I take it you live in Sheffield based on your username. What year did you move there, if you don’t mind my asking? I live in Manchester, so I travel a lot through Sheffield and other places such as Leeds.

I have satin both the Family Stand and the Kop on occcasions in the past. Nowadays that myself and my youngest daughter have seasons tickets and go to the home games together, we sit in the Pavis nearthe half way line but just a little towards the kop end. We talk to the people around us and is interesting to sit near to the away team dug out to see and hear what's going on

I have sat in both the KOP and the Derek Pavis stands in recent years. Last season, I was in the Pavis, but this time, I’ve moved back to the KOP. I enjoy watching a match from the front, side-on view, but for this campaign, I want to be where the atmosphere is. Hopefully, by the end of the season, we’ll be celebrating promotion.

Wouldn't mind taking Livramento to the World Cup next summer. Him and Lewis Hall as left-backs

I wish I had more time because I prefer watching football where teams are encouraged to pass crisply and with purpose. Lee Carsley has done well taking over from Gareth Southgate and lets his team play great attacking football.

@Robbie, I think he was sabotaged by the media and the whole Royal Family situation. He would have been a good appointment, in my opinion, but at least he gets to continue with the U21s. The highlights of the game are a joy to watch too.

I agree I think all we've done by getting a big-name coach in Tuchel is sky-rocket the expectation and that'll only increase the pressure to win even more. I feel we are going to be very disappointed after the World Cup next year...

As for the U21 Euros, I caught the end of the Slovakia Spain match earlier in the week that was good and then I watched the England match. I think their next match is on Sunday at 5pm, I'll probably watch that too.

I think for me Didzy's goal against Bradford that rescued a point for Notts at their place is the best goal, but he has scored quite a few spectacular goals for Notts.

I think his goal, which I believe was against Chesterfield, was a crucial strike. David McGoldrick has scored many classy goals, but the most enjoyable ones are the vital strikes that won us a game or earned a point, especially away from home.

Yeah no shortage of great goals there, but my favourite was the little chip against Gillingham. As for team goal, you don’t really see it but the goal against Forest Green was good, it was a really quick and well executed break I think Jodi ran half the length of pitch before picking him out.

I think the squad limit is 22, not counting keepers, loanees and U21s. That would put us on 17 right now? So not room for loads more. Could do with farming out a couple on season long loans again if that means they don't count towards the total.

Goalkeepers don’t count, @Sheffield Pie, so there’s not much space for many new arrivals. It’s best to focus on players who can help us score goals. I think Conor Grant should have a stronger season now that he’s settled, but signing an attacking midfielder feels essential.

Two number 10s would be my absolute top priorities given we’ve lost Didzy, Crowley and Whitaker. Grant is a bit of an enigma and Edwards just really struggled after his injury. It’s such a key position for how we play, unless we are going to set-up slightly differently we need some real quality here. In League 2 I think Jack Payne is probably the next best attacking midfielder, he would be great for us, but I can’t see that transfer happening.

I agree we need another centre back, back-up keeper and possibly another wingback too.

Didn't the Forest chairman protest about VAR and the offside rules? I don’t think all these changes help, but if they make things a little clearer, then it’s a good thing overall.

Let's go back to how Football was supposed to be. Controlled by a Referee & two Linesmen. Most of the time they get decisions right but they are only human.

VAR makes big mistakes & it has changed the game for the worse. Just get rid of it.

It’s clever that a team has found a way to train their players to beat the offside trap and ruling. At the same time, I don’t think it’s in the spirit of the game. It’s rare for a small club to make themselves heard, and the change does clarify the situation in the footnote of the offside law.

Tom Cleverley never really caught my interest. The person who comes in needs to be experienced. All the fuss about Jack Wilshere, but there’s nothing to suggest he is the right person.

This appointment is the biggest one the Reedtz have had to make. The progress over the past two seasons and the National League years must continue so we keep moving forward on the pitch.

