The loss of Alex Bass has created a new, more urgent focus for the club because Bass gave us confidence in his all-round abilities as a keeper. I haven't felt as calm or as assured that our keeper could make those defining saves to keep out the opposition as I have with him. The thing about strikers is I believe we need more than two; ideally, we would have four, ensuring they can get game time in different positions. Notts players have a good style, which has a high creation chance, and although last season we did struggle to score at times.
I do feel confident in our ability to feed a striker and allow them to grow with confidence; for example, Kyle Wootton learned a lot from coming to us. This experience has given him a platform to go on. Whereas we once struggled with strikers, it now seems like we could put any hard-working striker with a good finishing ability in this position, and he would get goals.
Macaulay Langstaff, Alassanna Jatta and David McGoldrick thrive within this type of setup, and their quality always stood out when in form.
Sign a solid keeper that will impress and make us forget about the disappointment of Alex Bass moving on; it would allow us to remember his time as an excellent signing. Rather than wishing we had never sold him. Good keepers are out there, but again, just like with management, I think experience is key. Bass's time at AFC Wimbledon showed his quality, and there will be others waiting for that opportunity to be a team's regular starting goalkeeper.
An attacking midfielder of proven class, hard-working, and with the potential to score, would be nice.
Signings could easily boost morale in the fan base, as could a good start to the season. Excellent blog!

We do have to take into consideration the injuries, but we are only now starting to feel that burden - which is a shame because we had been told a lot were close to returning back when we played Carlisle United. Excluding Jodi Jones and Curtis Edwards, who immediately come to mind, there were others facing similar challenges, including Cedwyn Scott, who took a break for mental health reasons. It hasn't seen us nose dive in form like we did last year, when we lost Matt Palmer. I do think we have done well so far. I know David McGoldrick has got us out of jail at times (among others) but I consider the progress to be slow but steady.
As for the blog, I see nothing wrong with it. A bit of light humour can be good, not that the moaners will agree, but I think it's harmless. It is a very good read, so I am sure most fans would agree.
Thank you for writing this.

@liampie + @Joshua, yes, I am caught near the end very briefly. This would have been filmed after we scored, as I am taking pictures.
I like your take on the social media posts. It's like a reaction video on YouTube but not personal. Just you're responding and adding your own take on things. It's very well-written. The moment I noticed it, I gave your post a share. I still want to say "tweet and retweet", so badly.

Very fair and to the point, @TheSkipper. This is a very good blog.
I believe it is widely accepted that we are in need of another centre back, someone who possesses similar qualities to Aden Baldwin but without the injury history. Baldwin is a key player from last season that helped to improve the defence, but it is unfortunate that he is so injury prone.
All the signings are smart additions, capturing Jodi Jones' signature will be a key decision because he looks quality whenever he's on the ball.
Randall also had a great collaboration with Sam Austin, and together they were a deadly force that could easily dismantle unprepared defences. I think our quality in the attacking positions is excellent, defensively we are fine, but one addition would cement a solid squad.

Thank you, Lewis. This is a wonderful read and I'm honoured that you asked me. I wish you well with your blog, you never know it might take off and you end up doing a full one.
You've got my full support! Thanks again, @TheSkipper.

The squad Notts had in 06 wasn't the best, but they played together and fought for us. I had actually forgotten about that, as I seem to recall the season wasn't exactly all thrills.
Wasn't it also one of the seasons where money worries impacted things?
I wished my memory were as clear as Uncle Colins...

Those Frankfurters/Hot dogs look the bomb.
@super_pie look at these.
I don't eat at football grounds if I can help it, I especially do not at Meadow Lane. I was put off when a server tried giving Jake a hot dog that they had dropped on the floor. We always eat before approaching the ground now.
This food does look interesting, minus the source and funny cowpat looking thing.

I thought he was a good manager, especially during games. He knew how to get a side attacking, perhaps defensively it could have been improved but the brand of football always entertained. I actually don't recall why he was sacked, well the "reason" for it. I always felt Shaun Derry should have remained at Notts, but the memories of Moniz are there.
The opening game against Stevenage will always be remembered fondly by me.
I left thinking we were on the verge of something special, perhaps if he had more time to influence Notts he might have got us back into League One.

Thank you for the present, I can't say how much it improves life but it goes along way towards enjoying creating art.

Passion has been missing for years, it was bridged with the signing of Shola Ameobi and to some point Alan Smith.
Two people I would welcome back.
I think Notts could inject a lot more if they tried to rekindle a connection with the likes of Lee Hughes, he has a great sense of humour and is very much down to earth. I was at the Hastings Magpies game at the weekend and it was amazing to see him turning rings around players. I do feel, having someone like him in and around the dressing would only be a good thing. Get him back as a coach, he's obtaining his badges now and will retire soon from playing.

@Chris goodbye Notts-Joe. Great article buddy. I did always wonder where the Joe came from.
I'm gonna request a new username with that last line, please go to SimplyChris haha!
I was almost tempted to go with 'EverybodyHatesChris' after the sitcom but it was too long. ????

I'll have you know Chris is a very creative name, where else would I get my creativity from? It's not @super_ram for sure.

Hi Chris. Great read.
Your too kind Julie, hopefully I can focus on producing some interesting blogs and get this section back to how it was. Though I felt the username change would be a step in the right direction, watch people call me Joe for the sake of it now.

Hopefully I can find time to guest write and stuff also.

I loved hearing stories about his scouting methods, even today I often have various fans tell me stories of him. Scouting a player long term really does give a bigger picture, as you see their flaws more clearly and I do believe every manager should join in with the scouting.
Jimmy spoke gold, which is clear by how successful he was that it worked.

@allardyces tash, I love reading your blogs. I love the splash of wit and contrasting remarks that you make. I can tell you spend time trying to be different, but also to be interesting; you balance it very well. The addition of a poll is a touch of class.
