Notts County have moved off the foot of the League Two table and now sit two points from safety following their second successive draw, a 0-0 stalemate at Northampton Town. The Magpies drew 3-3 against Stevenage last time out and, although they remain chasing a win this season, a second clean sheet of the campaign - following that against Colchester United in August - will come as a much-welcomed improvement. Jon Stead, Lewis Alessandra, Enzio Boldewijn and Kane Hemmings had the best c

Notts County put in a much improved performance in Harry Kewell's first home league game in charge but defensive issues came back to haunt the Magpies as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Stevenage at Meadow Lane. Three times Notts went ahead in the game and three times they were pegged back by the visitors, yielding just a second point of the season. Pride of Nottingham head honcho Chris reviews the game in this week's Tactical Talk piece. Was the result fair? I feel Notts was

Notts County sit bottom of the league two table after drawing 3-3 against Stevenage at home on Saturday 15th September. Jon Stead's goal 22 minutes in took Notts ahead, which was then even when Danny Newton scored an equaliser at the 38 minute mark. Enzio Boldewijn scored another goal for the Magpies followed by another equaliser from Stevenage's Cedric Evina. Half time finished as a draw, 2-2. In the second half, Notts County's Kane Hemmings scored a leading goal which was again

Notts County disappointed yet again on Saturday as Forest Green Rovers ran out 3-1 winners at Meadow Lane. The result left the ten-man Magpies rock bottom of League Two but frankly it could have been even harsher on Harry Kewell's new side. Liam Shephard opened the scoring when he rifled past Ross Fitzsimons in the first half and, after the restart, Dan Jones walked for a two-footed lunge on Lloyd James. Forest Green then had a goal ruled out but soon after doubled their lead when

On Sunday, the unthinkable happened when Kevin Nolan, who masterminded Notts County's Football League survival in 2016-17 before leading the Magpies into the League Two playoffs the following year, was relieved of his duties by owner Alan Hardy. The last 18 months have certainly been an enjoyable ride, but this season, the Magpies have struggled in the league, with an opening-day draw with Colchester United followed by four straight defeats to leave the club bottom of the table. “This

Notts County ensured that their fans would begin the weekend on the sourest of notes as Yeovil Town ran out 4-0 winners at Meadow Lane on Friday. The Magpies thought they had taken the lead early on when Nathan Thomas turned in at the back post but he was adjudged to have been in an offside position. Things then went very wrong very quick as Elliott Hewitt made a hash of a clearance which eventually led to Yoann Arquin crossing low for Alex Fisher to turn the ball in from close range.

Notts County began the 2018-19 season with a point in a tricky and ultimately underwhelming 0-0 draw with Colchester United at Meadow Lane. The Magpies considerably strengthened their ranks over the summer with several high-profile signings rocking up at the club so the hope was of hitting the ground running against somewhat mediocre opposition. It didn't go that way though, with both sides looking rusty in the first League Two game of the campaign, and the outcome was a share of the s

Another weekend, another pre-season friendly, another seven notches on the calendar, another week closer to the start of the 2018-19 season. On Saturday, Notts County had the privilege of facing none other than the team that defied odds of 5,000-1 to win the Premier League title in undoubtedly the biggest fairy tale in sporting history, ever. Although Leicester City have not been able to mount another title challenge since the magical 2015-16, they nonetheless enjoyed a superb Champion

Notts County played their first home game of the 2018-19 programme at the weekend as they hosted Derby County in a pre-season friendly. Magpies boss Kevin Nolan fielded a strong starting XI against the Rams, who have England and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard on board for his first job in management. Things did not go quite to plan for Notts, as teenager Luke Thomas scored twice to send the Rams into a 2-0 half-time lead. Former Notts loanee Mason Bennett and Tom Huddlestone were al

Even though we're in the off-season at present, we've still had plenty of football action to go by over the last few weeks. First of all the World Cup, which has been an absolute spectacle from start to near-finish, not to mention England doing so well to get to the semi-finals and indeed continuing their participation with the third-place playoff. At Meadow Lane, meanwhile, we're very much in the full swing of pre-season, with players coming in and friendlies being played out. It

Notts County have unveiled their new kits for the 2018/19 season. The Magpies released teasers of the new Puma shirts throughout Friday before the full unveiling in the evening. The home kit retains the vertical black-and-white stripes that Notts are famous for and "pays homage to the very popular kits of the 1990s by incorporating yellow into the design". The away kit, meanwhile, "sees the Magpies continue with their cool combination of blue and white – with a pinstripe twist".

It's definitely been a bittersweet day today at Meadow Lane. The club has unveiled its new kits for the 2018/19 season, and the home shirt will go on sale tomorrow. In addition, it's the first day of pre-season, so now it's collision course for the friendlies and just over a month away until the league starts again! Alas, we've had to bid farewell to Mike Edwards, the very definition of "stalwart" and a man who is thoroughly loved among the Black and White Army. The talented

A plaque commemorating the foundation of Notts County was unveiled at Nottingham's Mercure Hotel last weekend. Previously known as the George Hotel, the location - just off the city centre en route to Hockley and the Lace Market - was where "Notts Foot Ball Club" became official following a committee meeting within its walls in December 1864. Colin Slater, who has reported on the club for more than 50 years as part of BBC Radio Nottingham, revealed the tribute outside the hotel in Geor

Notts County's Wembley dream came to an end on Friday night as Coventry City ran out 4-1 winners in their League Two playoff semi-final second leg at Meadow Lane. Level at 1-1 on aggregate following the first leg, the hosts admittedly put in a dire first-half performance as Maxime Biamou and Marc McNulty struck in the first half to put the Sky Blues in control. Jorge Grant pulled one back for the Magpies before the break while Jonathan Forte had a perfectly good goal disallowed for off