It’s easy to point the finger at the manager, just as much as it is at the players. But when one or two have an off day, it makes things harder for the rest of the team.

It was unlucky that Senegal were the complete opposite. I thought they played very well. It’s hard to feel bitter about losing to such an organised team, one that clearly played to win when England just couldn’t find their rhythm.

England will struggle at times against tall, physical, and fast teams. Senegal being well-organised made it even tougher. I'm young enough to know that this is the best period we've had in my lifetime. Most likely the strongest since Italia 90.

This is very true, but we do need to highlight the room for improvements.

Football attracts meltdowns and negative despair if you are in poor form or have previously done well in competitions. Expectations will always be high with England, but sometimes I do think we need to accept defeat to a team that played better. Whilst pointing out the room for improvements, I think it shows we haven't got a lot of options in goal, and defensively England does need to be more organised.

the more i think about the agreement and work in cooperation with university of nottingham, the more i think it will be beneficial to our city not just notts. it does look like the idea place to train as there are not many facilities like it nearby that are in places that gives the club some privacy.

It looks like the club are getting the infrastructure sorted before bringing in a coach. Several clubs are also looking for managers, and having things in place like this could help us stand out. The squad and our fanbase are important, but improving the training ground and other facilities can only be a positive step.

Let them train on The Embankment, it’ll help prepare them for the rough pitches we’ll face in League Two.

When we trained at the National setup in Burton, it felt like a waste of time, especially with players like Dean Leacock complaining about the pitch. At least Meadow Lane is like a gorgeous rug, and the new training facility agreement sounds like a great move.

Working with the Uni is a smart decision.

I’m losing faith in the way some of these changes are being made, especially when it feels like they don’t have the best interests of the game at heart. FIFA need to stop messing with the World Cup. I enjoy watching the early matches, but the more teams they add, the less special it feels. The last few competitions have already seemed bloated, especially since 2016.

Big clubs? You mean Germany and whichever European nation happens to have a poor World Cup. It’s probably France, given how eager they are to win it. It makes no sense. How is it financially beneficial to any nation except the host?

It's ok to discuss the Nations World Cup, however the point of the thread was to discuss the Club World Cup.

Major clubs like Man U, Chelsea, Man City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, AC Milan & their ilk are pushing for a 48 Club World Cup.

"Platz 4" doesn't mean "fourth-place", it's the number of the training pitch we'll be playing them on, so this one won't be in the stadium.

Those places in Germany will be packed when Notts fans arrive for the game. I hope they have plenty of beer because anyone who has been to The Nest will know how often the plastic cups are used on match days.

It should be a great trip for those going. The result and performances won’t really matter.

alfreton announced, two german friendlies. probably a league one team away. i hope we dont avoid home games like we did last season due to the pitch resurfacing and upgrades. i prefer home games but the german matches do appeal as they are different.

Freaking out is a bit much, but he’s not exactly the best signing. They might want him for his leadership and experience. If they’re going to survive in League Two, they’ll need to be much tighter at the back.

He should do well, but if he ends up as a rotation or backup option, it wouldn’t be a surprise, especially after his first season.

He’s not a ball-playing defender, and I don’t rate him. Bradford fans seem to know a lot about Curtis Tilt.

@super_ram, am I right about my memory of Mum then? The moment I saw the image, I remembered a few memories of when I was younger and we would come to see you whilst at work.

I remember always being told not to go too far ahead.

i think some of the really old pictures looks very haunting and a lot of those shown i would not feel comfortable walking near. its interesting to see the memories shared, tho i dont have any to add but its still a good topic that is different.

@Chris I think you are referring to to the Co-op departmental store which had a furniture section upstairs.You were always being told not to run to far ahead.

It sounds very serious, but he's in good hands. Hope he makes a swift and full recovery.

He played before I started watching Notts, but I'm grateful for everything he did and for the support he gave the club during the fundraising efforts. I wish him all the best in his recovery. It sounds like a horrible thing to go through. I hope he’s able to walk again and get back to a more normal life.

