I didn't think I had seen a topic posted on this, but let me know if I just missed it. Did everyone see who won the £250k transfer fund as part of the Sky Bet comeptition? http://www.football-league.co.uk/news/article/2014/win-250000-thanks-to-the-sky-bet-transfer-fund-2145910.aspx It is non other than those lot across the river, 2 days after their transfer embargo kicked in Luckily for them they can use it on loan player wages so it isn't completely wasted. Might they get Falcao on loan for a week maybe? I'm not sure if they can use it to pay their tax bill?

Jesus Christ, yeah that's the one, you know born on Christmas day, put on this earth to save mankind... The person who's life we are to celebrate next week.... He has only gone and signed for Chelski, well according to 20% of the kids in this survey.... http://babb.telegraph.co.uk/2014/12/jesus-christ-plays-for-chelsea-according-to-one-in-five-children/ Now this is either the demographics of the area, and perhaps a little lack of knowledge regarding other religions, or THE PARENTS WANT SHOOTING!!!!! thoughts?

  4. An 80-acre site, highlighted in red, is to be transformed into a £100m-plus training facility which will include 16 training pitches and a 7,000-seater ground for youth and reserve team games, all just a stone's throw away from the Etihad Stadium. How many UK players will benefit? It looks good but a waste of land. Manchester City will also donate land in the corner of the site for a sixth form college to be built, and have donated £3 million for local leisure facilities, which is being earmarked for a swimming pool

A few shocks. Dover went to Cheltenham and won 1-0. Chester held Barnsley at Oakwell. Blyth beat Hartlepool away. Result of the round. Worchester drew 1-1 at Scunthorpe. I must say Worchester are very physical. They injured 2 Scunny players and should have been down to 10 men. They have no ground so the replay will be at Kidderminster. Scunny should wear 2 pairs of shin pads in the replay!

Is anyone watching this tonight on BBC2? Mrs. H. is out on the razzle with her mates, so I've got the house to myself, I'm treating myself to a curry and I've got a couple of bottles of real ale my son brought be back from the Lake District, Coniston Brewery - Bluebird bitter and Old Man Ale (very appropriate, thanks son). Actually he tells me that the Old Man refers to the Old Man of Coniston which is mountain, hmmm, I'll believe him I suppose. Anyway that's me sorted tonight, anyone else watching it? What do you think the score will be, I reckon Hartlepool will win comfortably, maybe 3-0 or more.

All could go wrong for our nighbours, they have been given an embargo along with Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers. These are no real surprise, I think we knew for sure that two of these teams would be included. The problem is how complexed the embargo is and how teams can still get around it. It also could spell an end to us obtaining the two players sent out on loan by them, they may now be forced to keep Louis Laing and Stephen McLaughlin. Now one of them would be a bigger lose but both are useful in my opinion. On Saturday, I heard comments about if this happened Shaun would have to rely on other clubs. Why don't we try to build a relationship with Leicester City?…

Wigan players are helping out their supporters with some Christmas Cheer, as they are going to pay half of the match ticket for the first 500 fans to buy them. The away game at Leeds is likely to cost £36.00 each and coming on Boxing day is considered to be a bit too steep... see article : http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/11/wigan-players-halves-away-tickets-leeds A big well done to them

A letter in this month's WSC got me thinking. Last month Football League Division One for 1982-83 was featured in the magazine. It was particularly noticeable that every single team but one won more games at home than they lost, including all three relegated clubs (Luton won 7 and lost 7). In last season's Premier League, on the other hand, 11 of the 20 teams failed to do this. Likewise away, in 82-83, only one team (Liverpool, the champions) won more away than they lost. Every single other team lost 9 or more of their 21 away games. Last season, 7 Premier League teams won away from home more often than they lost, with another one (Southampton) winning and losing …

  13. I know this is a Notts County message board but we love it when our neighbours are struggling don't we? With the current run of form that them across the river are in how long do you think Stuart Pearce will last as manager? Do you think he will pull them round and start winning again or do you think their current run will continue? If so how long will he last in the job, the chairman over there isn't noted for his patience after all.

I see that our "friends" across the river were a bit peeved when the fourth official gave a hand ball against one of their players which resulted in a penalty and the player being sent off. This is very interesting because I didn't know that a fourth official could do that, how can he see a penalty standing on the half way line when the ref and his assistant who were much nearer missed it? As it happens video analysis proves the decision to be the correct one. What do you think, should fourth officials become more involved? They get enough harassment from the managers as it is, I can forsee more if this becomes the norm.

I just heard this on the radio and I cringed, "Jose Mourinho and Brian Clough are cut from the same cloth". Now I spent many years disliking Brian Clough in my younger years, I hated his arrogance. Though I suppose this was based on by the fact the only person in my family who thought anything of him was @super_ram. My grandfather appreciated what he did but he didn't like him because of his smugness and attitude. I dislike Jose Mourinho for pretty the same reason, yet I have grown to appreciate and like Brian Clough (I've matured I suppose). I do not think that these two people are cut from the same cloth, Neil can be an idiot sometimes when he speaks. You just can't …

Well, having fluffed the first of my prediction league selections, I thought I would share this, hoping for a much better outcome. Last season the bet from a few of the natives up here, was that they would do us and finish higher in league. What a happy day I had this May collecting all of those pints. It did however somehow mess with my already cotton wool brain, by enticing me to make another... This season then, the bet is that Notts will finish higher in our league, than the cumbrians will finish in league 2. First thing the next morning I was regretting this thinking, crikey its a no brainer, of course I am going to lose... The table looked go…

For those who remember John Chiedozie will have noted that a J. Chiedozie got on the score sheet for a non league side (can't remember who) against Mansfailed with an absolute screamer. It was in fact John's son Jordan nice to see that name in football again.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov 'like a little kid' again Former Aston Villa and Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov says he feels "like a little kid" now that he is playing football again following his battle with cancer. The 35-year-old Bulgarian was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2012 and retired in May 2013 , but is now playing Sunday League football for Midlands side Wychall Wanderers. Petrov's treatment is due to end shortly and he says it is "incredible being able to smile again". Brilliant story, so sad to this happen to someone who was doing fantastically well in his career. However, as always it's good to see him turning it in to a …

first round proper is drawn live on BBC 2 at 7pm tonight. Notts are ball number 29. What does everyone want? Obviously most people will want a home tie. Apologies to the rest of you, but from a purely selfish point of view I'd love a southern away tie against someone like Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol Rovers, or Eastleigh. One of the london clubs would be good for me too. I just can't be bothered to wait until January to see us Saying nothing for Weymouth for fear of jinxing tomorrow night's replay...
