as I can see. I think that it is going to be hard for Cedwyn to get a first eleven spot unless there are injuries. No one will ever forget Cedwyn's role in getting Notts out of the National League to where Notts are today. Cedwyn needs regular football time & if these rumours turn out to be true, I say good luck to him if he does leave Notts.
  37. Very pleased with this. A player I've been keeping an eye on for a while. He played in the striker role when Shelbourne played a 3/5 at the back formation and on the wing when they played a 4-2-3-1. Shels arguably would've won the League of Ireland earlier last season if Jarvis hadn't been recalled. He definitely has a high ceiling and himself, Grant, Ness and Macari are players who can step up and develop further. Here is some of his percentages in different aspects of his game from his spell at Shels last season in the League of Ireland. Made by Will from WT Analysis
  38. The top teams of League 2 have a far more effective high press and that is our Achilles heel. We need more pace higher up the field (hopefully Jarvis will help with that) as an outlet and we need to make better decisions at the back. Sometimes you just cannot play your way out of trouble and need to put your boot through the ball. I think the Walsall home game highlighted brilliantly our strengths and weaknesses in one game. First half they let us control the ball and they couldn’t get close, second half they made changes and brought much more energy and urgency both on and off the ball which we just couldn’t cope with. A lot of league 1 sides would spot our weakness quite quickly, so we need to find a solution.
  39. I'm disappointed to be honest, but I hope the undisclosed fee is enough to bring in someone committed to helping us achieve promotion to League One. I wish Cedwyn Scott all the best at Carlisle. It's going to be interesting to see how they end up at the end of this season.
  40. @piethagoram.bsky.social on Bluesky BSKY.APP https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/st-johnstone/5155100/st-johnstone-kyle-cameron-january-transfer-window/ #Notts
  41. I reckon he might stay, considering he's still quite young and has potential to grow. We've got some excellent players he can learn from, and if we achieve promotion, he could prove himself further in League One. It's important to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his recent improved performances, as we hope he genuinely feels settled within our squad.
  42. Yes I thought it was an own goal too, the defender tried to head it over but only succeeded in putting it in the net. I think it probably would have gone in anyway.
  43. Update. Update. GOOOOOAAAAAL DIDZY Stallard: "Wonderful touch... and he places it past the keeper!"
  44. I would like to know why he isn’t fighting for his place now though? Have we given him Christmas off, is he injured? The fact we’ve had no update always tends to mean people jump to the worst possible outcome, but I don’t want to believe the 'negative' rumours. We were desperate for some fresh legs upfront yesterday, if he’s fit surely he gets on the bench…
  45. Another great performance by the team today, so I have included eleven players for you to vote on. Bass, Bedeau, Platt, Austin, Martin, Hinchy, Abbott, Grant, Crowley, Palmer & Jatta.
  46. I haven't heard it on the Darmstadt grapevine but I wouldn't be surprised as he needs regular games. He's also been conspicuously missing from the squad recently. However, I'd expect us to sign at least one striker before he's allowed to go. It would be a shame to lose another of our promotion heroes, but a move might be best for both sides. The jury's still out as to whether he's really up to League Two, but he's definitely worth a punt from Carlisle's point of view.