It sounds like he got to the hospital just in time to avoid life-changing injuries. The article mentions he "required immediate surgery."

It’s good that everyone acted quickly. He’s only 54, and hopefully, he’ll be back on his feet before too long.

He was a musical genius with clever and fun lyrics. It’s very sad to hear of his passing at the age of 80. May he rest in peace.

I know of the Beach Boys and have listened to their music, but I'm not too familiar with the members. From reading the comments, it seems he was one of the main members and wrote many of the lyrics.

It's very sad to hear that he has passed away.

RIP to a true genius - the Beach Boys' cheesy name and public image didn't do justice to the depth of their music, and that was down to Brian Wilson. God Only Knows is one of the best songs ever made.

@McPie, he does seem to bring a lot of insight and his personal experience with burnley among the other clubs could really pay off. i also agree, that when people work from text books they are missing out on practical learning from individuals which might not help. dr rhodes approach sounds promising.

A very interesting & informative video. As I have said previously, I do hope that he can make a big difference by reducing the injuries that Notts have suffered just like last season.

Coaches will always be keen on getting their players on the training field, but overtraining can be a big risk too.

It's good to have a person onboard who has expertise & will have plenty of advice and guidance to give regarding managing players fitness..

The board are clearly working hard to modernise the club’s structure. Since the Reedtz brothers took over, Notts have come a long way. Making changes every few seasons in the right areas can really make a difference. Someone experienced with injuries, like Dr Rhodes, should have a good impact. We had quite a few injuries last season, which we’ll hopefully avoid going forward. What matters is making sure players return stronger and more prepared.

Thanks @Piethagoram sadly we won’t be going ashore any time soon. We went on an excursion yesterday and as she was getting off the coach Mrs. T fell awkwardly and twisted her ankle, it is very swollen and she can’t put any weight on it, the crew were very good and we managed to get her back onboard, they given us a wheel chair to use on the ship but we aren’t allowed to take it ashore, so we are ship bound for a while until it gets easier to walk. Hopefully it’s not broke but we’ll keep an eye on it.

I dislocated my ankle play fighting with Jake during my holiday on the beach, and from previous times with my knee. I know the sand is an unkind place to hurt yourself.

I hope P is feeling much better now @Fan of Big Tone and her injury hasn't put too much of a dampener on things. She is managing to keep smiling even if she is in pain.

The success of George Abbott last season has taught me to be more patient with these kind of signings and we’re definitely building a reputation as a club to send promising youngsters to develop. Fingers crossed for him, oh and he doesn’t take up one of the over 21 slots either

This is the sort of signing I hoped we’d make, young, talented, and with something to prove. Iorpenda looks like he’s got the attributes to thrive in League Two: strong, quick, and willing to put himself about. That box-to-box style fits well with how we’re trying to play, especially if he’s got the engine to get up and down the pitch. The bonus is that he’s come through two decent academies, and clearly has a solid football education. I think if we manage him well and give him regular game time, he could develop into a really important player for us. If he can chip in with a few goals as well, even better!

I'm pleased with his arrival and hope he is ready to compete for his place in the team. As the season unfolds at Notts, I hope he enjoys his time here. He could become part of a select group of talented players who have been given more opportunities, like Ryan Yates and Jack Grealish.

He has a good head on his shoulders, and when he moves to a higher-level team, he should make sure it’s one that will actually play him and help him develop. Millwall gave up too soon on Macaulay Langstaff. We didn’t need them to prove it by putting him on the transfer list before this season started. Jake Tabor won’t want to end up in that situation, even though Macca is on decent wages.

The EFL is a big step up, but some players just have a natural instinct for scoring goals.

Putting in the hard work and making life difficult for defenders can be enough to succeed. Maybe, in a few years, Jake Tabor will be playing at that level.

good luck to him, i hope he gets a move to the efl and does well.
