  2. @Piethagoram. I think most fans outside the PL deplore how powerful the PL & TV money is becoming. Television money that is not distributed fairly down the football leagues is what is wrong with football. The PL & TV companies control the narrative.and it is just not right. Every one of the 92 league clubs should have an equal vote. I'm afraid that the current direction of football & how revenue is shared is not going to suit teams like Notts and teams down the football pyramid. The Premier League and the TV Companies need their wings clipping and hopefully that will begin to happen when a football regulator is in place.
  3. @Piethagoram League 2 has a limit of two foreign players in a squad. I think it would work just as well in the PL.
  4. @Fan of Big Tone Just imagine if a team was playing at home and the fans were so quiet and the team could see their manager arguing with Spurs fans on the touchline. That actually happened during the Spurs v Man City match. Psychologically this must have had an effect on the Spurs players and would have had a detrimental affect on their performance during the match, that would have only helped Man City.
  5. Welcome to PON @Izzie Dyer Looking forward to seeing your posts and contributions to the site.
  6. @Piethagoram In addition to the fixed cap on wages and transfer fees, I would put a cap on foreign players allowed in each PL squad too. Reducing foreign players would allow more British players the opportunity to play at the highest level and this in turn should help our National teams to become much stronger. This is veering off the topic, but I would go back to having only the Champions from each Of the PL in Europe competing in a knockout Champions Cup. The runners up in each PL league would compete for the Europa Cup by knock out. A purely knockout system for both competitions would cut down on the matches played and would allow FA Cup and League Cup replays to be re-established again.
  7. @Piethagoram I wouldn't have kept Rawlinson because league 2 was a step to far for him in my opinion. Macari is a much accomplished player than Warner. Like I said,, we need to go for experience and go for defenders and defensive midfield players that can compete with the physicality of League 2. Sometimes pretty short passing football has to be put on the back burner when you are playing certain teams in league 2. In other words, Notts have to be able to change their style depending on who they are playing. Teams like Mansfield, Stockport and Wrexham recognised that. I think Notts need to follow their example.
  8. We'll put together @menzinho some very interesting revelations in your article. It clearly shows where Notts need to improve if they are to challenge next season. The number of conceded penalties probably made the difference between us getting into the playoffs and not doing so. The least number of successful tackles than those we were competing with is a big factor too. We clearly need to recruit the type of players that can tackle, are strong and can deal with the physicality of this league.
  9. I think we need two tall, strong, tough & physical centre backs to joint the squad that know how to tackle and won't be physically bullied. We tried Warner who was billed as a player just as you described, but it didn't work did it. Notts are going to have to be much more versatile than they have been this season. That means being able to change their style when it is needed to deal with the strengths of every team they meet.
  10. Have seen lots of speculation on here with differing opinions on who Notts should recruit with some good suggestions too. This is the time when there is much speculation along with lots of click & bait stories on social media, with rumour running a mock about potential transfers. Despite all of that, I still stick by my opinion that Notts need to go with recruiting players with lots of league experience this time with their ages ranging from the mid to late 20s to early 30s. A player like former Wrexham defender, Ben Tozer would fit the kind of player I would recruit. Notts wouldn't go far wrong in looking to recruit from players released by the three big promotion teams in League 2. I hope the delay in Notts announcing any incoming players just yet, demonstrates that they are making sure that they get the right players in, that will serve the ultimate purpose of getting promotion next season.
